not defending where he was picked but the same thing was said about Collins. it just takes one other team to reach and he's gone

IDK about that. IIRC Collins was the 2nd best LB on the board at that point by most people's measure. He might have been a minor reach but I think most people agreed he was a 2nd round prospect.

Think about it for a second: imagine if Garoppolo has to play and does well.

Either the Pats stick with Brady and trade Garoppolo, or they're set at QB for the next decade. :)

I don't know man. Tom Brady is the GOAT. Drew Bledsoe was just a quarterback. Big difference! I don't think they let Brady go.

There is no way Kraft will survive the bad PR from a Brady trade. I believe Brady will retire rather than play for another team. He has always put team first. For Kraft to trade him would be suicide.

Not to my recollection. That pick got plenty of WTF reactions on fan sites and in national media. Maybe it wasn't as bad as Tavon Wilson, but the consensus opinion was more than a "minor" reach.

IMO Jimmy G will provide great QB depth for this year, maybe next, and will be traded for at least 1 first-rounder. Brady ain't slowing down anytime soon.

Favre led the Vikings to the NFCCG and he was older than Brady, took more hits, and not as good as Brady. Brady takes care of himself, doesn't take hits when he doesn't have to, and relies on his brain honestly Tom played as well as when he won the 2010 MVP Brady still has a lot left in the tank I would even say his 50% is better than half the QBS in the league at their 100%

I honest-to-god saw a comment on a PFT article recently where someone said Brady will definitely retire after this year, "he's no Brett Favre." Uhh, what?

Jordan Richards blanketed Gronk on an INC in the end zone. Second time in two days the rookie has stuck out.

I'm not defending the pick in ANY way but it would be funny if he ended up being a good player.

Said it right after the draft, will say it again: James Sanders 2.0 (or better, I hope, though if he's merely equal to the original I'd be OK with thst).

fair enough, but most believed we could have snagged him with the latter 2nd round pick , or even trading into an early 3rd. regardless, most had an initial meltdown regarding the pick here:

start here:
http://www.patsfans.com/new-england...nds-2-3-2013-nfl-draft-thread.1023448/page-14

my point is if some other team wanted him in the 3rd, BB just pre-empted so he doesnt lose him

Jake Bequette - The best player to never play a meaningful snap in patriots history.

Pretty sure he's played in the regular season. don't know how meaningful it was.

With my memory that could have been preseason, so correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't like the talk of trading either Brady or Garoppolo. Why not keep both until you have to unless Brady falls off hard in the next few years.

Well let me look up some sites.

full disclosure. A found a few where he was ranked lower too but they were much more combersome and these were really easy to read.

I am not saying he might not have been a reach but it was different than a lot of 2nd round reaches we have made in the past as was not nearly the complete blindside other picks were.

My point is a 2 way player mainly defensive back but able to fill in as a fourth safety.
It doesn't hurt to learn both positions this way he knows where his help is and understand the defense more as a whole.
Just a way to get a high upside player on the roster as opposed to keep a player whos already reached the top of his ability and is nothing more than a fringe player.
I don't understand how my thought is assnine in any stretch.
However he is being roasted today but that's technique we will see if he develops further.

You don't need to explain your opinion because it is your opinion. Consider the source of the comment and disregard.

Clearly you were right. I must admit that my recollection was swayed by the furor on this site.

Talked to a person close to the #Patriots tonight trying to gather some info. Here's 2-3 nuggets that interested me...

Rookie Safety Jordan Richards has impressed from the minute he got there. Everyone knew he was smart, but they've been more impressed by

his instincts and field vision early on. Compared to other rookies that have historically come in late due to graduation.. he was way ahead

2. I don't get the sense that Ryan Wendell is locked into one of the Guard spots. They won't shy away from starting both rookies if nec.

I also got the sense that they're not nearly as concerned about the secondary as Patriots fans are.

All of the above good to hear! Hopefully Richards can live up to his draft position, wouldn't that be awesome? Paired with McCourty, maybe they could be special if so. Also really excited about the guards, if they both beat our Wendell that'd be a great sign I think.

I am waiting to really look into it until the pads come on!
