Breaking: Mort Backs Out; Dennis Claims Kensil As the Source ofthe Bad Numbers

Wow, those emails! I am certainly glad to see the Patriots were boiling mad internally.

Likely what I would have done in the face of such blatant continued deflection and non-responses would be to release the proper information, leak it or whatever. Then leak the emails. That would force a league response. For whatever reason the Patriots listened to the league and did not release the proper PSI numbers. I am sure they regret that now.

Glad to see Patriots not ending the rhetoric. This recently released correspondence is mind boggling.

Wow, the fix was so clearly in.

IIRC when these were sent the Pats didn't have the true data. When the NFL finally deigned to share, the Pats had to sign an NDA (!) that made them wait for the Wells report to come out.

The David Gardi email needs to be refocused again right now when lot of national people are paying attention.
In the end dont know how it helps the court case.

Wow, I wonder if there is more information to come?
The Patriots are not playing nice anymore.

Just thinking (wistfully) out loud here but if the Pats had leaked the proper PSI numbers they could have responded to the LEague's angry email demanding who leaked the info with "We will continue to do everything in our power to investigate the cause of the leaks, but we are sure it didn't come from our offices."

Just shove their own stupid words right back at them.

Like I said, I am sure they regret not doing so now.

Wow!! I mean we already knew they were hosing us.. But that makes it pretty clear. Pash is douche

We should all start using the #whereismort hashtag. Also, I'd love it if Patriots personnel would answer Deflategate with "Where's Mort?" and leave it at that

Don't mess with Robyn Glaser. Yikes.

Patriots tired of playing games. They were good soldier - trying to get League to stop leaks - got screwed.

They should have known to be weary of BS League office.
Only makes one wonder how Kraft could have kissed up to Goodell knowing this was going on in the background. #whereismort

He told the NFLPA to tone down the rhetoric. That doesn't apply to the Patriots.
Actually, in one of the crazy ironies of this whole debacle, he told both parties to tone down the rhetoric and the Patriots are a part of the NFL so the Patriots are a part of that order...

But (and here comes the ironic part) the Patriots are in the position where they hope the team they are on loses in court.

Now excuse me while I try desperately to stop my head from spinning.

Mort probably DID have a second source, who confirmed the lie.

That is why his article said "league sources involved and familiar with the investigation"

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/1...-had-inflated-footballs-afc-championship-game

involved with = Kensil
familiar with = ?? (Irsay?)

My guess is Joe Gardi (I think his first name is Joe). He was one of the "suits" at the game, so he knew the accurate info, and still later he sent an email to the Pats with (different) incorrect numbers. I have no idea what his motives could have been, or if he has ties to or a work history with the Jets, like Ken.sil.

What bothers me, is not that the NFL didn't correct the information, but they didn't even say something to the effect of "The league has not provided any data regarding football pressures, or any other information related to the investigation to any 3rd parties including ESPN. All relevant information, including football pressure, will be provided when the investigation has concluded."

It makes me think the NFL was completely unwilling to step on ESPN's toes, even knowing full well they published false information. The NFL's relationship with ESPN is more important than 1 of the 32.

Patriots to NFL "ESPN story is false and damaging our brand, please cease and desist."
NFL to ESPN "We need to correct your story"
ESPN to NFL "That will make us look bad, please don't"
NFL to ESPN "Okay fine."
NFL to Patriots "We're looking into it, bai"

Patriots say released emails are only "to illustrate." I think Patriots are warning NFL there are many more emails.

@McCannSportsLaw is releasing the emails an attempt to force the NFL to drop the punishment? Or more scorched earth this means war attack?

Long Islander who went to Hofstra and used to work for the Jets.

Basically they want expedite the motion practice (motions that discuss the legal merits of each side) instead of an injunction. Therefore the judge would potentially reach a decision prior to the start of the season and an injunction wouldn't be necessary.

I wonder if that's a bit of reverse psychology. I was listening to WEEI a little while ago and a lawyer called into one of the shows. They were talking about this and the lawyer recounted a conversation he had with a judge once. He said this time of year a lot of clerks, etc. are on vacation. Anyways, he said he once asked a judge to move around his calendar to hear his case ASAP (similar to what's happening here), and the judge basically relied "In the history of the world, there hasn't ever been a crime committed, that would cause me to do that" (basically "not a f***kin chance!")

So what I'm thinking is, instead of Kessler filing for a temporary restraining order (or injunction or whatever) to let Brady play till this is settled (possibly prompting some rolling eyes and biased leaks). Kessler does this, and the judge says "Nope, can't do it. But I'll give you half a loaf. Here's a TRO." And then the judge takes his own sweet time.

Kraft is gaining back brownie points quick.
