Peter King: Russell Wilson and the Seahawks have agreed to a 4-year, $87.6-million extension

Ran some quick numbers (yeah they could be wrong)
in games where the team game up more than 24 points ..including playoffs
Brady 30-29
Manning P 30-55
Rodgers 13-23
Brees 21-61
Roethlisberger 8-32
Flacco 10-19
Wilson 0-7

What else could they do? Wilson's certainly a top 10 quarterback, even if he's not going to take a team to a Super Bowl on his arm alone.

Good, not great, player with whom you can win. Deal hurts Seattle if they need to lose key players.

Quarterback driven league and the Seahawks have one that can win for them. That said, the key player that could be on his way out the door is Kam Chancellor. If the Seahawks decide to cut ties with him, he'd look phenomenal with a Flying Elvis.

Beginning of the end for Seattle. Defense will eventually begin to suffer and Wilson cant put it on his back and win high scoring games. Good for him though.

Last season Chung was used as that box safety that mainy gave run support, and he was pretty good at it. Kind of how Chancellor is often used. If Chancellor was on this defense he could do everything Chung did, and do it better, and he could be asked to do even more things. Chancellor would look pretty damn great in that role here. But probably too expensive with the other guys we have to re-sign.

Wilson deal wasn't about Seahawks overpaying -- it was about Wilson deciding to take a lot less now that he could have gotten in 2016.

********...they should have called Wilson on his bluff and just walk out....because he likely would have returned. If he truly meant to leave, I really don't see how he'd be able to prosper w/o a defense-oriented system. He doesn't know how to rack up points, at least not this early in his career. Of course, that could change over time. Just look at Tom Brady pre-Randy Moss and compare it to Tom Brady post-2007

60 Million guaranteed, 21.9 million average. There goes space to pay other players! Can I hear an "aww yeah!"? :D

"Stone Cold" Tom Brady: If you like that the Seahawks can't pay for other players, give me a "Hell Yeah"

I'll just wait and see what he does before labeling it a bad deal. It's not like he has had any significant receiving options and now he has Graham.

If they didn't pay him somebody else would have. The Pats have had a franchise Qb for 15 years and you might also say longer than that with Bledsoe. They don't grow on trees and I'm sure there would of been at least 15 teams lining up next year if the extension wasn't done.

You can argue the fact if you think Wilson is a franchise Qb but you can't argue Seattle paying him if they thought he was.

I'm not sure if whether this makes Russell Wilson look bad, or whether this makes Tom Brady look very good, but Tom Brady makes $12.9M less per season than Wilson.

That is incredible

Based on current market this would seem low in years and/or $.

A little low in AAV, but Wilson was holding fast for more guaranteed, which he got. Sounds like he was willing to sacrifice getting absolute top dollar in order to get a lot guaranteed. I think it was a good move for the Seahawks to lock him up, because within a year or two this contract won't look bad at all. It means they'll lose depth, but that was always going to happen anyway.

The bigger news, IMO, is that Chancellor is holding out and Thomas might not be ready for the start of the season. Take the two safeties out of their defense, and suddenly it's not at all intimidating.

Forget the money Tom is being paid this year. Brady has been well paid relative to the league every since he signed his first big contract. Please don't forget that Tom got a HUGE up front check in his last contract, so his yearly checks now seem relatively small. This was by design.

Make no mistake. Tom may not have asked for the highest money over the years, but he's always been in the top 5 for almost all of his career. The Pats are just now getting the benefits of a contract designed NOT to be a killer at the back end

As for Wilson's deal, I think it sounds about right. He lead them to 2 superbowls in 3 years, and is just now entering his prime. He has proven durable, reliable and for the most part clutch. Much like Brady early in his career, he's getting derided as being a "game manager" for a team with a good defense. Until proven different, Wilson is a top 5 QB and needed to be paid like one.

As for Wilson, almost half the contract is guaranteed, and its short enough that he will get another crack at FA while he's STILL in his prime

Something must be wrong with these statistics....I find this one very hard to believe

Russell Wilson has the most wins by any QB in NFL history in a player's first 3 seasons.

Well, Brady had 34 so it makes sense he's not on there. They had that somewhat down 9-7 2d season.

Brady won 40 games in his first 3 years starting but he didn't play his rookie year so he isn't on that list.

Are they counting playoff games?
