Unbelievable: Mort Blames KRAFT

“You guys made a mistake by drumming up business for the show and how I would address my reporting for the first time,” Mortensen informed WEEI. “I will not allow WEEI, [Patriots owner Robert] Kraft or anybody to make me the centerpiece of a story that has been misreported far beyond anything I did in the first 48 hours. Maybe when the lawsuit is settled, in Brady’s favor, I hope, we can revisit. Don’t call.”

Mort is just a coward. D and C are using Alinsky tactics to pressure him- I say go for it. The media should have been doing this for the last two months. Every time we see his face their should be a big fat elephant in the room. A four hour extravaganza that basically hammers home that he's a POS is exactly what he deserves.

He made this mess, he ruined people for no reason, and he is responsible- not Kraft or anyone else.

This email was read on EEI this am. No one working for media outlets that broadcast NFL games will ever tell the truth, follow the money.

Sure, Mort, it's all Kraft's fault.......

If I'm Bob Kraft I publicly ask Chris Mortensen one question - why did they pick YOU to spread their lies??

Hmmm................

He ran with his fake info, like a common gossip, to be the center of attention but now he doesn't want to be the centerpiece of the story.

Florio isn't letting him get away with that crap:

".....I like and respect Mort. As Adam Schefter of ESPN said on WEEI on Thursday, Mortensen is a pioneer in this business. But his false report should be the centerpiece of the story. Because without that false report there is no story. More specifically, without that false report, there is no finding of cheating.

The false report instantly changed the narrative from “the NFL checked the Patriots footballs at halftime” to “someone deflated 11 of the 12 the Patriots footballs by two pounds each; what did Brady and Belichick know?” It made another Ted Wells investigation logical, it put the Patriots on the defensive, and it kept the Patriots from responding to the accurate PSI readings by pointing out that, on one of the two air-pressure gauges used, they fall squarely within the range expected by the Ideal Gas Law....."

Misreported in the first 48 hours?
Address it after Brady is done in court? Coward for life.

Better not turn off that filter on your Twitter Mort.

Mort-

I take back what I said last night. F off.

The only misreporting done here was by you, jacka$$.

All he did was lie to ruin a mans reputation for the chance to prop up his own reputation. What's so bad about that?

/sarc

Never did like the guy. Besides, I believe he hates the PATs.

Mort playing the victim is pathetic.

No WEEI, the Patriots, or Bob Kraft will not make him the centerpiece of the story. That time has long past. He is already the centerpiece of the story.

You know who made him the centerpiece of the story? Chris Mortensen and his sources. His sources did by using him to feed false information to smear the Pats. Mort did by never correcting his story and admitting he is wrong and how he was duped.

Mort has only himself to blame. He looks worse now by looking like a coward than just coming on the show admit he got it wrong and gave no additional information.

You can also blame his editors and ESPN and NFL executives for not allowing the truth to be told to the public.

Biggest scoop of his miserable career is a lie........ Worse he choose to not correct a lie.
Sic transit gloria

Ass.

If he'd spun it as "Oops, I just realized what you want from me, and I can't give it to you without betraying a source," at least he would have been nodding to the norms of decent behavior. But noooooo -- he couldn't even be bothered to do that much.

By way of contrast, ESPN blogger Mike Reiss constantly puts up "accountability" posts in which he assesses how right or wrong his PREDICTIONS had been, let alone his claims of fact.
