He's been very strong on deflategate. What the did was change how they handled the footballs blogs for all the teams so they could push OTHER crap on to us.Reiss' material is filtered through the politburo in Bristol. Still good, but a different voice since he sold his soul.
Just accuse Mort of cheating. He repeated a lie without fact checking it. It was journalistic malpractice and he needs to be held accountable.
Holy crap. Please please please let this come out.
If Mort actually outs his source, and it's someone from the NFL front offices, Jerry Jones, Mr. Mara, Mr. Ross and company are going to look incredibly stupid.
He'll never name names. And it's true that I don't really blame him if he got burned by previously reliable sources. I do blame him for going silent rather than vocally acknowledging that he got the story wrong. If he had been even a little proactive about that I would have no problem with him, even knowing that naming names just isn't on the table.
Anonymous sources are all these guys have. Schefter is the best because he has the most sources telling him the most stuff. If Mort outed his sources, he would basically be guaranteeing that he never got a scoop again.
If it were that easy, John Thomase and the Globe would've had to shell out millions in a slam dunk defamation suit. After all, people still bring up the idea of taping practices to this day. Unfortunately, the bar has been set rather low for journalism in regards to ethics and "fact checking."
This is true even more in the age of social media where stories are wrong every day and shared like it's no big deal.
Before this decision, there were nearly US $300 million in libel actions outstanding against news organizations from the Southern states, and it had caused many publications to exercise great caution when reporting on civil rights, for fear that they might be held accountable for libel.

No, actually, the issue is not that "the bar has been set rather low" for journalism per se. From Wikipedia, on the case (New York Times v. Sullivan) that established the actual malice standard:
Well ****. I would absolutely love to eat crow on everything I just posted. Still skeptical though.
They leave audio of the more important interviews on their on demand page.I had a crazy day today, and there's not a chance in hell that I'll catch D&C in the morning, so I hope someone here is very thorough and accurate in noting what is said.
If John Dennis is just teasing something he doesn't have (or doesn't share) then I will never listen to that station again.Holy crap. Please please please let this come out.
I'm impressed that Moretensen would purposely burn a source.
That would be quite impressive, and I would have a lot of respect for him in doing so.
Still doesn't quite explain the timeline in regards to dragging his heels, but maybe there was a reason?

John isn't a reporter anymore but a radio shock jock. No way he keeps this quiet for long. I hopeJohn being told doesn't mean John can share.
Let's just hope Mort is willing to strike a match and start a fire.
