Mortensen to address initial #DeflateGate report on WEEI

Wow, I'm actually shocked. It's been so long that I never thought he would.

But, I don't have my hopes very high. Chances are he will say some variation of "it's not my fault, that's what they told me, but I can't tell you who it was who told me, but don't shoot the messenger."

Well I don't know what people are expecting. As things have gone for us, he will say he was leaked the real numbers, miss wrote them a decimal place off, wrote the story. Now he resigns and the NFL had nothing to do with it.

This PFT story points a finger directly at the NFL. Accused them of lying. Deliberately feeding the media false information to create public perception of guilt. He almost sounds like us.

Wow, I'm surprised that he's addressing it at all. Seems like if he was going to he would have done it a while ago, maybe he's been surprised to find that it hasn't blown over yet?

Alternatively, he is getting old - he could reveal his source to help Brady and then immediately retire...

...Sorry, I just finished hanging out with Sheldon Richardson, I think I'm still buzzed.

JK I would never hang out with Sheldon Richardson.

ESPN and the NFL have had months to work on this. Somehow, I'm unabashedly skeptical it will work out the way we hope it would. I'd expect lies built upon lies with corroboration from whoever is identified as his source (if identified).

Mortensen said it was an NFL source who was actually involved in the investigation:

"The NFL has found that 11 of the New England Patriots' 12 game balls were inflated significantly below the NFL's requirements, league sources involved and familiar with the investigation of Sunday's AFC Championship Game told ESPN."

Y'know...

Maybe this was the condition Jeff Kessler had for giving Mortensen a few minutes today.

"Sure, I'll talk to you, Chris - but you go on Boston Radio and answer questions about that ******** 11 of 12 story."
