Patriots Camp Day One

Two hour drive.. would have to leave around 6AM. Worth it?
Yes, unless it ends up being a dreaded "shorts and shells" practice. That would be disappointing after a 2 hour drive. I really doubt that would happen this early in camp though.

Seriously. Look at the fat POS the Red Sox are paying $20m a year, guaranteed, to play third base. When Hockey players decline or just outright suck, the team can do nothing more than buy them out. Basketball is guaranteed no matter what. Only football players like Wes Welker can be dropped for nothing after sacrificing his mental and physical health and probably shortening his life.
Panda would do 1 50 yd run, collapse because of dehydration then sit on the can and surf Instagram for 36DDDs.

What a fatso.

Pretty creative of the Jets fan. I had never thought of the cheaters angle before. Glad to see he could save up enough money from his job as a garbage man to rent that plane for a fly by.
To be fair we would all have loved it if someone flew a banner over jets camp saying 'tamper much?'

It's OT, but you've gotta love Boston fans. The Red Sox front office goes out and loads up with lousy pitchers, a guy who can't play the field anymore, and a fat guy on year one of a large contract, and the team loses its starting catcher before the season even begins, and the fans blame the coach for a lousy season.

The pitching has just been so dreadful. Even with Ramirez and Sandoval, I think the team could've had an okay year if the pitching was just average, but it's been awful.

The team will probably scapegoat a good coach once again. What a joke of a team.

In a sport where the manager (which would be the head coach anywhere else) probably has the least impact of any of the four major sports, no less.

And here I was so excited to open a thread about actual football.. ;)

Scene-setter: #Patriots owner Robert Kraft arrives at practice and receives loud cheer. He waves in acknowledgement.

Kraft achieved what he wanted with his rhetoric yesterday. Fans have forgiven him after all his posturing in SF.
Kraft should be booed cause in a month we ll see picture with Kraft and Godell hugging and laughing together. Naive fans.

Had some beers with some college buddies (all UNH grads where we spent a good 45 minutes on how using the word "American" is not advised. ) and came up with the opinion that in our lifetimes might be the most revolting, disgusting, pathetic, lifeless, disinterested Red Sox team.

I truly hate this team.

It really is an awful team to watch. You don't feel any heart from them. Just contrast this team with the team that came back against the Yankees in 2004. It's a world of difference.

Even the Sox team that won the WS a couple of years ago was way more fun to watch. They clicked, they had chemistry, and it propelled them to an unlikely title. No chemistry to be found in 2015.

Deus, Tom_Montana12 here. Long-time lurker, big time fan.

Over the past couple of seasons of observing and studying you, I've noticed you have a rather interesting way of putting things. Your opinions intrigue me and you sometimes make me horny. Moving on...

I was wondering if you'd be willing to come to my lab for some tests? Strictly educational.

Write back promptly.

It certainly feels like they had the wrong priorities when negotiating this latest CBA (or any CBA for that matter). Instead of focusing on straight money share and number of padded practices, they should have focused on post-career benefits and the rights of their members when being accused of a crime/rule violation. But they went for the shiny-shiny, which is a percentage.

They're practicing with the Saints this year:

good news on the Saints practices, at least, Thanks.

only if they are wearing pads and hitting. One of the nice things about being retired is that I can wait until Monday.....And the bleachers will STILL be filled. ;)

Exactly. After 1990 they sucked for a few years until Kevin Kennedy became manager. Joe Kerrigan was a disaster as well. So was Valentine. The 2011/2012 Chicken and Beer team was brutal but this team and organization has no life. Just horrible.

Thank you both for your input -- when do padded practices begin? I can only go on a Sunday, unfortunately.

I would guess tomorrow, but the first Saturday is always full contact

Is that true about the American thing? I saw it but thought it was BS. Yet as a UNH grad it doesn't suprise me.

They are the most disinterested looking team I have ever seen. Bad coaching (massive mental errors) etc. It will get better, much better in 2 years but right now, not soo good.
