So Blount fails a conditioning test that I probably could have passed...?

i heard he failed his conditioning test, which was to run 20 50 yard sprints in under 8 seconds. I'm just not sure how an nfl rb doesn't pass that. He's so good at times but we need better motivation.

So many jokes to be made about his last name and potential offseason activities...

Blount has never been known for a speedster. In fact, he is a guy who picks up steam after hitting the line of scrimmage.

Doing 20 50 yard dashes is not as easy as it seems. An NFL RB should be able to pass the test, but I am not that concerned that Blount didn't. He is more of a wrecking ball than a speedster.

You: 5'5", 160 pounds
Blount: 6'0", 250 pounds

Chill out. He isnt the first guy to fail a conditioning test. Its the first day and he will get another crack at it and eventually pass. On a positive not, I suppose the new rbs could use the extra reps.

Coach Sandoval will get Blount finely tuned for the retake

Blount was on the non-football injury list before today ... so I'd wait for more info in this matter.

Blount - Branch and Hauptmann were on that list.

on the plus side, it looks like only 3 out of 90 players didn't pass this test. That's a good sign, right?

If they're starting the clock as soon as you complete the previous sprint, unless you're a professionally conditioned athlete you will struggle.

Yeah, wind sprints aren't easy, especially if there's no rest in between. Blount was also on the NFI list all summer so he may have been dealing with something that prevented him from reporting in top condition.

He also has an extra week to get into shape, anyways.

It's my understanding the the bigger NFL RB often struggle w/ the test.

I believe the conditioning test goes something like this:
20 sprints with thirty seconds rest after each sprint, with the exception being 1 minute after the 10th one. (Assuming to simulate halftime)

Linemen: 40 yards/under 6 seconds

LB, FB, QB, P, K, TE: 50 yards/under 7 seconds

DB, WR, RB: 60 yards/under 8 seconds

Thats it? 20 50 yard sprints in 8 seconds? When I played high school football. We had to do 100 yard sprints 18 times under 18 seconds for our conditioning test!

That's exactly what I would have said, except that I think there's a longer break between the two sets of 10, and I'm uncertain as to whether Brady might not be with the slowest group. :)
