As TommyD4207 pointed out in another thread, in the NFL filing they write "The Players Association regularly represents players in the Southern District of New York" There is not a single NFL player who works in the Southern District of New York. The Meadowlands is in Rutherford NJ and this is in the a different Federal Court District.

Looks like the NFLPA has filed in Minnesota already.
So I guess they can spend the first year or two on this arguing about venue:).

My take on the impatient judge is that he/she is an NFL fan, and just anxious to stick it to Goodell.

I'll be satisfied if they don't work for ESPN.

I was listening today to Sirius NFL radio they had a c ouple of lawyers on at different time that have handle cases for NFL players. One said Brady has no chance to win and the other said Brady will win. The one that said Brady would lose said that Brady did everything wrong, the presser, twitter, Facebook, laughing off this as no big deal, not keeping his mouth closed and going to the league to discuss very early on. He said Brady destroying the phone was the biggest mistake. He also said that Kraft can't help Brady and since he admitted they something wrong. He said he can't believe that Brady was getting his advise from a lawyer but suggested it was all Brady. The other lawyer said that the phone doesn't play into this. He said the league had no rules with procedures in place for PSI. He said players were never told about the penalty for not giving up their phone and they shouldn't give up their phone. He said that the NFL went to court in NY early to get a decision that they wouldn't hear the case so they could use that against Brady and pressure him. He said Brady will get permission to play and this case will take years to resolve because of the legal process.

IMO I am not sure what to believe but I think the second lawyer is correct. I do believe with the first lawyer that Brady did about everything he could do to screw himself.

Time will tell. I just want Brady to play 19 games during this coming season. I will worry about what happen after that, during the next season.

These bozos don't understand what they are talking about. They think this is a trial with discovery not a union labor issue. The odds favor Brady and I feel they greatly favor Brady. That being said anything can happen because a single judge can do what they want.

ive read so many different opinions on this topic.
most " lawyers " think it's unlikely that brady will be given the injunction.

Lawyers are like economists - hard to take seriously.

It's pretty simple, in my opinion. As soon as anybody brings up the phone as a major issue, I disregard everything else they say.

The first lawyer doesn't have Yee's take. whether or not you think it was stupid to get rid of the phone, the text messages match up with the text messages the League retrieved from McNally and Jastremski. There is no "18 minute gap" (for those of you who remember Watergate.) The league didn't want the phone, they wanted the information and they got it. In addition, the NFLPA's case is not about whether Brady did it, it's about the procedure. Completely different can of worms.

The whole "One lawyer says it will fail the other says it will win" thing is indicative of absolutely nothing other than how people running talk shows will almost always get people who are either on both sides of the debate or willing to pretend that they are to appear.

Their goal is to milk the story not reach any sort of consensus on the situation and the outcome.

Based on my facebook I'm pretty sure that a 'liberal' judge is one who will hide the fact that our President is an illegal immigrant who commanded a battalion of unionized gay ISIS freedom fighters who shot down the world trade center with ebola-infected Bruce Jenner bombs after finding the Trade Center plans in Hillary's email server.
You almost had me but for the fact that "gay" and "ISIS" are mutually exclusive.

Doesn't matter. That mensa member Munson at ESPN says Brady has zero chance in court. Just like you think the Cardinals hacking into the Astros computers is not a crime at all.

So Tom Brady should just give up. ESPN hacks.

Exactly. Munson? Please. That pretty much seals it. TB will win!! Munson is a clueless, biased Pats hater. This is gonna be a great season. Literally, "us against the world". And now that Kraft is back in the fight, we can maybe finally start filing a greivance every time a team so much as spits on the field.

I know what you were going for but you shouldn't have been going for it to begin with.

no, I really don't care that much just ironic in the context

For what it's worth, conservatives are generally pretty staunchly in support of upholding the provisions of any contract -- union or not. It's the progressives that want to throw out any contract in favor of their special interest constituencies -- often unions. See for example how preferred creditors got screwed in the GM bankruptcy proceedings.
We have to be careful or this will end up in a Political thread, but, while I don't disagree with your characterization of intellectually consistent conservatives in any way, it's really not accurate to suggest that GM was done in by liberals with special interest constituencies in mind. It was the investment bankers who let their friends on Wall Street off the hook who were the same ones who ****ed over GM and its creditors. I don't think that had anything to do with a "liberal" vs. "conservative" world view, but rather was just good, old fashioned corruption, where people in power spared those who were closer to them...that means you, Steven Rattner!

I know what you were going for but you shouldn't have been going for it to begin with.

Are you responding to my post by mistake? Because I'm not following what you're trying to say here. My post was a tongue-in-cheek response to Fnordcircle.
