Let's all forgive Bob Kraft

It has a cheating spouse vibe to it though. He turns his back on those he should standing up for, gets treated like **** by his new squeeze, and now wants back in with the old . It seems disingenuous to me. And remember, last time goodell pulled this **** Kraft became his biggest supporter.

Don't assume malice when stupidity is an adequate explanation. At least, not the first time.

He's not stupid. For all anyone knows it could all be scripted.

Hernandez lied to Kraft and they kissed, Goodell lied to Kraft and they hugged. Clearly Kraft is a sucker for a little affection.

I will forgive Kraft but I will not forget this and my opinion of him will forever be changed.

Kraft screwed up by not appealing because the league, of course, used it as part of their appeal decision to show guilt. If I get into a car accident and the cops cite me at the scene as being at fault and I pay the ticket that's the first thing listed if I get sued. If I fight it they can't imply that I've admitted guilt. Todays move is nice but the damage is done.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe Kraft forfeited the right to still take legal action against the NFL. Will he back up his talk with action? We shall see.

BS Not forgiven at all. Super convenient for him to say all this now that the other owners are appeased. He's talking out both sides of his mouth the exact darn same as he was before. Don't buy it. He'd do the same damn thing again in a heartbeat. Don't believe it? Remember he'd ALREADY DONE THIS BEFORE with cameragate.

It's a dog and pony show at best. At worst it's even more offensive than when he rolled over.

Kraft greatly misjudged Goodell when he thought his subservience would help Brady.
He also misjudged the hatred of the NYFL league office (see my sig).
He also misjudged the media when he thought that abject surrender would appease the mob.
He REALLY misjudged fan reaction to his caving.

Let's hope this statement is a sign his meds are good and his judgement improves.

Unleash the Jonathan!

What's Jonathan going to do?

I think people need to give Kraft credit for more than the apology, Brady and the NFLPA are suing the NFL, which includes Kraft, and Kraft supports Brady, that's a big deal.

Props Bob, most believed you would try to talk him out of it.

I mean, aside from the fact you're peddling revisionist history (the Red Army won the war, after all)

His post didn't address who won the war, that's not revisionism.

At the end of the day Kraft is just naive. He thought his actions would help resolve the situation but he forgot he was swimming with sharks and there is lots of chum in the water.

I forgive him. The response was sincere and he's done so much for the franchise that he deserves our forgiveness.

Bob can still sue the NFL. There is nothing stopping him.

That is true, but the court can reasonably say that they will not intervene in disputes when established grievance procedures exist and were not pursued. There was an appeals process for this decision to be reviewed internally by the NFL, however unfair it may be claimed to be, yet RK chose to bypass that option.

Is it too late to sue the league for the team penalties?

It takes a big man to assume he was wrong so publicly...or a pretty big man....

What, like "I love my country and I love the league!" ?

Seriously, do you have any quotes? Cause I can't find anything. He seems to have mostly put things in terms of himself and the Raiders, not talking directly about the league. We do this, we're that, etc.

This articles calls what Kraft did today pretty much unprecedented:

http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/172620/robert-kraft-ready-to-fight

Al Davis did most of his stuff behind the scenes (Like benching Marcus Allen because Allen pissed him off). He didn't say a lot in public.

Will work nicely as a historic footnote for everytime someone claims "but Kraft accepted penalties so there must have been some fire". But that's pretty much it. We are still a draft pick short thanks to him not fighting the entire thing.

Not buying it. Granted, it's nice to see him admit he made the wrong choice, and I do believe he sincerely feels bad for what happened to TB. But let's not pretend his original decision to side with the "32" was just out of some naive belief that the league would reward him by letting the dogs off of Brady. I'm sure that's how Kraft rationalized it, but don't forget: he likes being seen as the Great Compromiser; and I'm sure he was hopeful that earning points would be remembered for a Canton speech someday. That move earlier in the summer was much more about Kraft's ego and not wanting to be seen as a bad guy, than it was about- via some really, really contorted logic- helping Tom Brady. Don't forget that.

we still won 't be getting our picks back

Actions speak louder than words. I need to see some actions made by mr kraft before I can forgive what happened at the owners meetings.

What is preventing Kraft from changing his mind and taking the NFL to court to fight the team punishment? This "oops sorry I trusted the dog the repeatedly bit me" defense rings hollow absent further action. Kraft went from being a timid NFL owner loyalist to a duped groveler. Neither is a good for your reputation as an owner/franchise.
