Let's all forgive Bob Kraft

The question now is (best S ran Connory voive) "What are you willing to do about it?"

Which has to be coupled with " what can you do about it? " An appeal is out of the question but court Acton may not be, even if it fails. Other than that they need to get creative. Kraft is close with Moonves and that may be the first step in getting heard, although there is a significant chance he would place the partnership with the NFL first. Whatever it takes fight back as hard as they can.

Is this in anyway good for the league? I don't see it, can someone with a cynical mind construct something up?

It's hard to hate someone for being stupid.

I've gone from hate to profound disappointment and zero respect.

Kraft greatly misjudged Goodell when he thought his subservience would help Brady.
He also misjudged the hatred of the NYFL league office (see my sig).
He also misjudged the media when he thought that abject surrender would appease the mob.
He REALLY misjudged fan reaction to his caving.

Let's hope this statement is a sign his meds are good and his judgement improves.

Unleash the Jonathan!

Kraft needs to get Goody and gang green out of office.

Churchill and Truman negotiated with Stalin, in good faith (LMAO), and Eastern Europe lived under oppression for the next half century. Despite Stalin's notorious history of death and imprisonment in the goulags for tens of millions, despite Stalin's pacts with the Hiltler in the late 30's that opened the door for the Nazi invasion of Poland, the US and UK afforded standing to Stalin at Potsdam......and half a continent learned first hand the consequences of short sighted negotiations with a desperate leader. Sound familiar?
Kraft was hoodwinked, he was naive, he was inept....and he discarded the#1 rule in negotiations: never relinquish leverage. Once Bob deferred to a desperate commissioner, all he had left was "words"......and that's what we saw today..........useless words.
For those so wanting a feel good moment of forgiveness.....have at it. Forgiving incompetence is not one of my strengths.

How could he put his faith in the league after spygate? Not only that he doubled down on his stupidity and became goodells biggest supporter. Him capitulating in May was not to meant to help Brady, that's pure BS, he basically said as much.

BTW, Bedard is not doubting Kraft. He is merely pissed that Kraft didn't go after Goodell personally. Everyone here saw the first tweet and assumed he was dumping on Kraft as untruthful in general, but read on :

I can't take Kraft seriously on this until HE starts telling the truth on this. He's taking the weak, easy way out.

@GregABedard What do you believe is "the truth"? Honest question.

That Goodell is out of his depth as commissioner and needed to go a long time ago. https://twitter.com/dfresh429/status/626405692774162432…

Bedard is dead to me (and it is before today). No listening threads from me this season. I might do a Dale and Holley listening thread instead on days he is on.

I mean, aside from the fact you're peddling revisionist history (the Red Army won the war, after all), maybe comparing Roger Goodell to Joseph Stalin is a tad histrionic. I don't like the guy, but come on man.

I wish he would have added a statement that

“Roger Goodell is not welcome in our stadium for the opening game, or for any other NFL game at Gillette Stadium. He obviously has the right to attend should he wish to do so, but we do not welcome the presence of ANY NFL personnel who have contributed to this miscarriage of justice, including Mr. Goodell.”

Kraft screwed up by not appealing because the league, of course, used it as part of their appeal decision to show guilt. If I get into a car accident and the cops cite me at the scene as being at fault and I pay the ticket that's the first thing listed if I get sued. If I fight it they can't imply that I've admitted guilt. Todays move is nice but the damage is done.

It certainly wasn't a half assed apology. It is probably the harshest statement about the League by an owner in league history. That is significant. Is it enough to amend his huge miscalculation in trusting Goodell and backing down? Not really, but it is a huge step in the right direction.

Ever hear of Al Davis?

I don't forgive him. too little to late for me. if he said he decided to take the league to court then that's a different story. I'm interested in actions not words. I think people who are so quick to let Krafty off the hook are very naive. just like kraft was to trust goodell.

Going off my own crappy short-term memory here, but he essentially said he acted in good faith and tried to work things out with Goodell without the lawyers around. He said he chose not to fight because he thought it would help Brady get exonerated. He said he now realizes that was a big mistake and he was wrong to trust those in the league office.

As I've stated before here, I don't care how many billions Kraft is worth, his opinion isn't worth $.02 to me now. Anything he says has probably been scripted by Goodell and the other owners (his stated team) in order to keep the headlines and cash coming.

And don't forget, the NFL is still being run by clowns who are mostly all former Jets and would prefer our children to think that Mike Vick and Ray Lewis are upstanding citizens and that Tom Brady has character issues.

All just because he said that he hates the Jets. Who doesn't?
