Brady's legal team rope-a-dopes NFL into big mistake

As per breer the whole court case will be about the authority and process of the ruling. Not what the nfl did and didnt find and about the football psis themselves. ITs going to be more about precedent and if commish had any authority to aribitrate or vincent had any authority to hand the punishment.

Interesting point. We all know Goodell must of had 20+ lawyers crafting that final appeal judgment. So every sentence was well thought out including all probable ramifications. So basically use it to win the PR battle, rattle sabres, control the narrative, exhibit power, BUT... do nothing to seriously alter the landscape of the upcoming legal battle. Hmmm... Except the have-someone-sneak-off-to-NY-to-throw-your-case-on-a-favorable-court-docket-while-everyone-is-assembled-to-hear-you-read-a-major-press-release part of course. ;)

I don't think this is the reason the phone was destroyed. But what possible use was there for Brady's team to tell RG it was destroyed (if they actually even DID) ? Weird choice.

What's worse, if the NFL is reporting accurately, is the juxtaposition between claiming he destroyed all his phones and not destroying his previous one.

I have to believe that "destroying his phone" was a calculated move done so with the input of his legal team.. cannot envision one scenario where one morning he woke up and decided to just destroy it as a random act and then just said he did it..

The destruction of the cellphone has to be part of a larger strategy...

Have contended from the onset if you have Jeremski and McNally's phone who received the texts regarding this incident, why do you need Brady's???... "prurient interest", fodder for "TMZ" or the belief that the NFL has ultimate power of its players..

There is no integrity in the NFL, as even yesterday as this story was developing Steven Smith was leaking information on this situation... Kravitz, Mort and now Steven A. Smith all tools of the NFL media machine.

Game. Set. Match. Discipline has moved heavily away from supposed rule violations and now is almost solely centered on a cell phone that Brady was under no obligation to give. Further, Brady offered new information of his own free will to Goodell but this was ignored. As is being said, while it does ding Brady somewhat in public opinion, his chances of getting his case heard skyrocket as well as his chances of winning, considering he is now essentially being suspended for not doing something that is wholly outside of the CBA... Definition of an unfair labor practice

IMO, Brady doesn't worry to much about what the public thinks of him. I bet his goal is to play 16 games plus the playoffs and destroy everything in his path.;) The rest will take care of itself.

Has anyone from Brady's side said that the phone is destroyed? Or are we (and the media) relying entirely on the NFL's statement?

I think it's as simple as this, Brady considers the phone and all of the personal information on it his and irrelevant to whatever the NFL was manufacturing and decided b they weren't getting it, period. Don't like it, too F.cling bad. The NFL may be driving the media bus but the law is a very diffirent story.

There is no chance of the phone ever being required for evidence unless there is a suit files by Brady against Roger for slander, etc... This is a 100% unfair labor practices issue now and Brady is entitled to all his union bargained rights. NFL walked right into this legal trap.
This is the only theory I have read or heard anywhere that would explain why Brady or his legal team would disclose to the league that the phone had been wiped out. It just doesn't make sense otherwise.

He said the phone broke. It's entirely possible that Brady's phone being broke became Brady "destroyed" his phone to the NFL.

This feels like the movie Last Knights starring Clive Owen and Morgan freeman.

So now Brady has said his phone simply broke, the NFL wording in the statement saying it was destroyed adds more strength to a defamation suit, right?

I think Brady's legal team realizes that the NFL's strategy is to focus more on the PR battle rather than the outcome in the courts. The league offices figure they'll take the tiny hit when the ruling is overturned, but Brady doesn't have enough to likely win a defamation suit.

Given how effective the league has already been at tarnishing Brady's image with the brainwashed masses, Brady's legal team has likely decided to focus on winning the legal battle, and use the aggressiveness of the NFL's PR campaign against them. It seems like every decision they make goads the NFL to dig a deeper hole. They can't match the NFL's brute force in the media, but they can try redirecting that brute force and use their own momentum against them.

In other words, the NFL assumed that Brady didn't have enough ammo for a successful defamation suit when they devised their legal strategy. Brady's legal team agreed, but figured that by then end of the labor suit, the NFL will have provided enough ammo to make a strong case. If successful, this will be glorious.
