I worked for VZW between 2003-2008 in retail stores and in B2B sales. My wife worked there until 2011 and I still have many friends who work there and at other carriers.

I can say unequivocally that just about everyone does a factor reset on their old phone when they purchase a new one.

In general the word "destroyed" is being misused here. Tom Brady reset his phone, to wipe his content off of it.

On a side note - I am sort of glad Goodell upheld the suspension, if he did something else it would have opened up the possibility that he will not be exposed for the worthless, lying, manipulative, piece of **** that he is. Goodell embodies everything that is wrong with this corporate America.

INTENTIONALLY misused by the NFL to make it looking like a criminal act of desperation.

Thanks for the info, I hope Brady comes out and clarifies this.

Would Goodell really use the term destroyed if all Tom did was reset?..The average person is dumb, but no way anyone would buy that.

As a VZW employee the celebrities I've ran into are very hesitant to give their phone in any sense.
I wouldn't doubt for one moment he destroyed it but that is common practice amongst the elite, wealthy, famous, cautious.

Goodell could be using "destroyed" referring to data only, knowing it would come across in the public eye as physically destroying the phone.

Do you think when Yee told goodell he used the word "destroyed"?

Please provide evidence that Brady simply reset his phone. I hope that's what he did but are you just guessing?

Please provide evidence other than the misinformation spreading nfl that Brady literally destroyed his phone

It may indeed be a way for RG to get off track and distract the public. But it is an effective method. Once again, the NFL finds a way to get people to bash Brady.

The effort they are putting into discrediting Brady is quite remarkable. 5M$, 100 days, long appeal wait, filing the second they release today's ruling...

There is no evidence shown either way.....just a statement from thw NFL* That he reset the phone is just a guess. I'm not sticking up for the NFL you know

It clear that Goodell purposely tried put Brady in the worst light. It could be that Brady just had the phone wiped clear and the SIM card destroyed (when I upgraded my phone last year, I wiped my phone clean and Apple told me to discard the SIM card). The SIM card doesn't store any information like texts or phone records. It is a read and not write component.

Until I hear the Brady side and not Goodell's spin on the Brady side, I am not passing judgement. It could be really bad or it could be far more innocent that is spun to look bad.

Its clear goodell used the word destroy to guide public opinion. Brady could simply have said "i traded that phone in and no longer have it"

But the word destroyed puts images that brady took a hammer to the phone because he was hiding texts to the deflator!!

Wouldnt the nfl HAVE whatever texts Brady would have sent to dorito dink and the deflator?

I appreciate your optimism in humanity. It may not be deserved :p.

I would expect that Yee would have screamed that from the rooftops in his statement today.

If you break a phone the data can be peserved, if you put it in water it can also often be restored. The only way to destroy the content is to nuc the thing.

Yes, Goodell would really use the term. why would the NFL say 10 of 12 balls were deflated by .2 psi? As we know now, they weren't.

No reason to say anything to the public right now. They talk about it where it really matters.

What possible downside would there be to it, considering how Brady is being universally bludgeoned by the celll phone thing this evening?
