That no one is talking about footballs. Now it's all about a phone. 4 games for a phone. That's all anyone is talking about. His legacy is "destroyed" because of a phone. Not footballs. Curran is bailing as well. They all are. Florio. Everyone. The NFL knew what it was doing all along. Outrage over a phone.

I thought this was about footballs and PSI?

Federal Court isn't gonna care about a phone that the nfl had no power to compel Brady to hand over.

Thus making a defamation case all the more realistic

Unless you can explain this, then none of the rest of the case matters. It's a huge gapping plot hole worse than the kid in home alone calling the pizza guy and when the hobbits decided not to use the gryphons to fly to mount doom. Although probably on the same level as Batman somehow instantly getting from the hole in the middle east to back to Gotham without any of his gear.

Exactly. But now it's about the phone. Which is why I'm thinking his HOF status is gone. I'm not so worried about the court system. I'm looking from a media angle. So much has been lost so far. Maybe he'll get in second or third ballot but I'm afraid the NFL at long last has accomplished what Manning couldn't. Relegate TB to second tier status.

That's how the NFL goes about it's business. Remember when Vincent punished Brady? Remember when the NFL was called out because only Goodell could punish Brady per the CBA? All of a sudden, we are to believe it was in fact Goodell that punished Brady all along. They move the goalposts with straight up lies every statement they make.

It's a straw man defense. They put BS out there, we call them on it, they focus somewhere else. Now, with the phone, they have the ultimate weapon. I've been called a moron already. Why would an innocent man destroy a phone? Around the time of the meeting? I personally think there is more to this story. Regardless, the phone is the shining beacon for them in the public realm.

Judicially, it won't matter as posted above. Judicially won't even move the needle of public opinion.

Re: St Louis Cardinals.

My biggest problem is that only 1 side of the story has been told.

Going with a Boston reference, Brady is being told, "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes.". While I certainly agree with "loss the battle, win the war" mentality, it takes alot of fortitude to stick with it. Keep going Brady, take them all down.

goodell talked about football in his appeal ruling:

"Second, at least by the time of the AFC Championship Game, the inflation level of the footballs was a matter of particular interest to Mr. Brady. He told the Patriots' equipment staff that he wanted the footballs inflated at the lowest permissible level; he reviewed a highlighted copy of the provision of the Playing Rules that addressed inflation of footballs; and he instructed the equipment staff to present a copy of the rule to the game officials. On the day of the AFC Championship Game, Mr. McNally told referee Walt Anderson that Mr. Brady wanted the balls inflated to a pressure of 12.5 psi. He told the investigators that "Tom ... always has me pass a message to the Official's [sic] that he likes the balls at the minimum permissible PSI of 12.5. ... I know this is what Tom wants, and I have been personally told by him of the ball weight preference."

can anyone tell me what the problem is?

Hmm seems like an open and shut case. Goodell should have been Brady's lawyer.

Did we all notice... the media plays to a cycle?

Phase 1 - Outrage!! Pitchforks!! Burn the house down!!!
Phase 2 - Calm somewhat ensues. The bigger picture begins to be digested.
Phase 3 - Reasonableness and reality sink in .. .this is the phase where we think the tide is finally turning ...
until.....
Phase 4 - NFL releases a red herring to return us all to Phase 1.

Except this time the NFL has played all its cards. Its up to TB's legal team to finish the job. Give me one truly independent arbitrator and we will see this house of cards fall.

Re: St Louis Cardinals.
Why didn't goodell come out and say this months ago.? Because it's another goodell lie. If Brady had destroyed his phone we would have heard about it in the begining of all this. All goodell has to do is say something like this and the media will eat it up and repeat it. It then will become fact like the -2lbs psi has become even though it's a lie. It's a pe-emotive move designed to further tarnish bradys image and divert attention by a desperate piece of ****.

Arguably it came out in June at the appeal. Still, seems strange all around.

Funny thing is I got a new phone and gave my old one to my 10 year old, who promptly took it surfing and destroyed it today. I better watch out for Rodger!

Like your post but Florio hasn't bailed and I highly doubt Curran will bail although his last article is "dubious". (I think that's one of his favorite words)

This post reminds me of the Battle of New Orleans.

In 2015 we took a little trip
Along with Colonel Brady down the mighty Mississip.
We took a little bacon and we took a little beans
And we caught the bloody Roger in the town of Foxboro.

[Chorus:]
We fired our guns and Roger kept a'comin.
There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago.
We fired once more and they began to runnin' on
Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.

Matt Chatham is still going strong, but he's not the kind of guy that's going to reach the people that need it most. He'll continue to make me feel better, though.

Patience my friends. This is a marathon not a sprint. The NFL will control the narrative for most of this week and the results will be very painful for us for in the short run.. However the holes in their case are still as week as ever, but the truth will eventually come out, as more incisive reports will begin to emerge, at least from those who have some character. Florio's response is just the first of many that will bring the to light to the NFL's sham over the next few weeks

The NFL just shot its wad. This will be their high water mark. The worst is yet to come for them. (and if Brady isn't ready to ALL the way with a defamation suit after he wins the suspension case, I will be VERY disappointed in him
