And POOF! There Goes the NFL Complaint About The Cellphone Up in Smoke!

The entire leak is just another in a lame attempt to tarnish Tom Brady, and some how control the narrative. It will get some strong initial play and be painful for a moment, but this is nothing but a Red Herring and a weak attempt to deflect the weakness of their case, and their inevitable defeat .

In Yee's statement he made what I think is a key remark. He promised to reveal proof of the "unprecedented" amount of electronic information that Brady offered the league. He implied a lot more than the spread sheet mentioned in this thread. Eventually it is going to come out that Brady was more than forthcoming and reasonable to the NFL's requests on this matter. Not was he being accused of a crime that didn't even happen, he was convicted with nothing but innuendo and bad science. The whole charade was a sham and the NFL's strategy is to fling more mud on the player who most deserves to be their shining example.

CNN this evening: Brady Hid Evidence; Destroyed His Cell Phone

You don't just get to turn the question around.

Yes, actually, I do, particularly since you've asked the same question/made the same comment more than once, and people offered reasonable possibilities as to why Brady might have destroyed his phone.

Because no one can give me an answer that isn't "who cares".

It's been answered a whole bunch of times in the threads. Now, again....

Why shouldn't Brady destroy his phone?

Btw...do they have pics of destroyed phone? Is it really destroyed or is it in a safe place(battery removed) , to use in Fed court if needed ? Brady setting them up? He was lawyered up immediately, doubt he did anything without them agreeing. In what universe would you hand over your private cell to well and co. ? Which has proven from day one they are full of leaks.

If you're answering as a lawyer, sure he can destroy it.

If you're waging a war of public opinion, the optics are horrible. Lots of downside and no upside.

This case is going to Federal Court. The optics, as you put it, are now meaningless.
How were those optics on the day of Mort's report?
How were those optics on the day the Wells report was released?

Will people never learn?

If there was never a crime and you didn't do anything but your phone has possible consequences regarding non-related issues such as marriage, friendships, contracts, embarrassing statements etc... then you might destroy it to protect others or yourself from an embarrassing leak.

Again there isn't any proof that any air was taken from the footballs so until someone shows me scientifically that a "crime" was committed the rest of this is just a continuation of the NFL scrambling to protect itself from its self inflicted scandal.

Public opinion wont change for the better no matter what proof there is. Except NE, no one will ever believe Brady, they hate him and Pats. If there was a video of all the events and it showed no tampering , they would all believe it was doctored .

ps with the suspension remaining at 4 games , is proof beyond a doubt that this was a witch hunt. Anyone remember Hardy ?

Believe what you want, but Brady's case and reputation were both very slowly but surely recovering over the past month as many big named national media personalities started to publicly come out and question the validity of the Wells Report. Public opinion was shifting if only a little bit. Yesterday was better than May 7th for example. All that is now gone with even some of the staunchest local defenders left speechless.

Seriously, for those of you still wailing about this....

Are you people brain damaged? Does time not function in your world? Are your memories all damaged?

The Patriots turned over the 'spygate' tapes. The results:

  1. Tape leaked
  2. Patriots still called cheaters
  3. Claims that tapes were destroyed in order to protect Patriots

To repeat a question I asked just a couple of minutes ago:

Will people never learn?

In all seriousness, who cares what others think? The opinion(s) of others (in any area of life) is/are entirely uncontrollable. Why would one waste time worrying over something out of their control?

And we know what happens every-time the NFL starts to lose public opinion. They release something that turns the conversation away from their failings and problems. They move the spotlight onto something else and everyone follows along and forgets what they were looking at in the first place.

Simple fact: Brady's council does not care if you believe him. The NFL does, but not Brady's lawyers. So the NFL will pander to the fans and will put out statements with juicy quotes, soundbites and information while Brady goes to court and does this through legal channels. Court > ESPN.

Because sports are supposed to be a type of fun escapism and that has basically been destroyed for me and a lot of other people.

100% This.

*I* saw the tapes on the FOX show. So did millions upon millions of other people. It showed the defensive signal, then a quick pan to the down and distance on the scoreboard. It repeated 3 or 4 different times.

People outside of New England must have seen this too. I'm pretty sure the entire country was getting the broadcast.

Up until now all appeals to common sense indicated that there was no nefarious plot to deflate footballs and whatever deflation was due to natural causes. It is very difficult to appeal to common sense and justify why an innocent man would destroy evidence that could be used to exonerate him if truly there was nothing incriminating on the phone. Even if there was information on that phone that could be misconstrued, he could have simply refused access.
By destroying that phone, he just cemented the notion that he was hiding something, especially in light of the "deflator" texts. The only thing he possibly gained was four weeks pay (unless there was information there that the NFL could use for a much more severe punishment). Unless it comes out that the phone was never destroyed, his legacy is irreparably damaged.
What is also puzzling to me is how in the world have McNally and Jastremski been so quiet throughout this whole affair? One would think there would at least be an interview or something that would either be a denial of any wrongdoing or a bombshell revelation of a secret plot.

I personally think the nfl waited until now to drop this "bombshell "because as someone above pointed out in the last month or so Brady was starting to gain some support....so they drop the upholding the suspension at same time they release this....why? Because than all of these borderline people think wow he really lied so the 4 games is the right choice, the nfl was right all along etc. It's amazing to me that their so willing to just throw this out there but have yet to publicly admit they left the wrong psi results out there for months along with other false reports!
