How I Feel - MERGED (by accident - Ian) Brady Suspension Upheld

As much as I love Tom (favorite Patriot of all time), and as much as I've defended him tooth and nail, IF he destroyed his cell phone to hide evidence, I'm done. Im accepting that the Pats cheated. Im just gonna move on with this. It is what it is. Does he deserve 4 games for this even if he cheated, compared to the other suspensions, hell no. But he's not going to get this lowered. I don't think he goes to court, I think he just accepts it. No way he can win in court if he destroyed his cell phone. What's worse, if he goes to court, he'd be legally under oath, could actually do jail time if it's found out if he's lying in court. So he can't lie about IF he destroyed his phone and can't lie about why he did it.

As ****ty as the Wells report is, and would probably get destroyed in court, this relevation hurts his chances. I feel he just accepts his punishment like Kraft did.

How old are you...16? The phone is irrelevant in a court of law.

Im glad you think thats all that matters. But I disagree.

It is all that matters. If you care about other people's opinions, that's on you. But opinions won't take any of those rings away.

The more I think about this, the more it feels like a ploy by the NFLPA.

Brady tells Wells that he can't have his phone, even though he and Yee knew it was already "destroyed" in some manner.

Goodell hits with the four-gamer.

The NFLPA gets involved, hires Kessler, and they sit on this info for close to four months, and only reveal it right before the appeal ... even though they never had to advise Goodell of the state of the phone in the first place. Then they hit him with a letter saying, "Guess what? That stuff's gone for good. We dare you to uphold this. Pretty please."

Then court, where the NFLPA can go HAM on Goodell, because they have the perfect case and client to do it.

It feels planned to me.

So because Brady upgraded his cell phone ideal gas law and science suddenly became wrong?

The report specifically says that he didn't destroy his older phone when he upgraded in November. So why destroy this one, especially within a single day of the interview?

It's suspicious, don't be a moron.

So the NFL is saying "we think Jastremski and McNally were illegally deflating footballs. We got their phones and there's no communication about it with Brady on them, so Brady must not have talked to them about it. BUUUUT maybe Brady talked to some random third party about it, for no reason we can think of, but he destroyed his one phone he used from November to February, soooo he must be guilty."

'There is no court of law here, just common sense, you dont destroy a phone while your going through this, it reaks of quilt.

Christ, people. This could be as simple as Brady destroying his prior phone as per usual when he gets a new one, but later discovering he hadn't trashed the prior one, and thus gave info from it to the NFL in good faith. If Brady wanted to, he could easily have trashed that phone too (or simply say he did) and that would be that. Instead, he tried to be helpful and submit some data from that phone, and look what it got him.

Yep nfl put their spin on it and everyone is buying it. But they don't realize cell phones aren't going to matter when it comes to federal court. Like i've been saying if it was so open and shut why did goodell take 35 days and talk settlement? nfl doesn't have subpoena power, therefore the fact that Brady got rid of his phone means absolutely nothing other the public perception of it.

************ Adrian Peterson was indicted on child abuse charges and his suspension was overturned by Doty.

The science proved that the balls were not tampered with, everything else is noise. Goodell was floundering for something to go after Brady with.

Brady better sue I want NFL exec phones subpoenaed.

Man looks like not a smart decision on Bradys part. Could have shown the court the phone so NFL had nothing.
This only matters if he was suing them civilly for defamation. The NFL has no right to Brady's phone for this investigation and the appeal in federal court will be for unfair labor practices and the NFL is bound by the evidence presented in the Wells report alone. This is all a faint.

This is a bad bad look and everyone who is burying their heads in the sand about it needs to wake up.

Lol I literally said like a week ago how since all the information is out in the open that it can't get any worse. Well it just got worse. Much much worse.

You're forgetting one important point. The NFL* lies. All the time. Their report has zero credibility.

If I didn't love the Patriots more than I hate the NFL front office I would be done with this BS.

gonna watch whatever team the pats put out there, but I am never spending another cent on anything relating to the pats or the NFL.........to me it'll be like watching professional wrestling or something

I mean there are many reasons to destroy a phone (or computer):
  1. Nothing is every really deleted when you wipe a phone, so best practice is to "destroy" it if you can afford to
  2. Brady might have embarrassing information on his phone. Let's speculate:
    • He could have said negative things about the Goodell, Kraft, Belichick, etc.
    • He's an athlete, he could be having an affair (I'm not saying this is likely
All this comes with the backdrop that the NFL is leaking like a sieve...

Thats not really the problem, regardless of what happens now it will be very clear to the general public that Brady is a cheater, he destroyed his phone, really? Sorry that is not a coincidence. Im so disappointed.

No way around what he will be called and sure looks like...

You should really relax. You worry too much. NFL had no right to Bradys phone ...Period. Its off to court they go.

Someone wake me up at the end of all of this. I'm tired of this whole thing to where I can't even get mad anymore. Let Brady play that's all I care. I hate the NFL front office but the NFL is like a drug for me, I'll watch no matter what. Hopefully in due time the corruption in this league stops someday though.

What did he say in regards to the Vikings/Panthers thing?

Goodell:
"The conduct at issue here is also very different from the ball-warming incident in Minnesota last year, in which a Carolina Panthers ball attendant was observed warming a ball on the Vikings' sideline; there was no evidence of any intentional attempt to violate or circumvent the rules, no player involvement, and no effort to conceal the ball attendant's conduct. As Mr. Vincent testified, the ball never got into the game and the matter 'was addressed immediately.'" (emphasis Goodell's).

So because Brady upgraded his cell phone ideal gas law and science suddenly became wrong?

None of us know what happened, but the science is not as clear cut as many here suggest, because the underlying facts are unclear. We don't know, for example, which gauge was used to originally measure the balls, we don't know what the initial measurements were, we don't know exactly when each ball was measured during the halftime break (with each passing minute making a marked change on the psi). The science is inconclusive. The other evidence is relevant. While not a slam dunk by any means, there are one or two texts that are tough to explain. Brady throwing away the phone makes it look worse.

'There is no court of law here, just common sense, you dont destroy a phone while your going through this, it reaks of quilt.
Destroying it or not he wasn't going to give his phone up in the first place as many has argued here that he shouldn't.

how long will it take to get a injunction?

I assume Kessler was ready for this and the papers will be filed soon. Like the Vilma case, I expect/hope the suspension will be stayed before the season starts.
