How I Feel - MERGED (by accident - Ian) Brady Suspension Upheld

Wait wait wait, you're telling me that brady bought a new cellphone in march, and so because he bought a new cellphone hes getting suspended the same amount of time as a man that beat his girlfriend and through her on a pile of guns?

The paragraph before they talk about destroying his phone records they say Brady's counsel submitted phone records from his carrier. o_O

When I worked at Citibank's IT department I once was told that every time they upgraded computers from a department, the old machines were sent to a warehouse and the hard disk completely destroyed, with a drill right in the middle. That was standard protocol, even for low level employees that most likely didn't store anything confidential.

Heck, I have 2 old cellphones in a drawer in my bedroom, I don't even know if they still work, why would I sell them, for how much? No one buys deprecated cell phones. I'm planing to move next year so I'm already in the process of throwing out old stuff, I'm gonna throw both of those old cellphones in a trash bin.

Now, think about a celebrity that can have all the new mobiles in the blink of an eye, for free, every what, 6 months or so? What would I do with the old device? Give to a nephew? Give to the kids to play with it? If this goes to wrong hands it can be a pain in the ass, I would destroy it too.

I'm not saying that that was what happened, just that it can be extremely normal in the celebrity world to have some sort of protocol regarding confidentiality, things that we don't even think about.

It'll be interesting to see what statement Brady's team issues in response. If Brady did destroy his phone during the investigation, then yeah, that's pretty damning.

Not going to lie, up until now I was very confident that Brady was innovent. Unless the NFL is lying (or lying by omission), I kinda have to question that now. Hopefully there's a good explanation or refutation for this.

How many times have we seen this same thing play out? 11 of 12 footballs. Colts balls not deflated. The 'deflator'. Exponents science proving deflation almost certainly happened.

Then more information trickled in and we got a better picture, a clearer picture that supported Brady and the Patriots. No doubt in my mind we'll see that again here. Maybe he was given bad advice, maybe as a celebrity he routinely cycles through phones/wipes data to keep hackers from personal info and that was the case here (though I think everyone can agree that if that's the case, he should have kept this one). Whatever the case, I'm sure there's a logical explanation because the science is on the Patriots side: there was no deflation, so Brady can't be 'guilty' of anything.

Ok I truly think it's Bradys team to break the silence. I agree with everyone it shouldn't matter what he does with his phone and how you can still get records from provider, however knowing your being investigated he would have to know it would look bad and give the nfl ammunition to make him look guilty. They really need to speak up and not wait! Reply to this today!

Seriously, this. Even if Brady did destroy his phone, why the hell would he admit to it? Just say "it's my phone, and no you can't have it".

I think there has to be more to this story. But if there's not, and he did trash the phone right around the same time that Wells wanted to question him, then of course that looks bad. I just can't think of a single good reason why he would do it.

I do get why a celebrity would want to trash phones when they're done with them. If Brady trashed the phone pre-investigation, then that makes sense and should be clarified by Brady's team right now. If they trashed it after the investigation started, then that looks really bad, regardless of the fact that the NFL had no right to demand it.

wiping your phone doesn't necessarily remove the private data on it. Same as deleting a file doesn't mean its really gone for ever. I recover lost data for people/companies as part of my business. As I said in my other post, even I destroy my own hard drives and old phones, though I'm not rich so when I destroy them they are pretty well used and not worth much anyway.

With that said, if I magically got my hands on one of Tom Brady's used cell phones (if he didn't destroy them), I can guarantee I'd be attempting to recover what was ever one there! So it's smart of ANY high profile celebrity to destroy their devices, or you may end up with its contents on TMZ and all over the internet.

Good point, I stand corrected.

Hmm uh weird.
Not really for a person in his position. It wouldn't surprise me if this is standard practice among the celebrity one percent.

Nonetheless, it's not a great look that it happened during the investigation.

Can we not just be biased annoying fans who completely dismiss brady destroying his phone? If it's true then it's embarrassing to try and figure out why he would ever do that.

Giving up his phone is a differnt matter completely.

Oh i'm gonna completely dismiss it because the nfl is using the word "destroyed" in a way to paint Brady as guilty. Brady is not obligated to give up his phone to them, they don't have subpoena power. the nfl and the wells report did nothing to prove Brady was aware or instructed the balls be deflated. This is the point that will be argued in court not vague text messages and that Brady got a new cell phone.

What does destroyed mean? Before he knew that anything was wrong he upgraded his phone and threw out the old one? I mean context is important right?
His toddler daughter probably dropped it in the toilet.

Camp opens tomorrow, right, and practices begin Thursday? It's going to be a complete clusterf#ck down there, and an even bigger one if Brady's camp doesn't make SOME sort of statement.

So Albert Haynesworth got a 5 game suspension for stomping on a players head and Tom Brady got a 4 game suspension for stomping on his phone....

Makes sense

look, I'm homer just like the next guy here.... but if you're getting a new phone, no need to destroy your old one just because you're a 'high profile' athlete.... a simple wipe out of the phone can do the trick.

That is simply not true. A wipe does zilch but keep info from non-technical people. Go ahead and wipe your hard drive or Sim card and I'll bring back 90% of your data with a cheap $40 program. If I want to spend hundreds I could get it all. If I want to spend thousands I could get nearly everything that ever existed on it.

Edit: I didn't see your response to another poster prior to writing this. Not trying to pile on.

I hope that Brady takes Goodell and the NFL to court and blows this fraudulent "investigation" right out of the water. I used to enjoy watching the Draft and other shows on NFL Network and paid money for features on their website, but no more. It's sad really.

This is bad. Brady and his counsel provided notice from his phone carrier that text messages could not be recovered from the destroyed phone.
These are not the actions of an innocent man. I am sorry but we have been backing the wrong tree. Kraft knew it. BB knows it.

This is why I think Bradys team needs to speak up now, explain what this destroyed means and definitely get the point out there if this is the nfl once again taking a small piece of information and distorting it to suit their conclusion.

The NFL will not lose in court. This will NOT end well for Tom Brady.

But hopefully... all this drags beyond next season, where Brady gets his 5th ring in the biggest FU of all time!

I'm not being biased. This is not the first time the NFL* has lied. I will not overreact a second time.

i believe brady has to speak to the media now...should be awkward.
stephen a ******* was right about the phone being destroyed. so absurd i couldnt believe it but now it happened

Like I said though, IF IT'S TRUE, even though brady has NO legal reason to give it to goodell it's still extremely fishy.

If this was happening to Peyton manning many around here would be laughing out loud at colt or bronco fans saying it's no big deal he just happened to destroy the phone known he's gonna need it if he wants to bring it to court.

Like I said tho, this all lies within if it's an actual fact.
