How I Feel - MERGED (by accident - Ian) Brady Suspension Upheld

It'll be interesting to see what statement Brady's team issues in response. If Brady did destroy his phone during the investigation, then yeah, that's pretty damning.

Not going to lie, up until now I was very confident that Brady was innovent. Unless the NFL is lying (or lying by omission), I kinda have to question that now. Hopefully there's a good explanation or refutation for this.
I am holding out until I hear a response from Brady's team on this. I mean if Brady upgraded to an iPhone 6 and threw out the old phone before the investigation started that's not damning. I really think Brady needs to speak on the issue. If it's more spin, he needs to come out and defend himself already.

Why does it matter if he destroyed his phone? He wasn't going to give them his phone anyway and they weren't going to get it, so why is this being portrayed as a heinous crime now? I mean, I get why this hurts in the court of public opinion, just not in the facts of the case.

how long will it take to get a injunction?

They already have all his communication to the dorito dinks anyways. Doubt this saves Goodell.

@FieldYates: Other settlement news, via @JarrettBell: Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's suspension has been reduced from 3 games to 2.

NFL trolling

I don't give a damn if the man sent his phone to the moon. It's his freakin phone. He paid for it. He can do what he wants with it. They had the texts from the two knuckleheads. They know what they talked about. What more do they need?

I agree that the timing is key here if a phone was destroyed. If the issue is that they wanted texts from the "deflator" time period but Brady had gotten rid of that phone before the investigation even started, then this is yet another non-story deflection by Goodell. If the phone was destroyed after the investigation started, then that's a problem.

Expected. Who knows what will happen in court because the pats have has their asses handed to them every step of the way so far.

NFL 'Mr. Brady testified it is his practice to destroy or give assistant to destroy cellphone and SIM cards when he gets a new cellphone'

I destroy my cell phones, and computer hard drives when I'm done with them too. I see nothing wrong with this. I'm make a fraction of a percent of what brady makes, so when I destroy my cellphones they are old, used up, and not worth much anyway, but when you are worth hundreds of millions of dollars, destroying a cell phone worth a few hundred dollars isn't a big deal. Especially when you are a celebrity and living in a day and age where people want to leak any private photos or text they can get there hands on.

Supposedly the NFL in a statement says he destroyed the phone.

Why wasn't that put either in a) the Wells report or b) then punishment letter?

Do not let the NFL lie to you. Ask yourself, why is this being said right now? Answer: The NFL knows it will not matter to the public. It already is everywhere like wildfire now.

Brady needs to have Yee or Kessler debunk this right now. Unless....Nevermind it's the NFL. There is no unless.

Taking it one step further, I don't care if he was in the bathroom with Dorito Dink deflating the balls himself and they produced a video of it. IDGAF!! #FREEBRADY

I am assuming that like most everything else, Wells twisted the facts about the destruction of the cell phone. But if he did destroy it on the day of the interview or shortly before, it does look really bad.

But why is this fact being issued two months after the Wells Report was issued? Wells was interviewed and never mentioned it and it wasn't in the report.

cant the cell phone info be obtained from toms carrier? if my employer asked me for my personal cell phone. i would tell them to stick it on principal alone. i dont care how it looked.

Hmm uh weird.

It doesn't seem weird to me that Brady would destroy his cell phone when he gets a new one. He is a high profile athlete who has private info/pictures on his phone. Can you imagine what someone would do with his phone info if they found it? They would sell it to the highest bidder.

@ProFootballTalk: "In support of the appeal of my murder conviction, I would like to admit that I killed the guy."

According to the NFL's statement, they weren't aware that the phone was destroyed until after the punishment was handed down. I agree, Brady's team needs to make a statement explaining that right away.

The phone is a red herring, a misdirect if you will, by the league! They had no knowledge of what was on the phone, no right to look at his phone. So destroying it to get an Iphone 6 has no bearing on anything, other than Brady giving the league a big FU!
Just more smoke to go along with the NFL mirrors!

Hmm uh weird.
That part's not weird. The phone and its SIM card could contain contacts and other personal details that could potentially compromise Brady and his associates' privacy. The weird part is the timing of getting a new phone and destroying the old one: right in the middle of a dispute where his communications could have contained relevant evidence.

NFL putzes said:
He did so even though he was aware that the investigators had requested access to text messages and other electronic information that had been stored on that phone

What is other electronic information? Emails?? I think they wanted to go on a fishing expedition and this is his way of saying, "this is my personal phone. F you".

The other point " directed it be destroyed" implies he had someone else do it. Come on. All you have to do is "accidentally " drop it in the sink or the toilet and you accomplish the same thing....
I think they will find that this was a tactical move made with legal advice since it was so close to the time he met with Wells. Or it could have held incriminating evidence which is how the NFL will spin it...
