Brady and Company Make Offer

NFL reportedly sticking to 4 games per Schefter. Nothing to see here.
If that's true, then the NFL has decided either that there is a reasonable chance that a judge won't hear the case and that it is willing to take its chances on that.

I'm quite happy with the NFL digging in and Brady's camp taking it to court.

Not one person in the Pats organization should have the gall to pressure Tom into "taking one for the team". And I hope Tom feels the same way.

So you think a sham frame job from the beginning by the nfl constitutes as "nothing has gone our way"? It was never gonna because the nfl made the verdict before they even investigated.

Once this goes to federal court nfl loses all control over this, it's the reason why goodell has dragged it as far as he has. Once he makes his "decision", someone is sitting somwhere ready to file in federal court and also file an injunction that allows Brady to play until he has exhausted all of his legal remedies.

is the injunction a slam dunk???

So you think an outrageous and unfair penalty handed down by a biased, anti-Pats, agenda-driven league office, which has been unchecked by any opposition, is preferable to taking a chance in court where our side will be allowed to present a defense that can be fairly heard and considered?

I strongly disagree.

If you would read my post again, you'll see I haven't decided what is preferable.

There's an echo in the forum ...

Most of us have been saying all along that goodell want going to budge. See you in court, rog. Brady will never sit one snap for this farce

I look forward to the public outcry about goodell deciding that "more probable than not being generally aware that footballs were underinflated" is just as serious a crime as beating the living hell out of a woman

According to NFL radio this morning Brady and Company offer to accept a fine if the suspension is removed completely.

If this is done to avoid a court case it's probably a cheap way out but perception will be BradyBrady is guilty.

I see it differently.
This could be a shrewd move by the NFLPA.
Betting that Goodell will not accept this reasonable offer, they can "prove" to a judge that the league was not being reasonable and therefore the court must hear their case.

Many have speculated that a judge might refuse to hear the case because the parties needed to seek compromise. This would be prima facie evidence that compromise was sought but one party refused to bargain.

if the punishment stays at 4 games, yes

by the simple logic that the only reason the league waited so long to hand down a no change is to make it more difficult for brady to go to court and get an injunction on time........with that in mind, the leagues impartiality obviously comes into question and that justifies a review of the process that made the penalty.

the funny part will be how the league will try to expedite the process in order to make sure that in the even of the NFL coming out victorious that brady has his suspension served in 2015........they will then have to explain why the NFL process took 7 months to get to this decision........and with that in mind, that taking 7 months for the court to play out would not be unreasonable.......

I have said out here from the very beginning that Brady's interests and the NFLPA's interests could at some point diverge.
Obviously possible but I have always laughed at this idea. How bad does the NFLPA look if it were to not properly support TB and in the end one of their biggest members is unhappy with them.

why did it take the NFL only 5days to com eup with a punishment after the 243 page wells report, but it has been 5 weeks after the appeal and still no word?

if the punishment doesn't change, then this in itself will be grounds for an injunction

Need this to go to court to expose these fools. #nopicksnobanner

Accepting a fine for not turning over a phone (even if guilty) would be a terrible precedent. NFL should have no right to search thru a player's private / non-company data.
There is nothing to negotiate when a player is innocent, or when evidence is clearly lacking.

What about Indy tampering with game ball?

You're right that the NFL shouldn't have that right, but Brady's got to start weighing the pros and cons at that point. He can pay $50K and tell the NFLPA to do a better job on the next CBA, or he can take a case to court that has a realistic chance of getting thrown out without ever being heard.

That said, it's all a moot point. Goodell isn't going to give him 0 games on appeal, and even if he did, I'm not sure he can make an agreement not to go to court a condition of his appeal judgment.

I didn't say they wouldn't "properly support TB; of course they would! However, the "problem" could lie in the other direction, a situation that would likely arise if Brady's suspension is lifted. In other words:

Brady wants his suspension lifted.

But, the NFLPA wants to go to court and have a court find that the CBA Arbitration Process is (not sure of the correct legal term) invalid/illegal/something else bad, so they would still want to go to court over the Process itself, but Brady could decide that he no longer wants to do so if he can play the entire season without threat of suspension. In that case, their interests might no longer be on the same page.

NFL radio reports this? Why should I believe them?

Favre had already accepted such a fine, so the precedent issue was already moot.
