Stephen A Smith: Brady's suspension to be upheld, Brady destroyed cell phone

Here other thing Stephen A Smith said:
  • Kraft gave in because there is language in the Spygate punishment that if the Pats were caught cheating again, the League would ban Belichick. He gave in to protect Belichick.

Now that makes no f'ing sense at all.

If that were the case, then they could have just suspended Belichick at the outset. Why beat around the bush here?

Tom may have destroyed his phone anticipating going to court. The NFL can't demand his phone but
I believe a court case would make it mandatory if in discovery.
Destroying his phone doesn't necessarily imply guilt but rather his desire to protect
friends with whom he had confidential messages.

No, No, No..

First off, in court, they would subpoena the records from the phone company. AND unless the NFL somehow got law enforcement powers and sent a "records retention request" to Brady's carrier 6 months ago, any records from Brady's phone six months ago are long over written on the carriers servers.

All Brady had to do is delete any message he didn't want read off his phone. The phones do not hard drives, so once something is deleted its gone.

This is basically just misinformation, much akin to the 11 of 12 footballs sent out to cover them upholding the suspension.

Even though Schefter works with that **** network ESPN I can still respect his reporting. Gets called out and then backs it up with sources if need be.

Who were Smiths sources? The barbershop? What a hack job.
Disgusting that such a slimeball can avoid a defamation suit because he said "he's heard" that Brady destroyed his phone.

For all the poor fans that live outside of New England get ready for more truth from the haters.

I suspect you will hear things like Brady is guilty and a cheater. He destroyed his phone because he was afraid. It is now fact cuz Stephen a dumbass said so. Sheep baaaaaaa!!

Michael David Smith at PFT brings some clarity to the situation:

The part about Brady destroying his cell phone — the part that Smith acknowledges he doesn’t “know” — just sounds silly. Brady has already refused to hand over his phone to the Ted Wells investigation. It’s not like Wells has the power to send the cops into Brady’s house to execute a search warrant and seize his phone. Why would Brady need to destroy it? And even if Brady did destroy his physical phone, that wouldn’t make the records of any texts or calls to the Patriots’ ball boys disappear. The “report” doesn’t make a lot of sense, and if the “reporter” “hears” something like that, he needs to express more skepticism and ask his “source” to clarify where this “information” is coming from.

But that’s not how Smith operates. If he “hears” something that will get us all talking, he’ll repeat it on the air. And now we’re talking about Stephen A. Smith. Mission accomplished.

Unfortunately, that's how libel law works in this country. [I certainly don't want to go to the other side, though, and adopt UK libel laws.]

What is iMessage's role in record retention? I was under the impression that imessages are encrypted end to end, and apple can't even read them because the encryption is on the device. That is why the FBI has been freaking out about trying to get legislation passed so they have a backdoor through Apple, Google etc to be able to read them.

Also curious about data retention at the NFL. I know they are required to hold on to deleted emails for a couple years, is that done by a third party service?

They just played a clip on 98.5 from First Take where Skip Bayless mocked the report to Smith and Smith almost backed down from the report.

No they do not have hard drives but they do have non volatile memory. Unless the delete procedure overwrites this memory with all zeros, which more than likely it doesn't, then the information is recoverable at least to some extent.

Guarantee 98.5 is all about brady "destroying" his phone....can't wait to hear Carlton from Norwell chime in on my afternoon commute home:rolleyes:

imessages do not come through on wire taps.

Stephan A Smith has some weird hearing issues.

He can Hear brady broke his phone, but he never heard any of those women pleading for help as Mayweather beat them.

Anything of interest? I'm busy sneaking looks at this story at work. Have Bertrand, Jones, and Shank latched on?

He probably bought an iphone 6 when he got that apple watch the day after the white house visit...

Well, even Felger Jr. (Adam Jones) and the Curly Haired Boyfriend thinks that report is ridiculous. So that is how bad that report is. I am sure Felger and Mazz will pretend that it is 100% fact and spend 4 hours questioning why Brady would destroy the cell phone if he was innocent.

They all think the report is ridiculous. They don't buy anything other than the 4 game suspension is upheld. They are basically mocking Smith.
