Will Kraft Drive Away Brady and/or Belichick?

Kraft decided not to pursue an unwinnable appeal. He made the very tough decision to put his own interests aside for what he considered the good of the League. Most Patriots fans can't seem to fathom this, but this is what I think was going through Kraft's mind - and quite reasonably so.
You do not know it was unwinnable, that is an assumption that you create as the only support of your argument.
Kraft sided with the other owners over the Patriots. I have a problem with that.

Blaming Kraft for being on an airplane during Brady's appeal is typical of the overreaction on this board. (It's not as if Kraft hadn't already made his total confidence in Tom Brady and Bill Belichick publicly known immediately after the investigation started). I (and you) see the same type of overreaction from the Patriots haters over Spygate and Deflatehate. But people are people; only the object of their scorn differs.
Tom Brady has been judged a cheater. He appealed that and asked the owner of the team to show up an testify on his behalf. That isn't important enough to change your travel plans? Even if Kraft felt sticking to his itinerary was more important than Brady, his flight landed before the hearing was over. He also refused to testify by phone, when he was sitting on a plane. What is his excuse for that?

I'm OK with having a different opinion than 90% of the fans on the board. In fact I'm glad that I'm not living with the obvious frustration and even hate that so many seem to have. Kraft made a poor decision and will be vilified for it the rest of his life. There are no winners here.
Kraft is the one man with a responsibility to the organization that chose to turn his back on it.

Personally, I believe that Kraft is rooting hard for his team, his coach and his QB. Perhaps that's just me, my optimism and my faith in people including Kraft. It will be interesting to look back on this in 2 or 3 years with perhaps a little more understanding and wisdom of what has really been going on.

Kraft doesn't have to root against the team to be doing things detrimental to it.
I do not doubt he wants the team to win. But when given the choice between keeping the other owners happy and doing what is best for his team, the team comes in second.

If you can get your enemies to turn on each other, then you can win. Goodell and the LO at 345 Park Place are no longer the enemy. Bob Kraft at 1 Patriot Place is.

A simple strategy and it seems to be working.
The NFL is the enemy, Kraft is the one abetting the enemy.

Besides, the NFL didn't do anything to turn fans against Kraft, Kraft did that all by himself.

you have no clue what is being said behind closed doors.......stop trying to explain the context of everything on the surface because you just don't know......what you believe is no more educated than what I believe.....you want to hate the guy? knock yourself out

Brady's legacy will be fine with fans and he was already deplored by fans of opponents long before deflategate

stop being a drama queen.......brady's career is 90% over.........his reputation is fine as his is legacy.....stop being such a screaming victim

moronic analogy

you don't know how it works for these guys

you know this how?

been here the whole time........I'm just not a seething real life fitzy like you

Fans and analysts really do believe Brady is a cheater.

You are kidding yourself.

I have heard this in many parts of the country.

All the time where I live.

And people who don't know football make references to him as a cheater.

I think the bottom line is that Kraft is more concerned about his place in history than he is interested in winning. I now think the major reason he caved then made his pathetic concession speech is that Goodell and the owners like Rooney and Mara appealed to his vanity and said you will go into the Hall of Fame with BB and Brady if you play ball otherwise you will be an outcast like Al Davis. The problem is that BB and Brady are all about winning and not worried about getting into the Hall. I predict that there will be another sham violation and the League will come after BB. At that time I would not be surprised if Kraft fires BB.

Less than a year ago I would have considered this post "crazy talk".
But given the fact that a made up sting has seriously damaged our franchise (loss of picks, destruction of reputation) and its HOF QB's reputation, who here can tell me that "something" unprecedented will NOT again occur damaging the franchise?

We've seen the NYFL front office's undisguised hostility to the team. We've seen a rule enforced only ONCE in NFL history against the Pats that cost us a game. We've seen unprecedented draft pick penalties assessed.

Does everyone think "It's over now" between the league & the Pats?

I don't.

I fully expect something else to occur. I would not be surprised to see Vichy Bob turn on anyone he felt detrimental to his perceived interests.

negative things were being said about brady long before deflategate......

I'm not kidding myself......to see pro football as anything beyond entertainment is to be kidding yourself

people who don't know anything about football don't really matter, do they? I doubt they do to brady

you really think that being called a cheater, actually JUDGED a cheater doesn't matter to Tom Brady because fans of other teams say other negative things about him?
You don't think that it will matter to Tom Brady that when he is up fro HOF induction the media will be talking about whether he should not get in because he was caught cheating?

I'm sure that Tom Brady sees football as more than just entertainment.

How can you latch on to something happening behind the scenes when right out front Kraft is allowing his team and QB to be screwed?
What could he possibly be doing to overcome that?

Brady will be considered a cheater, and there will be no argument against it if he loses the appeal because he will have been suspended for cheating. That kills his legacy.

He has been judged a cheater, and his owner has refused to fight that judgment.

No its a perfect analogy because you are saying Kraft couldn't have stabbed Brady int he back and Brady can't be upset at Krafts actions because they have been together so long.

Nor do you, but you claim to.

Its a fact that Kraft refused to support Brady. Its common sense that Brady is offended by that lack of support.

Typical response. Anyone who sees a problem while you bury your head in the same is a fitzy. Hilarious.

those who are labeling brady a cheater are going to do so anyway......hell, most of them implicate him in spygate......who gives a ****......I'd bet brady doesn't

you are way way way too emotionally invested in this..........find a diversion until football starts

I don't believe Brady is sitting there wondering what the likes of you is thinking......yo make it sound like he plays football for his fans......he does it for himself....the rest is background noise

What in the world are you talking about?
This discussion is about Kraft's egregious lack of support for Brady, and how important this issue is to Brady.
It has nothing to do with me.

Your position that Brady cares nothing about his image and legacy is based on zero facts, contradicts his actions and seems to just be the last straw you can grasp.

Brady cannot be legitimately called a cheater if he is cleared. That is why he is adamant about clearing his name.
Do you think he asked Kraft to testify because it didn't matter and he doesn't care?
Brady cares.

oh ..... 'legitimately' ..... excuse me while I recalibrate my perspective

I'm back.........just as I thought......I will still wait until this is over to pass judgement on anyone

Where Kraft is concerned it IS over.
He had the opportunity to fight and chose not to.
He had the opportunity to testify for Brady and chose not to.
Are you waiting for Bradys lawyers to win, so you can give Kraft credit for that an exonerate him from his actions that were detrimental to the team and Brady?
Perhaps we will win the SB again and you can say we only won because Kraft got the team angry by caving?

looks like you'll have to find another team once brady is gone

Oh so you are one of those people that have to agree with everything the front office does no matter how stupid to prove your allegiance? Sorry.

no....I just appreciate the fact that if it wasn't for Bob Kraft, we probably would not have a football team here..............how he handled himself during deflategate is a relative spit in the ocean

before bob kraft, the pats got to one superbowl in 35 years.....since he bought the team, the pats have been to 7 in 20 years.......he's actually a good owner, and he has earned the benefit of the doubt to at least have this thing seen through to the end. the pats have been to 3 superbowls in 7 years since the last time they had a 1st rounder taken away.........the draft picks and $1M aren't as big a deal to an organization like this

but keep seething

If you want to believe that hiring BB gives Kraft a free pass for life, fine. I don't.
What Kraft did hurt the team and Brady. That is a fact.
I am able to separate that from every other thing that has happened in 20 years and view it for what it is. Apparently you are not.
Perhaps when Brady was sitting there wondering why the owner he won 4 SBs for wouldn't show up for him, he said oh well, we won 4 SBs who cares if I get suspended and labelled a cheater. I don't believe that.

With that, I'm done, this conversation has run its course.

It is difficult to "like" your post, but sadly, I agree with it.

I also think that the mask is coming off of the vendetta that the league and certain teams have against the Pats. With reports of owners lobbying Goodell to keep the punishments intact against the Pats it seems like they are beyond trying to hide it anymore.

who said 'free pass for life'? that's not what allowing the process to complete before judging means.......

you have no clue as to what a fact is.....but keep seething

With the 1st overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Stallions select........
