I just heard this on 98.5. So now Sal Palantonio is backtracking on his reports that Steve Bisciotti and Jim Irsay are pressuring Goodell to keep the suspension of Brady at 4 games. He blames Mike Reiss (didn't use his name, but blamed him saying reporters up in New England but Reiss was the one who first reported it) for taking him out of context and praised Bisciotti to come out on the offensive because Reiss unjustly smeared his name. Apparently, Bisciotti gave him an earful in a telephone conversation this weekend (he said they spoke).

I have heard the audio and it was pretty clear Sal Pal implied that Bisciotti and Irsay were pressuring Goodell to keep the suspension. Now he is using a war of semantics by saying he never used the word pressure.

What a loser.

Exciting reality show idea : Of everyone affiliated with the NFL, who is the biggest loser ? They could have retrospectives, polls, votes... Each week another "loser" loser would get voted out... $$$$$

Not surprised.

Leaks in the NFL are becoming so ridiculous that they have to retract them the next day before anyone else in the media actually pays attention.

What a joke.

Did anyone else see when this idiot tried to get an interview after the SB with Belichick and Belichick's response was basically "f*** off"

Great stuff.

Dopes realized that news that they were pressuring the independent arbitrator would lead to it being thrown out in court, so now they need to act like that's not happening. Waiting on that Mort correction still tho..

Of course he would frantically retract it if the pressure for the leak is thrown back on him. That leak makes the league look awful and corrupt (which it is).

And why the **** did I give 98.5 a quick listen? Now Adam Jones and Bertrand insulting us for thinking this is an issue and implying we are hypocrites acting like we appreciated Kraft's supposed "influence". ****ing sickening.

Pretty clearly it looks the the Gestapo, er, I mean, NFL Offices in Manhattan got to ESPN and the world wide leader pressured Paolantonio to do a whirlwind media tour to "clear" the names of Irsay and Biscotti. Won't be surprised if Sal turns up in other media markets as well refuting the report....

I heard the same thing. Spineless. Talk about journalistic integrity. NOT!!

One of the few times that I listened to 98.5 (or any sports radio) lately. Johnston and Flynn (or is it Johnson?) guys were going on and on about how sick they were of 'deflategate' but literally talked about it all afternoon.. mind blowing.

Anyways - I heard the Sal Pal clip and this was NOT taken out of context at all - so to agree with OP - he ABSOLUTELY indicated that there were owners pressuring Goodell. He even said "And I will list them" and mentioned names - Irsay and Bisciotti for sure - I thought he mentioned a few others as well.

So it is possible for an ESPN person to retract/correct a report. Clock's been ticking on you for a while, Mort.

Also nice Paolantonio to blame Reiss for reporting what he said.

One of my enduring memories of Pal Salantonio comes from the 2004/05 Playoffs when, in a transparent example of completely wishful thinking, he picked the Pats to lose to the Colts, Steelers and Eagles in three successive games.

The extended "shelf life" of many of the completely clueless, mediot pundits never ceases to amaze me, but in no case more than in the case of the longevity of this guy. He must have the goods on a lot of people in high places.

Better than sleeping with the fishes, I guess.

Didn't Reiss get that from SalPal and he goes and backs up the bus on him?

What a completely unethical, disrespectful loser.

Mike Reiss- If you are reading this.....get SalPal's cell # and inform that he is wormy "no-no word with umpires.".

love bill. i hope he continues to troll the national media..

no surprise about sal and espn. these are the same people who employ that ****roach, mortensen.

Funny how sometimes the NFL has the ability to quickly and decisively shoot down a false report, and sometimes they just magically don't.

Except when it's a leak about deflated footballs then they'll let that hang out there for a couple of months.

I liken the NFL more to the mafia than the gestapo.....

And if we're lucky, Goodell will be found with the fishes...
