Reiss Gives Roster Projection

1. I'm in the Alan Branch camp. Easley, Jones and Moore are all too similar for my liking as one gap passing down interior guys. The Bills and Jets will be running teams which is a quarter of the season. I think the third fattie is necessary.

2. I really hope Gaffney is given a chance - He's an explosive inside runner with the athleticism to be productive in the open field. I don't know what his injury status is but I can see him challenging Gray.

Yes, Gaffney will be given a chance. Reiss believes that Gray will beat him out. I age no strong feelings, except that both should be given a chance.

Your reading comprehension hasn't improved over the years.

I didn't say that McClain is an improvement over Arrington. As I said in March, I favored re-signing Arrington. Belichick signed McClain as an upgrade to Arrington. Given that he was losing Revis, Browner and Dennard, Belichick would have kept Arrington if he thought that he was better.

And, yes, you continue to believe that experience at a position means anything. There is absolutely no reason to believe that Ryan will be our slot corner.
Arrington was released because of his cap figure, it is flat out that simple. It had nothing to do with being better or worse it bad to do with money.

Ryan has played in the slot often in both 2013 and 2014. He has plenty of experience in the slot and was actually very effective as a rookie.

Arrington also proved he couldn't cover anybody but smerf receivers in the Superbowl.

McClain is not going to do any better in those situations.

Arrington was a fine nickel corner, and was poor on the outside. McClain is the same.

I wouldn't be that shocked if Branch were cut if the other DTs performed to their capabilities.

As for the other positions:
QB - agree;
RB/FB - Gaffney over Cadet (I'd also take Dion Lewis over Cadet);
TE - agree (but Tim Wright should've replaced HooHah);
WR - Brandon Gibson over Tyms;
OL - agree (like we have a choice: all the cuts are useless trash anyway);
DT - Alan Branch over Zach Moore, for now;
DE - agree, only because Bill would never cut Grissom;
LB - Hightower to PUP, Wells to Safety, Dane Fletcher & Dekoda Watson added;
CB - agree, for now (though I would love to see Dax Swanson out-perform Brad Fletcher);
S - Matt Wells over Ebner.

Tending to agree mostly, though camp performance will tell. As good as Ebner is on teams, he was a longshot once too and has no real upside. He and Wilson give us more possibilities in the regular defense and we are going to need some creativity there.

Not as big fan of Gray, he flashed against a tissue paper defense with an extra lineman. Our lead back is 250 lbs and Brandon Bolden is not a small rb, I'd rather keep Lewis even if we sign another 3rd round back, he is a real running back. Gray is a JAG IMO.

Should be a fun camp. Most of these issues will play themselves out in the preseason. Although there's a lot of interesting talent, there's hardly likely to be really painful cuts because positions in flux are hardly overloaded with prime talent.

I see Brandon Gibson playing. I don't see Dobson or Tyms being much more than the occasional deep route, so there's that.

I. One of his blog notes Reiss stated that Tymes had some problems at the end of OTA's. What were they?

Out of curiosity can anyone find a list of PS eligibble players currently on the 90. Now that it's gone from 8 to 10 may give us an opportunity to keep a few of these players that I like.

Problem usually is they have to clear waivers after being cut and former Patriots seem to draw more interest as opposed to other teams cuts.

Yeah, he did that last year. I suppose I could do the research myself, but it would take awhile.

I guess from my perspective I like alot of these young kids we have and hate to see them winding up elswhere. We have a very young roster. Injuries happen and the 10 on the PS certainly become pertinent as the season progresses.

I know if I buckle down and give it a first try the corrections will come about and a clearer picture will emerge with the contributions from our dedicated lot. Maybe tomorrow I'll give it an initial shot.

Camp starts Wednesday!

I can't open Miguel's May 3rd blog article. As of then 58 players were eligible for the Practice Squad.

Thanks. I could probably due some diligence and figure out who among the 90 would qualify.

Could this spell the end of the Jake Bequette era?:eek::D
