Ran across this based on comments on Reddit.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...elichicks-love-of-leftfooted-punters-unveiled

During Bill Belichick's 14 seasons as coach of the New England Patriots, he's started every single campaign with a left-footed punter. Because it's Belichick, multiple theories have been floated to explain his preference for lefties.

On Friday, Belichick pulled back the veil:

"You know, I've been asked about that before. I think it's a coincidence really. I don't go into it with an attitude like, 'We have to have a left-footed punter.' I know it's been that way.

Thought it was the way the ball spun or something. Funny that it apparently meant nothing.

he's up to something...dock the Pats another draft pick on the possibility that "Belechick more probably than not knows left footed punters kick deflated balls further"...yeah, he's guilty:(

I too always thought it had to do with the rotation of the football off the left foot. Do I believe BB....nope he is evil! Burn all left footed punters....no wait...burn all left footed people....at the stake. And take all draft picks until further notice.....

- Roger

(Hey Steve and coke head...is that enough?)

And given the political climate, I haven't checked if it is ok to make witch jokes or not, but I'm cleared - my 7th great-grandmother was killed during the Salem witch trials (not burned), therefore I am forever immune from offending witches.

The ghost of Susannah Martin says she is not offended!

Can you believe this crap,McG?? The two most vocal owners, one a convicted drug addict lowlife and the other tied into a Philly crime family by blood and business contact...and Mike Lupica/Mike Greenberg think BB should be incarcerated for failure to cooperate with the press.

The NY press is spectacularly oblivious

I didn't realize that ol' Stevie was an "associate" of Nicki....learn something new every time you drink! What would have my old landlord and Patriarca underboss Pauly Intiso (who gave me $5 every morning when I left the building he owned on the corner of Hanover street above the 7-11 to go to Elliot Elementary in Kindergarten and 1st grade, before moving to Waltham) Say?

Really nice condo's now by the way. But when I was 6 it was a bit rough. No bathrooms in the "apartments", each bathroom had a no **** stall in the hallway..ok we were able to ****, but it was like ****ting in a department store bathroom. Except your neighbors could steal your TP and ****...(if they wanted to0...assuming you didn't flush).

Sorry had a few beers and remembering my "family" ties. :)

Oh yeah lets allow our rivals to get 4 free games. Sounds good to me. I mean its all about the integrity of the game.

Lefties, eh? Belichick is probably a Communist. J. Edgar Hoover, I mean Roger Goodell, should tap his phone.

I went to LaSalle Academy on Smith St. in Providence. My older cousin, Howie had the landscaping job taking care of Raymond's home a few blocks away...so, uh, yeah...in the process of making some quarters to buy A+W root beers after running full court in the summer, you could say I met the old man on more than one occasion. Of course ,my Dad, a RI state cop and later a DMV investigator, was good friends with Joe P. who lived up in North Providence and was silent partner in Rossi's Auto Body. Vanity plates...you know...low digits with initials. R.I. ran this way for nearly 50 years...the bulls took care of the highways and the boys took care of keeping the streets safe for everybody's grandmother who went shopping on Federal Hill every Saturday. Lowest crime rate in state history was Raymond L.S.'s tenure as owner of Coin-O-Matic on the Hill. If Walter Stone, the head of the RISP, needed to make a point, he'd call Raymond up on the phone and insult him with a racial slur, at which point, Raymond would explode with rage...and subsequently, whoever it was that stepped on their ****, they became one and the same with a new foundation being poured on a housing plat in Johnston.

Those days are long gone...and so is the sense of public safety. Ironic, but true.

Do you have a low number plate?? Are you one of the families who pass it down generation to generation??

When I drive these highways and see a low plate, first thing I think of is who is that guy?? Who does he know...

When I was a kid at RIC, ran a red light on Smith Hill.. big fine for that time. My compatriots told me to go to the Boyle Funeral Home on Smith Hill and give them $25.00 dollars and it would go away. Thought it was strange, but did it anyways and it went away.

When I worked for the state always ran into vestiges of "the family" mentality, we had a purchasing agent who would award a contract and buy from that distributor, and all of a sudden Aunt Tilly from Cowesett would have a new stainless steel refrigerator delivered to her garage..

He's full of it on this one.

But it makes other coaches think doesn't it???.. in their heads!!! BB gets a lot of free rent in other coaches minds..

He absolutely does and will even more so with this deflate nonsense. It has to stop, though. It's gotten so bad that they almost can't stop the Patriots from being competitive, but they will be able to destroy the sport itself by awarding trophies to ****y ass teams like the Colts through rule changes and stealing better teams draft picks.

After all this, do the Colts even think they have a chance to beat the Patriots after getting destroyed and awarding themselves the crybaby runner up trophy.

What happens to the psyche of the rest of the league if they can win 10-12 games with Garoppollo at QB and they keep pulling players from Popeye's fried chicken that have impact in Super Bowls?

Psychological advantage made me think of something from an old Irish legend. Look up Cuchulain if you want to see what a competitive mindf*ck is. Won a battle after he was dead.

In the past, BB has commented on how the ball spins the opposite direction when punted by lefties. He stated that it is a significant factor for opposing teams, and had could cause issues to his own team because they could have issues catching punts from right footed punters after practicing with lefties. If I remember correctly, he also mentioned that although he covets lefty punters, it isn't a "requirement". He spoke about this quite some time ago, and I don't have a link.

Also, on the punting, besides the opposite spin, I wonder if there is some English on the ball similar to the junk a left handed pitcher naturally imparts on the ball. You baseball fans will know what I'm talking about. It's not explainable, that I know of.

Yeah, I heard he talked about it. fortunately for us, I think Edelman has a left handed brain.

I think you have a poor translation. Cuchulain was dead drunk.

In breaking news the NFL Competition Committee has just banned left footed punters, because right footed punters are "easier" to catch.... their rational was making the ball more difficult to catch, compromises the "integrity" of the game and tarnishes the "shield"..

BB in his best droll tone, "we will just adapt and carry on"!!!!

JO...I always wondered if it would be "safe" going out on the boat fishing with you...

Think I'll stick to fishing the surf...:)
