OT:Russell Wilson Contract Talks=Insanity

Wilson is a good QB. You can win with Wilson. He is more than a game-manager. BUT, he is MUCH less than a 22M$+ player. Rumours are he was offered 21 and said no...

Hopefully that gets done soon. That will assure their offense will stay mediocre as they won't have the capital to sign key pieces. They were pesky in the super bowl and I wouldn't mind not seeing them again.

awesome stat

Especially considering that we often have his record against Brady, Rodgers, Brees, and Manning jammed down our throats every time the media gets the opportunity.

I think Wilson is a fine QB, but the players around him are masking some obvious deficiencies.

everybody in the league wants to be the highest paid player --- what did miami sign wallace for?

all these guys are always bs'ing, shaking the tree to see what falls out.
if wilson passes up ~20m this year that's 20m he'll never see again no matter what he signs for 2 yrs from now.
both sides would rather have a long term deal, but seattle at least has him locked up for 2 yrs, and maybe a third if they really wanted to push the tag.

I agree. Funny, the mediots propped up Manning for years and that backfired. Rodgers hasn't and may never be what they want him to be. Bree's is what he is, not great but good. If any of those 3 had the success Brady has had they wouuldnt be touting Wilson as much. Luck has been backfiring as well.

Ehhhhhhh. NFC, so not sure I care.

But, if he helps up the mark for the jester-Jill's-phish contracts if their qb carousels ever stop on a winner, then have at it Russell -hold fast to your demands.

Maybe that will free up some of their other talent in FA down the road. though, that's too speculative/far away to even think about. But they do have a bunch of cheap late round/zu drafted who will all hit renegotiation in similar windows.

Russell Wilson is 0-7 when his team gives up more than 24 points.

sums up wilson. a glorified game manager.
if seattle had a mediocre defense, wilson would be exposed.

This.

Imagine if he plays for 1.5M instead of 20M. That is 18.5M he would need to recoup somehow to "make it worth his while" of playing hardball. All along, risking injury or exposure of his skills.

amazing how they can afford all of those players plus wilson....
makes no sense.
Wilson was playing on his rookie contract which is why they could afford to surround him with high priced talent. There's no way they can keep the same roster if Wilson were to collect $20+ Million.

they'll find a way to keep wilson with graham plus a new deal for wagner

they got a couple guys like lynch, but I wouldn't say they've really surrounded him with high priced guys --- a lot of cheap young guys, really.

saw a good stat on twitter -- let me see if I can find it........wait here......
looking........

looking..............

looking.......................

oh, no, wait - I'm still typing

7 of the 22 players listed as starters for Seattle are free agents after this season.

that was it, but I thought it was actually more for some reason

edit: and don't forget jimmy graham's salary jumps up 6m next yr

Running quarterbacks don't last long in this league. Warren Moon is the only guy I can think of that lasted a full career playing at high level. A lot of people will say Wilson isn't a running quarterback but he is and I really hope he gets his deal because he'll get banged up at some point and they'll be paying 21 mill to watch him rehab.

You mean like the Matthews hit on him first half of the NFC Championship game? More of those to come.
