As of this typing, it is Saturday at 2:04 and this report is nowhere to be found on Sal's employer's web site. It's not on the page, not on the NFL home page and not even when you do a search for "Sal Paolantonio."

I wonder why that is....

But Goodell delegating the original harsh punishment so he could take on the appeal himself and then leaking all this information about how he is trying to put pressure on Brady to accept a suspension without going to court makes a lot more sense if the context is Goodell trying to give the appearance that he is raking the Patriots over the coals to appease the Patriots' rival owners. This is making Goodell, Irsay, and Bisciotti all look extremely petty.

I am beginning to wonder how much influence Bisciotti has over Goodell. First they tried to cover up the Ray Rice investigation and now deflate gate. Maybe Bisciotti has something on Goodell?

(tried to cover up the domestic abuse committed by a former player)
(has a current domestic abuser as a leader of his team)

He thinks that the delay is over negotiations and despite the NFL's posturing on this, they know they're screwed if this goes to court. I hope it does personally.

Now if you stop and think about the context of this report, it's truly damning to Goodell and the NFL, indicating a conspiracy in which the truth - not to mention that the footballs weren't actually deflated - has nothing to do with the NFL's discipline.

He inferred that Kraft's decision to accept the loss of a draft pick might be the key to allow Goodell to agree to a compromise in which Brady would receive a letter of exoneration, plus a suspension or fine that was solely for his "refusal to cooperate"

It may be that Goodell agreed to that with Kraft but now is getting pushback from those owner, in particular the Colts and Ravens

I'd LOVE to see reporters more fully sink their teeth into this.

On one hand, that would be interesting if that truly were the case. On the other hand, that seems kind of stupid considering TB12 could have achieved the same result by going to court and winning anyway, without any capitulation by Bob. I guess it would maybe make the road there "easier" in a way, but I bet you Brady would've preferred a court battle and a retained 1st round pick vs. no court battle and a loss of a 1st (and 4th).

Just makes you laugh... Bob says "I'm doing this for the good of my business partners." His business partners now say "Hey Bob, f*** you!"

So we almost LOST the playoff game to the Ravens (down 14 not once but twice) because we lacked motivation? And we lost to the Ravens in prior playoffs because of the same?

I heard the interview, yet his ESPN came out a little bit too. He stated it is his belief that a letter of exoneration, PLUS a 2 game suspensions for "non cooperation" would be a "sensible" thing to do. 2 games for non cooperation? Is he high? See this is the problem. He may have deviated from the mothership by outing Biscotti and Irsay, but he came back a bit to center with his suspension idea.

Everytime there is a push, they get pulled back. Someone, anyone of high influence needs to finally break through. Not sure that will happen.

Favre got a fine for the same "offense". No suspension. No public vilification from mediots/Park Avenue.

Brady should and will not accept the punishment of games missed for something as frivolous as this entire bogus enterprise spearheaded by the mediots, the NYFL, and butt-hurt owners.

Choice quote from Sal's interview:

The bottom line is that the NFL's attorneys have most likely, from what I've been told, gone to the commissioner and said, 'We can't come up with a ruling that is defensible in court.' The NFL, I believe, thinks it's going to lose in court. And if they can't come up with a ruling on this appeal that is defensible in court, then they are going to look awful silly.

As it was "explained" to me in another thread in not so polite terms the only reason we beat the Ravens and won the whole thing was obviously because of the special motivation Brady had after the Chiefs game when some media suggested that Brady and the Pats were no good anymore. Perhaps fans who have essentially nothing to do with the outcome of these games are compelled to project their emotions on to the players as explanations for why they win or lose. Meanwhile Brady has shown me that he is a fanatically prepared and dedicated professional who brings his "A" game every Sunday of every season. In my view, the consistency of his performances defy any attempt to attribute his success to the vagaries of waxing and waning external motivation. As someone famously said, ignore the noise.
