53 Man Roster Projection 2.0 OTA, Pre-Training Camp Edition

Steve Balestrieri

With training camp less than 10 days away, it is time for our 53-man Roster Projection 2.0, Pre-TC edition. Lots of competition for reps and roster slots will be available this summer.

Obviously, the backup RB positions are wide open. In addition, Steve makes the following five choices for the bottom of the roster.

DEFENSE
IN: Ebner, Freeny, Morris
OUT: Moore, Watson, Wells, ****son, Wilson, Chris Jones
COMMENT 1: I'm fine with Ebner.
COMMENT 2: The battle for #5 LB is wide open.
COMMENT 3: I'd rather have a 10th DL (Moore or Jones) than a 6th LB.

OFFENSE
IN: Tyms, Derby
OUT: Gibson, Kline
COMMENT 1: We have two rookie guards. We need to keep Kline on the roster.
COMMENT 2: I suspect that Gibson will beat out Tyms, if we even have this roster spot.

Why the hell did he run it like that? I'm not clicking on each position Geez. Chris White has a 53 on WEEI this morning. This is the way Steve should write his column.

I really like White's 53. Only difference is that I have an extra lb. Because, I see Grissom more as a de. I'll say One Eye Wells instead of one of the rb's. I'll drop Cadet. I think Tavon Wilson makes it over Ebner. Tavon played meaningful snaps on defense and can play special teams.

I actually think there is a decent chance Derek Cox or Dax Swanson make the team. With the group of CBs we have it might be useful to keep another one. Not sure who that would push out though but I think Derby ends up on the PS as we keep just 3 TE's.

In a comparison of Ebner versus Wilson, Tavon wins hands down both as a ST and as a possible contributor to the regular Defense. Tavon had the most tackles on ST for the second year, I believe.

I thought Geneo, was an OLB and possible DE and Flowers was a DE, with a possibility of taking some snaps at OLB. Grissom makes the team as the #4 ,5 or 6 LB, while that enables Chris Jones to return as a DL.

It seems to me Moore is beating out the competition, for a spot at developmental strong side DE.
