".......The irony here is that the immense power that Goodell sought, power that once put him on the cover of Time magazine, posing as “The Enforcer,” is what might have him end up in federal court, even though our courts hate to waste time settling workplace disputes. If this thing does grind its way through the court system, it won’t be because of bad science in Ted Wells’ report about DeflateGate, or circumstantial evidence, or even logic that makes you believe that those two equipment guys in Foxborough took the air out of those balls without Brady’s advice or consent. It will be because Goodell is the arbitrator for his own case against Brady, in a system of justice that no longer works in pro football, one Goodell should have abandoned long ago......."

Honestly he wins until the NFLPA sacks up and goes after the CBA. Even if he loses in court he'll shrug his shoulders, said he tried, and use it to make another power grab. You have to think that this continued abuse of power would open the door to get the CBA torn up.

I imagine that's the whole point in why the NFLPA is backing Brady so hard.

FWIW I believe the CBA has an explicit severability clause, so that if the NFLPA succeeds in modifying the discipline system, it doesn't take out the rest of the CBA.

Wow spot on with that one.

this is getting comical when the NY Daily News starts to defend the Pats.

Goodell must feel the pressure and really has no clear way out of this.

What a ****....

And Brady thinks he shouldn’t lose anything except maybe some money; has clearly indicated that he doesn’t think he should serve four minutes of any suspension, much less four games. If he does, that is the same as pleading guilty to being a cheat with those footballs, whether or not he officially ordered the code red on them or not.

Key point, which is becoming ever more clear.

Wow, Lupica is a big name. That's gonna sting.
He's also a ****ing prick who absolutely was overjoyed by Deflategate happening. Imagine a lottery winner rolling around in a bed filled with $100 bills, that was Lupica and Deflategate. He's not defending Brady in any way shape or form in this article. Just saying the NFL has a lot to lose, and says Brady does too.

The problem is Roger knows the truth runs counter to his "go with the popular vote" mantra. His risk is the NFL being exposed for the truth vs being exposed for being incompetent vs the judge made me do it. He only comes out of this alive 1 way and even then, he'll take a little bit of a hit.

delay = deer in headlights.

Maybe the tide has finally turned, the longer Goodell waits the more obvious his pompous, arrogant attitude becomes.

Still await that blockbuster article in a national paper that links all of these loose ends and shows the web of incompetence and fraud that perpetuates the NFL Offices..

This thing is going to court next off season and Goodell will lose.

Brady shouldn't lose a dollar. Let Kraft bendover and give Roger what he wants.

I wonder if goodell is even smart enough to regret getting into this mess in the first place.

Does he lie in bed at night wondering "Why did I ever get involved in this fiasco? All I had to do was to issue a correction to the bogus reports about the ball pressure the day after the AFCCG and this would've been over in a day. What was I thinking?"

Glad for the article, but Lupica is a smug dork who here is right twice a day.

But then he masturbates, screaming, "Go Green, Go Green!!!" And all is right in Jetdell world.

Lupica read Sally Jenkins and wants in when Goodell gets stomped by Brady. Guy is a total phony, but anyone going after Goodell is a good thing.

Lupica's son is a HUGE Packer fan luvs Rodgers. He often has him on his Radio Show and with Rodgers saying himself that he likes footballs over legal PSI like 16 then why isn't he held accountable like they're doin to brady? Mediots can't tarnish Goodell's* Boy Rodgers now, they're running out of choices to replace Brady as face of NFL when obvious choice is (whether admitted or not) is Brady.

He has a way out if he is an honest judge; he vacates all penalties against Brady and the Pats due to lack of evidence.

If his motivation is something else?

Well that is where he has a problem.

Actually, Lupica is very much saying Brady has not been proven to have done ANYTHING wrong in Deflategate several times in that piece. Lupica slams Goodell and the NFL unequivocally now. This is a sea change for him.

Goodell is now on no position to punish Brady and come out in one piece. Lupica, Sally Jenkins, Peter King and Mike Florio are all firmly on one side of this issue.
