Goodell Being 'Pushed' By Influential Owners to Keep Brady's Suspension at Four Games

Can't the NFL PA walk into a courtroom silently, slap down the report saying that the alleged "neutral and independent" arbitrator is being influenced by other teams owners right on the judges desk, and then leave without saying a word?
No, goodell will just say he received no communication from an owner and he doesn't read papers.

Don't be so shocked that he'd be willing to lie.

How many of those owners are from the AFC East lol

yet another factor that will contribute to the polluting of the appeal process,

i thought the appeal process included Brady and his team as it is heard by Goodell and whoever works with him.

Now that the owners are in Goodell's ear, it is impossible for him to complete the process in an unbiased manner

going to be interesting to watch this play out in a real court as the NFL just gave Brady a ton of process related firepower

One spin that I quite like: what if these 'influential owners' are among those that needed convincing (by Kraft) that Goodell was their man? What if they're not at all happy with the past year of scandals blowing up in the face of Goodell--and by extension their own faces?

I think most if not all of it amounts to competitive jealousy and/or eyeing a competitive advantage. However it's a nice little pipe dream to think some of these owners see Goodell for the bumbling fool he is and are telling him 'you made your bed, you signed off on the initial punishment and now you have to stick by it'. I think they know the tide has marginally turned in favor of Brady/Pats, coming on the heels of the Hardy appeal decision Goodell would look ridiculous upholding 4 games for maybe kinda sorta knowing about possible deflation and not turning over his phone (a $50K offense per the Brett Favre situation).

Maybe, just maybe, they're looking at this from a PR perspective and want to see Goodell gone from their league, and this is how to get that ball rolling. Force him to keep the suspension, he loses the PR war, then he loses in court yet again.

I can dream can't I?

Hey Bob: with friends like these....

So running counter to this is Goody's, "I am not in Kraft, or any other owner's back pocket" perception. With that said, depending on the suspension being upheld, it could be interpreted that Goody is in the owner's pockets and just thinks Kraft is a wimp (which could be the case anyway) that he can push around or alternatively if he reduces it, he is eschewing the notion that he is not in ANY of the owner's pockets.

Interesting perception that Goody and his lackeys are no doubt is weighing.

What is that one in the back left doing? Is she single?

unless goodell's apparent incompetence includes a portion of the owners who are equally inept at dealing with discipline...........morons that grab full control then f*ck it up every step of the way.

the patriots generate more operating income per year than the bottom 15 teams in the league.........on top of that, they're hogging a seat at the AFCC....on top of that, the pats value growth is higher than any team in the leage

when it comes to income, it is really a 10-12 team league

it's the combination of kraft making money and the pats winning championships that is unmatched by anyone in the league.....at some point, there has to be other owners thinking 'he's gonna crush us'

You;d think Kraft would have understood just how much he's been ****ed by the rest of the league over the past 2 months and maybe change his mind a little.

But no

I can't wait for this whole thing to be over with... I also heard today that Brady may take a fine if they take away the four game suspension. Here is an article I found on that if anyone is interested.

yeah..the report coming from ESPN 6 months ago was the balls were 10 PSI...10,000+ ESPN/NFLN LIES later and THIS report is TRUE?

C'mon...it's the NFL blinking...total bullshyt

I thought the issue was integrity?
Why would owners of other teams be allowed to give an opinion, much less push for a punishment?
Why would Goodell be concerned with anything other than doing what is right?
How is he NOT conflicted and the worst person on the planet to be objective about this?

Funny, Kraft rolls over and let's his team, fans and players take a beating because he believes that it's in the best interest of the NFL in general but the other owners stab Kraft and the Patriots in the back to put their teams in a better position. When is Kraft going to realize that he is standing alone and that the other owners only think of themselves.

Goodell is just an ugly curtain for cowardly owners to hide behind.I really would like to know who these owners are.

I think get ol'get along Bob is more concerned with non-football matters at this time like counting his money and fantasizing what he could do with his escort.

Don't you know they are Kraft's beloved fraternity brothers whose teams and their fans he is concerned about.

I totally agree. But this whole negotiating thing gives me an ugly feeling. I will be pushed over the edge if TB caves

Thanks for posting something I've been meaning to post, but never quite got around to. you hit the nail on the head. And without us fans, he wouldn't have any of it. And I'll be laughing my ass off when he loses it. That will be his legacy. What a dumbass

Who knows what the league believes. This is what makes me so frustrated! While I was driving home, I was listening to John Clayton on local radio. He said there has to be some suspension. The Patriots were "caught" deflating footballs, they know who did it, and an "independent investigation" found Brady knew about it.

This is an NFL reporter who covers the NFL every f-ing day! He seems to be completely ignorant of the fact that it is most likely there was no deflation of the footballs and the Wells Report has not only been shredded, but also likely hired a scientific firm that gives the client the result it wants. If HE is that ignorant, what do you think other owners believe.

It's so frustrating the level of ignorance out there for those who should know better.

He is just spouting the ESPN party line as dictated by the POS commissioner.
