Patriots sign Tarell Brown

Let's hope this signing pans out, that a few of the CBs turn out ok, and the front 7 is epic.

I think this is the biggest point for me. I'm excited and optimistic about the front 7, so my standards for getting "excited" about the secondary are lowered. With McCourty at safety, I really only need the cornerbacks to be solid for me to feel really good about this defense at this stage, and adding a guy like Brown is one more roll of those dice.

Make the switch to Starbucks. I did a few months ago and haven't started the day with a bad cup of coffee yet.
Yep. Starbucks is a different coffee experience.

DD just gets the job done. Starbucks you want to savor (especially if you are dropping $4.84 for a mocha venti w/ foamed milk)

I don't consume any caffeine anymore. Best decision I ever made :)

But beta only measures the risk that cannot be diversified. It doesn't consider risk due to idiosyncratic factors. ;)

You've highlighted one of the reasons why I switched to managing my investments through my 401k and an active assets account (instead of picking my own stocks...).

Does anyone know if his season ending foot injury could be a lingering issue?

Yeah, I'm getting sick and tired of his stupid methods that only deliver gaudy win percentages and SB championships.

I re-read DI's post. It was NOT a criticism of Belichick's approach. He simply said that we'll see what happens, and we all hope that it works out.

Yes!!!!! I've wanted the team to bring in Brown since early FA. I'm hoping that his late signing is just him trying to get more $ vs his skill declining. Hopefully between one of Fletcher, Brown and Cox, one (or more) can rebound and be a quality starter. I think Brown is most likely to be that guy. The news puts a spring in my step today :)

I'm jealous. I've made so many mistakes that I would pay good money for "quitting caffeine" as my best life decision...........

According to Reiss, Brown is a contender for a starting CB spot. Not sure if this is an indictment on the talent pool at the position or belief that the Patriots have uncovered another "diamond in the rough"o_O

Reiss wouldn't know that directly, so what he says means nothing.

I don't think Brown has a lot left in the tank, but that's why the move works. He's a stop gap that can fill in while the Patriots find a better player. If Fletcher outplays Brown, Brown is depth for a season. If Fletcher is not working out, Brown fills in until either a trade, next year FAs or one of the young players grow into the role. Like I said, a stop gap.

Agree Ross, this has me thinking more about football now, can't wait until we get into training camp and start talking football again :)

I always thought DD was overrated, it's better than McDonalds but it isn't 2.5x as good (all about that value). Starbucks is pricey but it is great coffee. Not many make coffee as dark as them. I like it so dark that it disgusts me. Anyways as I hit post I forgot what thread I was even in.

SB wins are so mainstream yuck. It's all about big yardage and pro bowls and quite frankly BB isn't getting it done.

Not sure why you view it as such a shocking statement that a guy who has been in the league for EIGHT YEARS and has BEEN A STARTING CB on teams for at least several of those years (and been assigned Fitzgerald, Wallace, and several other #1s -according to videos on page 1 of this thread), could POSSIBLY COMPETE for that same position on this team. Gee, Reiss just went out on a huge ledge of speculation there.

I think the question is more, did his foot/leg injury in Oakland that landed him on IR, slow him down enough at his age (in nfl years -a seasoned , not yet senior, citizen) that he can't keep up. If not, he could be at least be in the 3-4 man 'starting cb' group. If he's too slow, then those game smarts he has won't be enough .

Coffee! Coffee! Coffee! I am partial to DD but that's mainly because the place I work at has one inside it, so I am there most mornings. But I do have to admit, Starbucks is #1, though there's only one around here and it doesn't even have a drive through, like WTF is that?! These people expect me to get off my ass, walk into their store, and then pay MORE MONEY for their delicious coffee?!!?? Yeah OK, I'll just keep spending $2 a day for DD for my coffee that they don't ever seem to stir.

But really, we are all starting to sound like Peter King here. Is "beer nerd-ness" next?

I'd be satisfied that dunkin even got your order right. One of my friends ordered a bagel once and got a hams sandwich. I'd say there's about a 20% chance of them screwing it up. Doesn't matter what dunkin you go to either.

Really? I love Tim Hortons. They just don't know how to toast things and their lids suck.

We buy the D&D bags and brew it at home AND buy the k-cups.

I tried getting Mrs. Robertweathers to convert to the Starbucks beans/k-cups but I lost that battle.

The coverage stats for Brown from that article are curious. He got lit up pretty good in some road games...except for Seattle o_O. Not sure if we can read much into that, but the contrast is pretty stark.

(I left out the SB, which was theoretically "neutral ground").

Any battle that involves someone named "Mrs." is lost before it starts...;)
