Goodell Being 'Pushed' By Influential Owners to Keep Brady's Suspension at Four Games

Ian Logue

It appears there are some other NFL Owners out there that want to keep Patriots quarterback Tom Brady off the field as long as possible in 2015.

I'm surprised this is one of the few leaks to come out. Before the SB there were leaks everyday. There were 40 people at Brady's appeal. Why haven't there been leaks about what went on in there that day? All we've heard is brady did good and another leak saying he did bad. It makes me think Brady did good because otherwise the league would be leaking all kinds of info. Say what you want about the NFL but I feel like they have their leaks under control. It only happens when they want it to and it's always for a reason.

And to think Bob Kraft thought he was an influential owner, and sold his team down the river because of it. I am so tired of this disaster.
More like the Wizard of Oz and they pulled back the curtain to reveal his real self............

Those influential owners are probably the ones that own the Jets, Bills, Dolphins, Colts, Broncos and Ravens.

I'm not sure about the jets bills or Dolphins but I'm confident the Broncos are involved solely for seeding reasons. I'm confident the colts are involved because their owner is a loser and thinks a good punishment plus their stupid banner = something close to a championship. And i have no doubt the Ravens owner is involved because of the formations we used and brady laughing at harbough for not knowing the rules. At the time I laughed out loud when brady went after him because it really made the Ravens look stupid that they straight up outsmarted them. Now I'm pretty sure that somehow led to the colts setting this whole thing up

It serves no purpose to spend time guessing at names. Reports indicate the number being 4, but there probably are more who also want the suspension to stand. What did Al Davis say? "Just win Baby" Winning is THE BOTTOM LINE to owners in the NFL

There's no love lost between any owners in the NFL. And, when did Kraft use his "influence" in the past when other teams/owners were getting screwed by Goodell?

It wouldn't be a surprise to hear that they also want the lost draft picks sustained.

How else can they have a chance at beating the Pats?

Not sure about the Bills as Pegula is relatively new and Ross doesn't seem to have the clout but Woody Johnson absolutely had to be involved. Behind that goofy shoot from the hip facade, he probably has Goodell on speed dial from his Jet employee days....

Of course it wouldn't surprise me if the NFL is leaking this (and it's complete BS) to give them cover on any decision.

more proof that the league wants to bury brady
and kraft backs these guys makes it worse

Is Goodell even trying to look neutral anymore?

At some point is he even going to ask the question, "what actually happened?" Seems like the questions he's struggling with are "what do the other owners want" and "how am I going to look"?

Disciplinary proceedings by neutral decision makers really aren't supposed to work this way.

During the last collective bargaining negotiations, I'm curious as to what the players received in return in exchange for giving a vicious idiot this much latitude in handing out discipline . . . a green cookie on St. Patrick's day?

It's fun to view this issue with conspiracy glasses on ....but if you remove the Patriots from the equation and view this appeal from the league's perspective, of course owners don't want to weaken their control over player justice and succumb to the will of of the NFLPA. First and foremost this is just another labor related skirmish and any outcome just redraws where the next battlefield will be. I can see many of the long time owners and those who deal with unions in their other businesses refusing to budge on this one. They have been scarred and bloodied from arbitrators outside their control and now they want to reclaim "hand".
I guarantee NFL lawyers are myopic in their focus......the opposition is ALWAYS the union. Brady just happens to be the next name inserted into these many actions.
The emotional scars created from this episode will fade over time, but not the precedent. Once precedent is set.......

Can't the NFL PA walk into a courtroom silently, slap down the report saying that the alleged "neutral and independent" arbitrator is being influenced by other teams owners right on the judges desk, and then leave without saying a word?

Alas, a "report" is not proof
