PFT: Settlement Talks Have Taken Place

hahahahahaha hahahahhaahahah.....hahahahahaha..........................................hahahaha...still laughing.
You don't win in business by looking out for your competition. Do you think Jerry would be OK with a one game reduction ......allowing Dallas to face Brady in week 4?? Jones was one of the first owners praising Goodell's original decision. JJ is highly invested in this decision....no doubt in my mind. The Cowboys need to win, JJ needs to win. Maintaining a week 4 advantage is massive in his eyes. Don't kid yourself.

They meet in week 5, but I forgot that this would be the Pats' fourth game not fifth. I guess he would fight for it to stay 4 games in that scenario.

Jerrah will publicly support the commissioner on everything other than when he is on the wrong end of his decisions though. See how he never said a thing about Goodell coming down hard on Hardy?

Being reported now that the NFLPA made an offer to the NFL and they did not respond?

I REALLY hope that didn't happen. I don't like the visual that gives of Brady begging the NFL* to let him play.

While this is basically unsubstantiated right now, once it goes to court, I wonder if discovery could uncover any communications between the commissioner and other owners that would have tainted his objectivity as an arbitrator in the appeal, and whether or not that would help Brady's case.
Brady's team could apply the same "guilt by association" tool Wells used. Since Brady gets judged guilty for having conversations with NE ball boys, Rodger must also be guilty for conversing with owners during the appeals process. Seems fair :)
Footnote......I forget which recent appeals case it was (I'm thinking Ray Rice), Goodell and NFL employees were required to hand over their "NFL" phones....but not their personal phones. Think Rodger and his mafia henchman know how to cover electronic trails......The value of veteran experience.

$25K fine was probably offered by the NFLPA given the League rules.

"Per the source, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is being pushed by a small handful of influential owners to hold firm on the four-game suspension. Working against that pressure, however, is the fear that the four-game suspension would be wiped out by a federal court."

Thoughts on who those "owners" are?

My guesses:
Irsay
Biscotti
Jones
Allen

I doubt bery much that Irsay is an infuential owner at this point.

It's fine. Keep the suspension to 4 games. Just make the decision already so we can go to court. So glad Kraft acquiesced though. That really tamped down the rhetoric, and ill will. Totally worth it. <sarcasm>

Exactly.

Hey Bob Kraft, tamping down the rhetoric - - wasn't that supposed to be a TWO-way street?

Nice 180 Rob.......Are you now saying, despite being "tight" JJ will still stick it to Kaving Krafty? Why should a game 4 matchup alter your original ""JJ would not lobby against Bob Kraft's interests".....since they're so tight. LMFAO

I wish we had an influential owner with a nutsack.

"Brady would accept a fine? Admission of guilt!!!"

^ Newest talking points.

C'mon, link? Attribution?

Mike n Mike. They were attributing to someone but I didn't catch because I was heading out the door.

I would love to see Goodell deposed and hopefully it would be like this, complete with strawberries and metal balls......

Some of the references and similarities are pretty apt when it comes to corrupt organizations....

last movie reference, I promise....

So this Levy guy who PFT says is warning Goodell that he screwed up was Goodell's rival for the job, and is a law partner of Goodell's predecessor. Hmm ...

It was bad enough knowing that Goodell somehow got the job, but to think that he beat out someone who's actually competent and capable of thinking critically just makes it much worse.

Very true
Mike Golic said the fact that the NFLPA made a settlement offer infers guilt on Brady's part. These people are so simple minded. It could never occur to them that a fine for not turning over his phone records at this point is better for everyone concerned. A year long distraction would suck for Brady, the team and the NFL*....but since the NFL* met them with silence I hope he takes them to court more than ever now. F them.
