PFT: Settlement Talks Have Taken Place

So this Levy guy who PFT says is warning Goodell that he screwed up was Goodell's rival for the job, and is a law partner of Goodell's predecessor. Hmm ...

Yeah, it's not like Levy has a ulterior motives or a conflict of interest in "advising" Goodell or anything. /sarcasm

I'm sorry, but I don't get it.

We had a US Senator, up in arms, who brought out a giant investigation over a camera placed in the wrong direction, yet after all this nonsense: a clear sting operation, hypocrisy, slander and misinformation, no one has the balls to bring down or call out the corruptive NFL league office???

I mean seriously.... No one, who has the power, feels they need to do something about Goodell and his buddies? Hasn't this gone on long enough?

This is literally turing into the WWE. Goodell is playing the role of Vince McMahon and Vincent and Kensil as his stooges, Patterson and Brisco...

Players have millions to tens of millions of dollars, tend not to be super active in politics, and are well connected with other players who also have a few million dollars each. The owners? They have hundreds of millions to billions of dollars, tend to be very active in politics, and are connected to other politically active business owners and hedge fund managers who also have hundreds of millions to billions of dollars to fund the campaigns of members of Congress or their opponents. If you were a soulless member of Congress, who would you rather go after?

I can see it. You realize it's all a sham right? They are emboldened because there isn't a massive backlash. Local influential media save for a few are all still saying Brady did something. If the teams own backyard is on board they will do whatever they want.

I doubt PFT would put that out there without a credible source.

that's exactly what PFT does with regularity.......baseless stories you can't nail down

If true, interesting how these owners want the sanctions/suspensions to stay in place.

They clearly aren't concerned that this kind of witch hunt/"Framegate" won't happen to them.

They are more concerned with their team winning on an uneven playing field.

Bob is such a wuss.

It's fine. Keep the suspension to 4 games. Just make the decision already so we can go to court. So glad Kraft acquiesced though. That really tamped down the rhetoric, and ill will. Totally worth it. <sarcasm>

"Per the source, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is being pushed by a small handful of influential owners to hold firm on the four-game suspension. Working against that pressure, however, is the fear that the four-game suspension would be wiped out by a federal court."

Thoughts on who those "owners" are?

My guesses:
Irsay
Biscotti
Jones
Allen

Jerry Jones and Bob Kraft are tight. I doubt he would be lobbying against Kraft's interests.

My guesses are:

Woody Johnson
The Maras
The Rooneys
Biscotti
Irsay

Although I do not know how influential Irsay and Johnson really are. I guess Johnson is only because of the fact he owns a NY team.

One thing is for sure, no matter what Goodell decides to do, he is going to screw it up. That is what he does.

It's becoming pretty clear that Kraft's "influence" is another media creation used to create public sentiment against the Patriots.

Exactly, we now see what kind of influence he really has - none - with both the owners and the crooked league office. It appears the only influence he really has is flashing his cash at high priced escorts... er....um...no, I mean dancer.... no, make that actress... yeah that's the ticket - actress.

So sell out Brady, sell out Belichick, sell out the fan base. Capitulate to people who are abusing their power at your team's expense. Capitulate to the other 31 while the conspire against your team all because they let you in their little private club. But hey he's making gobs of money so it's all good, right? Well watch the value of the team start to plummet when Brady and BB leave and your left with a fan base that despises you. He should use some of those piles of money he sits on to purchase a spine and a set of testicles.

What a pathetic old fool.

This also adds more credence to the idea that this was all an attempted sting executed poorly by jealous competitors.

Well at least there will be plenty of Johnson&Johnson brand Tissues available to the front office when Brady decimates them in court.

I find it hilarious that people are misfiring so badly on the list of owners that are pushing for Goodell to maintain his wrong stance.

Woody Johnson, people!

The only owner that counts.

The man supplies the NFL front office with personnel. He publicly tampered with another team's under contract player in December (during the season) during a press conference and walked away with all of his draft picks intact (while the team he tampered with lost their 1st and 4th for being, according to the league, completely innocent in Deflategate).

That's Mussolini in Milan circa 1938 type of power.
Yeah, his team lost the best coach of all time to the NE Patriots. Another reason to add some muscle.

TheYou forgot:

9) Goodell must cross the field at Gillette Stadium, present himself before this fanbase, put his head between his legs, and kiss his own arse.

I knew there had to be a Braveheart reference here somewhere.
We need a William Wallace to go to those "talks"...
Kraft to Brady..."Where are you going?"
TFB: I'm going to pick a fight!

What a pathetic old fool.

Strong roast, my friend. Very strong roast.

The unsupported punishment already levied upon the Patriots should be enough of a price between something and nothing ... especially in lieu of the evidence showing nothing was proven. However it's not punishment these people desire ... they are seeking a competitive re-balance as a foil to the Patriots winning a 5th Lombardi this year.

Stephen would work too. "I never liked Goodell anyway. He wasn't right... in the head".

While this is basically unsubstantiated right now, once it goes to court, I wonder if discovery could uncover any communications between the commissioner and other owners that would have tainted his objectivity as an arbitrator in the appeal, and whether or not that would help Brady's case.

.
hahahahahaha hahahahhaahahah.....hahahahahaha..........................................hahahaha...still laughing.
You don't win in business by looking out for your competition. Do you think Jerry would be OK with a one game reduction ......allowing Dallas to face Brady in week 4?? Jones was one of the first owners praising Goodell's original decision. JJ is highly invested in this decision....no doubt in my mind. The Cowboys need to win, JJ needs to win. Maintaining a week 4 advantage is massive in his eyes. Don't kid yourself.

Being reported now that the NFLPA made an offer to the NFL and they did not respond?

Sad that the other owners would have any say in the appeal. I am seriously hoping that this report is as false as what we are used to nowadays.

To be honest this whole deal is just wearing thin on me. It's so stupid I almost just don't care anymore. It's like sitting there in bed reading a book while my wife watches one of her God awful reality shows. I just tune it out.

It's so clear as glass what's going on here and if I allow myself to dwell on it the anger and outrage builds.

There are supporters out there like Curran,Simmons and the lady from DC. I appreciate their support and enjoy the aei input. But the bottom line this is going to court and going to be drawn out even more over some pretty stupid ****.

Favre like fine should of been the punishment, yet here we are 7 or 8 months later like its the crime of the century. There have been trials with so much more significance settled in less time. It's almost hilarious how stupid this is.
