Attorney Gregg Levy, who was one of the finalists for the job Goodell received in 2006, participated in the Brady appeal hearing as a legal consultant to the Commissioner. It’s believed that Levy has been warning Goodell that it will be difficult to make a suspension stick in court, even under the heightened standard that applies to challenging the outcome of a private arbitration agreement.
So while there’s still no good way out of this mess for Goodell, the safest course for him personally would be to hold firm and to force a court to reduce the suspension — since Goodell suffers little or no P.R. consequence when one of his disciplinary decisions is reduced or wiped out by someone else
It started with lies fed to Mort from the league office.None of us can ever believe any stories about this stupid, ridiculous incident. It started with the lies from Mort and hasn't gotten any more reliable since.

Thoughts on who those "owners" are?
"Per the source, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is being pushed by a small handful of influential owners to hold firm on the four-game suspension. Working against that pressure, however, is the fear that the four-game suspension would be wiped out by a federal court."
Thoughts on who those "owners" are?
My guesses:
Irsay
Biscotti
Jones
Allen
I'm not sure "agenda" is the right word. What owners are pushing is an attempt to gain a competitive edge which if successful would mean added $$$ in endorsements, merchandise sales and publicity. The NFL is not sport. It's a structure in which 32 corporations compete daily for market share and product enhancement. Any opportunity to weaken an opponent has to be considered. This leak, if true, means some of the owners are pushing their own agenda and not in line with Goodell's decision. Then again, why would they be involved in Goodell's arbitration process?
Perhaps the NFL just blinked?

I find it hilarious that people are misfiring so badly on the list of owners that are pushing for Goodell to maintain his wrong stance.
Woody Johnson, people!
The only owner that counts.
The man supplies the NFL front office with personnel. He publicly tampered with another team's under contract player in December (during the season) during a press conference and walked away with all of his draft picks intact (while the team he tampered with lost their 1st and 4th for being, according to the league, completely innocent in Deflategate).
That's Mussolini in Milan circa 1938 type of power.

Is it important to know who the owners are? what purpose does it serve to know other than to rant on n on. What is important is that a number of owners have objected to any reduction and if this report is true, it makes Kraft come across very naive
Rooney
Mara
The owners of teams the Pats play:Thoughts on who those "owners" are?
This makes me despise Kraft even more.
That's just what I said in another thread. The best way out of this for Goodell personally is to bull ahead, take the loss in court, and then take the position that "I tried to uphold the shield but the court didn't see it my way". While this would have him catch flak as weak and stupid, anything else will make him look more weak an more stupid and ignorant. So while there’s still no good way out of this mess for Goodell, the safest course for him personally would be to hold firm and to force a court to reduce the suspension — since Goodell suffers little or no P.R. consequence when one of his disciplinary decisions is reduced or wiped out by someone else
It's insane that owners are allegedly trying to influence the punishment for a player from another team
From the ineffective bone-headed commissioner to the corrupt biased league officials to the entitled good-ol' boys group of owners, the NFL has got to be the most screwed up organization in the US
