What's your take on Jonathan Kraft?

I remember back during Spygate, towards the end of the year a poster on ESPN forums that had only 1 post prior wrote a long post explaining all the details of Spygate. It was widely believed at the time that the author was Jonathan Kraft. The post was subsequently removed/deleted and unfortunately neither I nor anyone else was smart enough to copy the contents.

The post went into great detail over everything that happened after spygate first broke. One of the things I remember clearly (from the post) was him saying that Goodell was meeting with BB, Kraft and others a few days after the spygate game and BB wanted to give a press conference explaining what exactly happened. Paraphrasing here, and Goodell responded something to the effect of "shut up and don't say a word otherwise it's going to be a lot harder on you". Basically saying that Goodell threatened them with much worse punishment if they spoke publicly about spygate. This was the posters (J. Kraft?) explanation for why no one from the Patriots said anything about spygate that year.

It was very long post and explained why the Pats were so silent during spygate. It seemed very plausible and believable and made a lot of sense. I wish to god I had saved it.
.

Was it the one by NEinsider? We were all trying to figure out if it was real or not....
Here's a link to that, if it is what you're referring to. If not, "never mind"

Anyways my point is that I think J. Kraft sees things more from a fan's point of view than a business man's point of view. I'm not sure which is better, but I know that for myself, I'd rather have someone that cares about the reputation of the team over what the other 31 owners might think of me.

I remember reading such. In retrospect it makes me even MORE furious at Bob Kraft who the 2nd time around should have learned that Goodell, the league office & the 31 are no friends. What a Stockholm Syndrome tool Bobby Kraft is.

I hope he's less obsessed with

Money
Power
Being liked by a few other rich people at the expense of multitudes of the non-rich

than his old man seems to be.

Don't count on it. He'll probably end up just like his father. Don't rock the boat! There's millions more to be made! The apple more than likely does not fall far from the tree.

I'm not give Bob a pass.

But, I've noticed when people hit their early 70's something starts to happen in their brain. I call it being crusty, but the effect is more pronounced and different for different people. They seem to have less ability to reason and think things through like they used to. Obviously, we all expect a certain dropoff as we age, but that early 70's seems like the first big drop.

It's hard to tell because they mostly seem sharp, but then there's those moments and the rational thought goes bye-bye

I am sorry but most of you guys are whiney morons. Yes I was upset that Kraft didn't fight this thing to the end, but you know what, he has been the owner of the best football team for the last decade. Other than fighting a losing battle against 30 other jealous owners, he stepped out of what was probably a lost cause for the good of the game. I am truly sorry your jet friends can call the Patriots cheaters because Kraft accepted the punishment, but grow up, it is the real world and these things happen in the real world every fcking day.

There is no question that he will someday be the owner of this team. The question is when. Bob is 70. My guess is that he has a few years left and doesn't want to give up the jock-sniffing and bennies from owning an NFL team provide him. But to your point, it makes sense for Bob to give complete control to JK while he is alive and have a seamless transition in place.
Bob is 74, "dating" a bimbo less than half his age, dances horribly in public wearing spangly sneakers, and has a compulsion for hugging men who are trying to ruin his football team. The man is losing his filter, to the detriment of all around him and the franchise he once held dear. Bob is befuddled.

He has had lots of time and experiences to learn the business, stand by your franchise qb, he is your meal ticket...recognize greatness. Admit where wrong but fight for what, and who, you believe in...

There's so much dumb in this post that I really don't know where to begin. Congrats on being a stickler for the product though. I'm sure Kraft could blow someone's brains out at the 50 yard line on game day with their arms behind their back and he would still get your money. Some of us still wish to hold his feet to the fire, though. And congrats on *****ing about the *****ing. Because that makes a ton of sense. There is an ignore option that you can exercise at your own free will.

Be careful what you wish for. I know someone who works for the team. The day Bob retires is the day Bill Belichick leaves! Bob is much more of a people person. Jonathan has a mean streak is more of a corporate lawyer. Bob builds bridges...Jonathan builds walls!!

And when you watch every game and go on the boards and post about the games and every thing else you do it becomes painfully clear you are being hypocritical and a whiney moron. Nothing wrong with that, the world needs people like that too. It makes the rest of us a little happier every day.

It's always hard to tell with the designated "first among equals" of the children of a wealthy individual, with whom one has had no personal experience or even contact. Sometimes they inherit the good qualities, sometimes, the bad. Sometimes the wealth-creator has a blind spot for one child and overlooks what are obvious weaknesses in the eyes of others. Sometimes they are as smart as their parent, sometimes they are not.

It's a good sign that Jonathan Kraft "got his hands dirty" when he was young; hopefully that was an experience from which he learned and not just something he did to embellish his applications to Williams and Harvard. His reported temper and vengeful nature could either be unimportant or signs of some basic flaws, but we can't take a view on that without knowing the man. We know that he was "smart enough" to get into two very good schools, but each of those schools have been known to overlook other deficits in an application when the child of an alumnus is involved and/or the family is wealthy.

We really won't know until he takes over the operation and has the opportunity to put his own stamp on it.

Like all people who have lived lives of significant accomplishment, Bob Kraft has strengths and weaknesses...has done some amazing things and made some bad mistakes. Most of us, myself included, have been focusing on the weaknesses and mistakes in recent months, but his overall track record is truly remarkable...hopefully that side has rubbed off on his son.

OH Boohoo, Mr. Kraft didn't decide to spend millions of dollars fighting a legal battle against a corporation, give or take, he owns 1/32 of. A fight he knows he can't win because of the way that entity is set up, and if he does go that route he will alienate his other 31+- partners in his business. A business that is one of the most profitable businesses in the world right now. He will have to continue working with those other 31 owners he has just alieneted on a daily basis, because he isn't planning on selling the Patriots. I am sure all of the good will he would gain by suing himself, along with his partners would go along way towards helping him with all of the other issues that come up on a regular basis.

Now we have a bunch of internet tough guys calling him names and whining and complaining because their panties are all in a bunch. Grow up, if you are that upset go route for the Jets, if you really care that is the only thing that has any shot at all of making a difference. Sitting around *****ing is for loosers.

Totally wrong.
First, all he needed to do was appeal the decision to the league. The $ bill would be way under $100K from his lawyers. Just appeal. Other owners did so. Why would his appeal hurt the league?
Secondly, he started out on the right path demanding an apology. Stick to it regardless of the 99% probability that the appeal would be rejected. Show some character under adversity vs folding at the 1st shot.
Thirdly, simply keep the website alive and updated with new info that he initiated attacking the Wells report.

If the other 31 can't handle an owner protecting his brand from unwarranted attack, Kraft should have had the character to stand his ground. They're all "stockholders" and Board members and stockholders and board members have disagreements in business that do not necessarily wreck the company.

Whoa!!!

I wonder if THAT anecdote from NEInsider is the reason why the NFL STILL penalized the Pats the 1st and 4th rounders even though the league stated that the organization was not at fault - - because BB and Kraft didn't keep their mouths shut this time during the early part of the controversy?

That's like forgiving a criminal because up 'til the time he committed the crime he was a charitable model citizen.

Other than fighting a losing battle against 30 other jealous owners, he stepped out of what was probably a lost cause for the good of the game.
Some lost causes are worth fighting for to the very end when truth, honor and dignity are being trampled on. I fail to see how "the good of the game" was served by the travesty of Framegate and PudgeBob's capitulation, but perhaps you can enlighten us so-called "whiney morons." By the way, you mentioned 30 other jealous owners who you claim were justly served by Bob bending over. Who is the one who isn't jealous?

I am truly sorry your jet friends can call the Patriots cheaters because Kraft accepted the punishment, but grow up, it is the real world and these things happen in the real world every fcking day.
So, we all should "grow up" and learn to accept injustice because it happens in the real world every day? Man, I'm so glad I don't live in your "real world."

You are making this up and have no idea.

Going the butthurt ad hominem route, I see?

And when you watch every game and go on the boards and post about the games and every thing else you do it becomes painfully clear you are being hypocritical and a whiney moron.

Can anybody translate this into English? And it's funny that you call me a moron when you can't even be bothered with proper grammar.

Nothing wrong with that, the world needs people like that too. It makes the rest of us a little happier every day.

Does it make your co-workers at McDonald's happy too?

Yes you should, if you are really upset go root for another team. I for one am sick of listening to a bunch of grown ups acting like 4 year olds, calling Kraft names, grow the fck up.

Always great when you have to resort to complaining about grammar, then mention I work at McDonalds. Nice arguing there, I know now tell us about how you went to college in Florida. I haven't heard about that in a few days.

So ignore the thread and keep giving a guy that would sell you down a river for a few bucks your hard earned money. I'm sure you have better things to do than to argue with a bunch of whiney morons amirite?
