Latest Reiss thoughts on the league

Drop it to two and let's move on. It will not be wiped out completely, nor will it stand at four. Like Patfanken said, the damage is done and everyone believes NE cheats all the time. So be it. Let's just keep winning and let the haters believe what they want. It sucks, but whatever.

I disagree. If Tom Brady doesn't want to be known as "cheater", he has to fight this all the way -- the suspension, defamation suit, media blitz and not stop EVER. I don't care if the game he ends up missing are playoff games. If Tom is innocent, he can NEVER let this go and move on.

I obviously wasn't talking about what Tom should do. He's not the one ultimately deciding his own punishment.

Reiss must have read everyone *****ing about him in a thread on this forum and stepped up to the plate. And yes, I do think Reiss reads this forum.

I think Reiss cares about and respects his readers, those in this forum and elsewhere.

In saying that I'm projecting in two ways -- I'm a blogger myself, and I've interacted multiple times w/ Reiss. But I do think I'm correct. :)

I don't see the article as being strong in language ...

I see it as a matter of fact piece on the options the league has and possible perceptions that may result.

Reiss wrote the piece IMO to let readers know he's 100% up to date ... it is what it is - nothing new.

The article gives the perception IMO that Reiss remains an independent journalist for this story and that's fine.

Manish Mehta could only hope he was man enough to write such a piece ...

When one doesn't have anything new to say, one can summarize and clarify what one's said before.

Some of my best and most popular posts are of that kind. This may be a similar case for Reiss.

Nothing strong on the article, classic Reiss, a nerd post. Calling the report shaky means nothing, as of now is a common point in both sides that the report is pure garbage. By the way to consider strong language I would expect at least the word garbage on the article.

That article from that woman from Washington Post is strong language. Reiss won't go much further than this.

Reiss said that if there's any suspension, the league is being unfair. I'm OK with not calling that "strong" language, especially given how he couched it.

But it's even further from being weak than it is from being strong.

I agree almost entirely.

There's an extreme scenario, however, in which -- for example -- his penalty is reduced to a Favrian $50K, and it's good business to just pay it and move on.

Note that as long as the Patriots' TEAM penalties stay in place, an elimination of Brady's penalties can't entirely equate to "The NFL ruled that there was no proven cheating after all."

With you..........Mike Reiss is a class act! Given age, accomplishments, personal disposition and support Brady has to see this all the way through...........He really has no choice.

Goofy & the Gloms are walking down a deadly path. Whether the 32 NFL owners like it or not; Goofy and the Gloms are their representatives. The public doesn't like the Gloms front office and they have managed to alienate themselves and who they represent. The public opinion will continue to turn against them. This court case will cost Goofy and the Gloms their esteemed jobs. New Orleans, Dallas and Minneapolis hate them... Boston is about to join their ranks!

I agree with this. I just wish the industry within which he works rewarded that behavior more and rewarded the angry-contrarian less.

Are you saying he "nutted up"? :D

Me too. I may be biased, but this site really is top-notch compared to any other messageboard. NFL or any other sport.

That's how I feel posted the same in a other thread.

Absolutely. Someone here recently posted a link to a jest board, my IQ dropped 20 points after reading some of the messages posted there.

They had a "Would you want Belichick or Brady on the jests?". Over 80% of jest fans said 'no'

That's like when the biggest nerd in school asks the prom queen for a date (or can't even work up the courage to do so) and she says no, then he tells his friends "she's a *****, I wouldn't go out with her anyway".

Uh, not, um, that I, uh, have any, um, experience with the above. :D

Well there is truth in that, DI. It would go a long way to mend some fences for him with just a simple, "sorry I F'd up"

Unfortunately, that feels more like something he'd throw out casually in an interview years from now after he's sold the team (not that I think he will, just that that's the only time I can see him doing it). I can't see him making a statement like that while he's still part of The Club.

I see Kraft trying to give another drunken " TONIGHT WE ARE ALL PATRIOTS " at the banner raising and getting booed out of the stadium.

Sad but likely true.

I actually felt that line was overplayed, even when I was a 100% fan of Kraft and on an immediate Super Bowl high. Now I hear that and think, "No, WE aren't, Bob. Just sign the checks and shut up."

Because she said yes, right? Of course?

I don't know about Kraft being drunk but I do expect him to say something like that and get booed. Even if he said he screwed up it's too late because it has happened to many times before.

As disappointed as I was in Kraft for rolling over on this and the lack of respect I have for him compared to before, I really hope and do believe that the Foxboro Faithful won't stoop to this level on such a great moment. I hope he gets no reaction from the crowd at all and they set car alarms off 30 miles away when they introduce the team and the banner though.

I agree. My hope has been that he won't put himself in that position but unfortunately I don't think he understands the level of anger that the most hard core gamma have towards him for the capitulation. I won't be there but if I were I would simply stay silent, unfortunately I don't think that's what the majority of fans will do and I do believe he will be booed heartily of her decides to be the one to go out and raise the banner.

Like Menino it's hard to tell of Kraft is actually drunk because he sounds like he is even when he isn't. And I agree that forgiveness will be in short supply.

What do you mean "about to join their ranks?" Any semi informed fan has been on the hate wagon since cameraplacementgate.

Yes like the old saying "if you have nothing good to say: say nothing at all". I hope the silence is Deafening! when and after he speaks.
