Edit: Does Cameron Heyward's deal mean Kiss Chandler Jones Goodbye

Yeah, that wasn't bad. Back to burning players at the stake for legitimate injuries that require off season surgery, I see.

My earlier post that got disliked was referring to Heyward... Guess it could've been inferred either way. I like Chandler Jones but I think he needs to be more consistent.

Echoing the thread title complaints. Ridiculous.

Kiss Tom Brady goodbye....because someday he won't be playing for the Patriots either (same as everyone else). Bad title thread.

That's good. Was it the only one?
OT: please replace your sig gif with something less bizarrely distracting, will ya? o_O

Think about this. Our 3 best defensive players coming off their rookie contracts are Hightower, Collins, and Chandler Jones. History tells us that we are going to be able to resign just 2 of them. Those are the facts of life when you live in the salary cap era.

But on the plus side in 2 years we will likely have a lot of salary more cap room as its likely big contracts like Brady, Mayo, and Volmer, will likely be gone or significantly reduced.

What is the point of this thread? Are we arguing whether Jones will be playing the 2017 season for the patriots?

no :(

Revis and Hernandez will be off the books next year to get some serious extensions done.

Hernandez is off the books this year, for what it's worth. The Pats swallowed their pill in 2013 and 2014 without him, now they are done.

As you mention, Revis will come off next year.

Cam Heyward of the Steelers, who is not quite as good as Jones in my opinion, just signed a deal that guarantees him $21M in the first year of the deal. I don't see any chance of Chandler getting a deal like that from the Pats at the end of this season. My guess is he'll play for his $8M in 2016 or be traded, can't imagine he'd be cut. No wonder BB drafted so many 'edge' dudes this year. If he hits on one of them then the clock starts on Jones' time in NE.
Im just disagreeing with your idea that he will get traded. Players hardly ever get traded in the NFL and I dont see a big market for somone like Jones. That being said i could absolutely see them letting Jones walk and resigning Hightower instead; it be hard to keep both

Yes, no doubt. As others have mentioned, the decision will be made in the next 2 seasons. It's hardly worthy of much of a discussion now, although I think if we were forced to make a decision right at this current moment, we'd all be leaning towards one way.

Luckily, that choice doesn't need to be made for quite some time, and as usual, will be dependent on other players and variables such as market value/production, etc. No use trying to use 2015 situations to try and predict 2017 decisions.

You don't know how great of a play this was live at the stadium. It gave the Patriots full momentum of the game right before half time. It was like the life was sucked out of every Viking fan in the stadium.

Oh man it was a great thing to watch :D

It was pretty cool to see on TV, as well ;)

Thanks for the reminders. I don't know what his exact role is for sure. I'm not a hater but I feel as though he hasn't really lived up to the hype.

He's like mayo in that I suppose he's reliable but they're both supposed to be playmakers in the mould of Collins. I haven't felt like he's been able to dominate his opponent.

I'd forgotten the game situation.

So that play was the difference between the Vikes going into the locker room at halftime as the home team with momentum in a 17-10 game, and going in down 24-7 with the Pats having momentum.

That fits the definition of a big play, a real back breaker.
