Is there any doubt that this whole thing is just a media creation by the NFL? This is the new meme being touted by Peter King and seen tonight on CSNNE. I believe Mike Reiss thought of it a few months ago, but now King thinks hes reinvented the wheel with this idea.

Any doubt how this would go down? They'd get Brady to agree to not going to court if the results of the coming season's study on air pressure showed that the deflation was artificial. They'd fudge the numbers and send it out in a complicated report (complicated for a 4th grader) and we get a repeat of THEY DID IT MIKE!!! The science is too complicated!! THEY STUDIED IT FOR A YEAR, patriots honks don't wanna believe they did anything wrong!! And we get this same drama again all next off-season.

Eff this.

They aren't interested in the science. Noway that happens.

F.uck relying on the NFL to do it, the team or Brady himself should have a dedicated guy on the sideline recording the measurements of an otherwise regulation non-game ball during every single game.

Damn it. You might be right.

The only way that happens is if Brady (and by extension the NFLPA) had a hand in selecting the firm in charge of the analysis. There's no way, at this point, that they'd let the NFL have sole control over this.

I heard someone telling Mazz about this the other day and Mazz says so what if measuring the balls show deflation, how do you explain the texts! Then he says if you believe it means lose weight you're a moron! Mazz always says that, if you don't believe what he (a moron says) you're a moron, and he says it in that high shrill voice. Makes you want to put a shotgun to your radio.

Must be nice living in a world where everyone else is the moron :D

a third grader could do it

but not the NFL

I can't stand Mazz, and not just because of his shrill voice altho that does have a lot to do with it. Reminds me a lot of that Tony Cornholio guy on PTI or something.

I didn't used to mind Felger, actually kind of liked him... before deflate gate happened. Since then he seems to have become so anti-patriots that I've lost all respect for him. Though he did call it correctly saying that pats were going to be punished while the local reporters (curran, reiss, etc) were saying pats were going to be exonerated.

I liked Felger before deflate gate because he actually did like the Patriots. Sorry but I listened almost every day and he was very reasonable no matter what some people here think. But when deflategate broke he sensed blood in the water and decided to go with it. Now there is no going back.

Yeah, he found out trolling Pats fans is good for ratings, he says things to get people riled up to call in, he banters with them a little then says thanks for listening and calling.

Well he would always needle at Patriots fans, that was just his thing. It was annoying but sometimes kind of funny. But he really did pull for the Pats and picked them to win nearly every week. And always over Manning. Maybe not because he was a fan of the team itself but because he legitimately enjoyed covering and watching quality football. Nothing wrong with that considering he's from Wisconsin.

Deflategate changed everything everywhere.

And if both sides could agree to put this analysis in the hands of a truly objective third party, I would be fine with it. With the one very important caveat that the confusion re: which gauge Anderson used in the AFCCG has to be taken into account. Provided that the expected findings based on a year of study falls within the margin dictated by that uncertainty, the Patriots are presumed to be innocent? Sounds good to me.

I would not agree to a single company measuring the PSI. I would want a company for the NFL standing beside a company for the NFLPA both using the same gauge.

I would literally enlist teams from the engineering departments of half a dozen Ivy league schools along with MIT and Cal Tech to all test and record balls on the sidelines during every game. It'd only be a matter of cost so why the hell not?

I find myself listening less and less to sportstalk radio, at one time I was a rabid listener..

I believe the texts took place in October, and some even occurred during an away game and not during the games in question... there were subsequent texts between Brady/Jeremski, but that was after the fact.

One of the texts referring to "the deflator" took place in May of 2014...

We need to understand that while a lot of the sports media while trolls are also not very bright, last week when the Hardy suspension was reduced from 10 games to 4 games Felger and the co hosts spent a couple of minutes trying to figure the % reduction of Hardy's suspension to apply that reduction to Brady's case.

Now. 4th graders should know the answer of 60% in a couple of seconds, these guys spent over a minute babbling without coming up with the answer, think about that, then understand why the science causes their heads to explode. People like Felger, Mazz, Mad Dog, Francessa are not the sharpest tools in the shed, they are just dull tools.

This sounds like one of those rumors during the pre-Wells report months: Wells is looking into a sting by the league, They are investigating the Colts, etc. This "test for a year" isn't going to happen either.

I don't read/listen to a media person just because they "like the Patriots".

I can read this forum for that viewpoint.

I'd rather read media that is unbiased and informative.

People who listen only to the choir live in the dark.

Too bad it won't happen but every intercepted ball by the Patriots should be tested and if found under 12.5 a complaint should be filed. For every ball.
