"ON THE BRADY BAN.
As a longtime reader of The MMQB, I have noticed that you rarely pass judgment on an issue unless the facts are clear (i.e. you didn’t hammer Kromer too hard for his alleged actions). I am curious, however, if you were in Goodell’s shoes would you reduce Brady’s suspension to one or two games, get rid of it altogether, or leave it as is? The facts are unclear and if the suspension stood Brady would be handed the same punishment as Greg Hardy. (I am a Jets fan and I still don’t think that’s right.) What would you do given the lack of evidence?

—Chris, Stamford, Conn.

What I would have done is I would never have banned Brady in the first place. I don’t think the Wells Report proved that Brady ordered the balls to be deflated. What would I do now? Certainly reduce the sanction to either one or two games, but I’d never be in this position, because I would come up with a different penalty in the first place."

One or two games? Penalty for what? There's never been any evidence or indication that Brady did anything wrong. Even the whole alleged non-cooperation thing is nonsense. He was within his rights to hang onto his personal phone. Sorry PK that's not good enough.

I think King has been pretty consistent with his opinion since the Wells Report came out. He got in an argument with a radio personality (forget who) about it actually, where the other guy basically kept yelling, "Cheater! Won't turn over his phone! I know he did it!" and King ripped him a new one because the guy hadn't actually even read the Wells Report. Not sure this is a sign the tune is changing, just that King hasn't flip flopped on it, to his credit.

King is trying to walk a narrow line between saying what he knows is the truth and saying things that will get him on the "Do Not Return His Calls" list at 345 Park Avenue. If you're looking for integrity, look elsewhere.

King ain't going out on a limb so to speak...Mr in the middle King is the perfect hyprocrite.

I think you're right, thank you. That would have given me an aneurysm later.

Peter has been fully consistent on thinking the Wells report is a bundle of bad science and slanted arguments. His twitter feed has been pretty clear on that. The MMQB column has been far less direct on that point, though? Why? I'm just guessing that the powers that be at CNN-SI are not fully behind that position.

It would be a little better if instead of just saying "I don’t think the Wells Report proved that Brady ordered the balls to be deflated" that he also said "I don’t think the Wells Report proved that the balls even WERE deflated" but it's a start.

I'd say instead that Peter King's bottom line for integrity is lower than we'd like it to be. But it's also higher than many other media figures'.

Found a chart referencing where certain individuals stood relative to the "bottom line" .

Tedy Bruschi --------------------> -----------------------------------------

Michael Holley/ Jerry Thornton/ Curran ----> ---------------------------------

Peter King is here ------------------>----------------------------

Kraft -----------------------> -----------------------------

Dog Crap -------------------> ---------------------------

Diarrhea --------------------> --------------------------

Vomit -----------------------> ------------------------

Bottom Line ---------------------------------------------------------

Felger and Mazz

More from king on Dan Patrick interview......why now, why not before.

I remain beyond passed off over this entire ridiculous facade. I can only imagine how Brady feels.

Oh and while pissed off..........if I hear that ahole mazz spouts off one more time that brady should take his medicine if penalty reduced to a game or two and just end it, I think I am going to request that Caitlyn Jenner pay him a visit and force him to have steamy sex with him.

Your education of King on the IGL, helped him understand that Well's/Exponent's science deeply flawed.

Gave you a winner, but just the same you were WAY too generous to Kraft

Just WHY was this way too generous to Kraft?

Because Bob was in a position of trust. Trust by his HOF GOAT player who made his franchise worth billions and trust by the fans which for decades he claimed to be one of. (yeah there's a preposition at the end)

I know but I haven't been able to bring myself to throw the guy in the garbage. But yeah, I know.

It's not just Mazz saying that. It's the new mantra.

Take the deal. Avoid the distractions. It's for the good of the team.

If Brady does that, his wife will probably (and rightfully) kick his ass.

Still struggling with the, "It can't be proven that Tb12 did anything but Goodell should knock the suspension down to 2 games and Brady should accept it.".

How about, "Goodell should vacate the whole thing because his organization was flat-out wrong and doesn't have the stones to admit a mistake and Brady should stand up for himself if he didn't do anything wrong.".

The wussification of America is in full swing.

"We suspended him for four games despite lacking any actual evidence that he did something. We've now seen the error of our ways and understand that there's no credible reason to believe he did anything wrong. We're therefore reducing his suspension to 2 games, because a two game suspension for literally no reason makes sense and reasonable people should totally be on board with that".
