beating up a woman

equals

being generally aware that someone (maybe) wanted to take an immeasurably small amount of air out of some footballs, but apparently didn’t.

You forgot not turning over his cellphone, so the NFL could then sell it to TMZ... then deny that they did it and launch a bogus internal investigation, which will turn up nothing except "Mort".....

Goodell is looking more and more like the idiot he really is..

So how about "warning letter" to Minn/Car and largest penalty in league history for Patriots (allegations)?

Translated: Goodell just kind of made this one up on his own.

Good point, but FWIW it ended up costing him quite a bit in FA; basically killed his ability to get a big multi-year deal. If he gets injured during his prove-it deal with Dallas, it could easily cost him tens of millions.
You don't think beating that woman kind of already did that?

Goodell, NFL* is a JOKE! Jets bias. No matter how much they try to prevent us from succeeding, it makes it even sweeter when we do.

Kept him from getting a big, multi-year deal with a lot of guaranteed money? Honestly, no. Really good, young edge rushers hit UFA maybe once or twice a decade. The only reason Hardy stood to was because Hurney ****ed up Carolina's cap in historically notable fashion. So if Hardy hit UFA and his availability wasn't in limbo, I have no doubt at all that someone would've paid him.

I disagree. Not with the new punishment guidelines in place. The reason Hardy was able to get off this time is because they hadn't modified the policy yet and then thought they could retroactively punish him under the new guidelines. That's not true going forward, and on top of, he'd now be a repeat offender. A repeat offense would (arguably) make him liable for banishment from the league. At the /very/ least, it's a six game suspension and that's only if they pretend this first incident never happened.

I'd be surprised if a team was willing to risk a long term high dollar contract based on that possibility.

And right there is what really matters - try as they do, Patriots winning ways have not been stopped since Brady first took over and I'd say won't be until he leaves, at the earliest.

I though Devin Mccourtey said best yesterday on an ESPN first take interview with his brother:

"I don't hear anyone talking about us winning the Super Bowl. It was all about footballs. We'll be ready to go."

This team will be pissed off and highly motivated, similar to 2007.

This is the winning point.

The "increase over prior cases without notice" bar is now the precedent by the league arbitrater (the one not named Goodell).

Let's see what the "prior case" punishments were in similar instances of not handing over a cellphone?????

Jeffrey Kessler just orgasmed.

Precedent (cited in Hardy reduction) is why Brady penalty is toast in real court. Dumbest thing NFL did [long list] was ignore MIN hot balls

Yup.

It's only a matter of time and dance steps now.

Brady will get it down to ZERO games.

And THEN he can go after the NFL in a federal court for propogating falsified PSi measurements to the press and to the Patriots in the Gardi letter without correction for 4 months.

With what Brady wins in court, he'll be able to BUY that entire f###ing Country Club in Brookline.

Words cannot express how much I'm hoping for a GFY reunion tour in 2015.

He should have thought of that before he beat the crap out of that woman.

So Hardy comes back just in time to play the Patriots...
And Brady comes back just in time to play the Colts...

Yeah, welcome to the WWE.

AARR....All About Ratings & Revenue.

solomon wilcox saying the original punishment was too harsh? how so?
hardy should be in jail for what he did...

He was only saying it was overly harsh in view of what policy (such as it was) was at the time.
