I don't know why it will take this long. Goodell already made his decision long before he met with Brady.
Because he has to make it look like he has considered it nice and long. He and Kraft are probably having a couple of laughs amidst several ****tails at a mansion somewhere.

But as I said in the other thread...better next week than a month from now.

waste of time. brady'd going to have to go to federal court for air pressure in a ball. lmao
10 mil going down the toilet. they should donate the money to something important

"We'll be upholding the suspension next week but needed to let enough time pass to give the illusion we looked at all the pertinent data and didn't go with a predetermined outcome."

As I said in another thread, I'm not expecting Christmas in July and I look for a hard line from Goodell. No exoneration on the underlying charge. Maybe a token reduction of the suspension to two games. I think he's probably assessed Brady's likelihood of success in Court as low enough to make it worth any risk.

The more I think about it, the clearer it becomes to me that, for Goodell to exonerate Brady, he'd have to throw Kensil, Vincent and Wells--and himself!--under the bus. Not gonna happen in the Space-Time continuum that we inhabit. I'm amazed that I was naive enough ever to have thought that there was any chance of that occurring.

He's probably doing it sooner rather than later next week so as not to step on the story-lines coming out of the Training Camps a couple of weeks later.

For the NFL, it's all about media cycles. Let this story dominate the news next week and die out the week after and then it's on to Peter King's Training Camp tour, the various QB-battles around the league, the ongoing saga of Johnny Football, the sideshow of Tebow in Philly and, of course, JPP's missing finger.

The longer it takes I like Brady's chances... I think He will be cleared of all charges. How does something so stupid got this far is beyond me.
If something so stupid came so far, you have to wonder how long the front office has been trying to directly influence the outcome of games. Someday, I hope that Goodell is outed and imprisoned for his crimes, followed by "Integrity of the game*" carved into his headstone by a "vandal".

It's annoying that goodell is going to take another week just for optic purposes. But at least It is coming soon, so their will be more time to get this case to the courts.

Glad they're not going to drag this out like the Hardy appeal.

there is very little chance it will be overturned. goodell will look like a fool for spending 5 million on wells if he did.
Wouldn't he look like the bigger fool if the courts send it to a neutral arbiter and it's overturned? If he's really that calculating, his estimate of the possibility of that outcome would factor into his decision, wouldn't it?

Very surprised it is coming this early. I thought they will drag it out to corner brady late into the off season. Wonder why and if kraft has pushed for this?

I'd like to think that Goodell will come to his senses and vacate the suspension. Perhaps his logic to save face will be "something happened to the footballs so the team penalties stay but Brady was not involved"

Of course that would leave them open to a defamation suit by McNally so maybe not...

It takes a while to go over the written language to make sure it won't give Brady any advantages in court. The lawyers will parse every single clause and then send the NFL another hefty bill.

Quietest sports week all year (All Star game) next week which means he'll have the stage to himself. Perfect time to show the rest of the country and world how courageous he is by keeping Brady's suspension at 4 games. Book it.
