I could do all time Patriots but I think this will be fun too and with the "top players under BB with the Patriots list" I think this be a good thread to support some and counter other players that names.

Here is my rule (you can have your own if you don't like them) I don't want to include 1 year rentals. 2 years or more with the Pats & BB. Also this is not 100% based on ability as character matters for some players.

Here is what I have so far

Offense

QB - 2 - Brady Bledsoe
TE - 3 - Gronk Watson Graham
RB - 4 - Dillon Faulk Vereen Smith
WR - 5 - Moss Branch Welker Edelman Brown
OT - 3 - Light Vollmer Solder
OG - 3 - Mankins Neal Andruzzi
OC - 2 - Woody Koppen

Defense (I will set up as a 3-4 to make it easier)

DT - 3 - Wilfork Seymour Warren
DE - 3 - McGinest Nink Jones
LB - 4 - Mayo Hightower Bruschi Johnson Collins Vrabel
CB - 4 - Law Samuel Talib Smith
S - 4 - Harrison McCourty Milloy Jones

ST - 4

K - Adam V.
P - Mesko?
LS - IDK... you tell me lol
STs - Slater

So about 10 or so spots open (you can not count Talib if you want and open another).

I'd dump Jones (S), Vereen (RB). Maybe even Mesko.

I'm looking at each position and finding it hard to replace any of those guys. Nice job BD.

P - if not Mesko...then maybe Walter
LS - Lonie Paxton
K - their is an argument there between Vinatieri and Gostkowski. Adam has made more clutch kicks (he's had more opportunities in bigger games) and Stephen has more points (all-time Patriots leader) and better percentages.
ST - Larry Izzo

Miller or Allen over Mesko. Possibly Eugene over Tebucky. I thought very highly of Sammy Morris and would keep him over Antowain, but thats an outside-the-box move. Otherwise I think you did a great job here.

Would drop Watson and put in Ben Coates.

Joe Cardona would be the obvious choice for long snapper. o_O

Coates last year with NE was 99

Coates never played for Belichick.

Cassell should be #2 QB. He was better in 2008 than Bledsoe was in 2000.

I think you meant 4-3 based on where you put the players. At LB Vrabel should be higher, Ted Johnson isn't close to belonging on the list and Roman Phifer was left off and shouldn't have been.
Wilson, Sanders and even Meriwhether and Gregory were better than Tebucky.

Ted Johnson was a BEAST...I think he belongs....as does Roman Phifer...good point Andy. IMO it could be a toss-up between Bledsoe and Cassell...they both have roughly the same number of passing yards, TD's, INT's.

I would put Welker ahead of Branch. I would remove Vereen from the list and insert Woodhead, if it needs to be a receiving back as I thought Woodhead was a much better runner, and much better at getting the difficult yards.

Even though he was here for one Superbowl winning year.. Darrelle Revis??

QB - 2 - Brady Bledsoe

Smith and Bledsoe are the only ones there could be much discussion about. Also, that's 22 guys, so there might be room for a couple more. But they'd be chosen from the likes of Mike Compton, Christian Fauria or Danny Woodhead.

(Since you mentioned character, I presume you're ruling out AHern.)

DT - 3 - Wilfork Seymour Warren
DE - 3 - McGinest Nink Jones
LB - 6 - Mayo Hightower Bruschi Johnson Collins Vrabel
CB - 4 - Law Samuel Talib Smith
S - 4 - Harrison McCourty Milloy Jones

Obviously, there's a great logjam at LB. But Roman Phifer has to make it -- and by the way, he played a lot on STs. And that was Izzo's nominal position as well -- more than nominal, actually, as he played in the goal-line package.

I'm happy with Tebucky there. Class act, and strong STer.

Ty Poole is a good candidate at CB. I'd also be happy with Arrington -- successful slot corner, league leader in INTs one year (bogus though a couple of those INTs were), and good STer.

K - Adam V.
P - Mesko?
LS - IDK... you tell me lol
STs - Slater

I'll just note that we have returns covered -- Faulk for kicks and tremendous depth at punt return.

I was going to point out that Vereen shines from a character standpoint -- but actually, Woodhead seems to match him or exceed him. (I'd put Vereen ahead on brains, however, just as a guess based on how articulate he is.)

Ted Johnson was a beast early in his career but at best an average LB in the BB years. He was a backup for almost all of that time.
Cassell was 10-5 as a starter, Bledsoe was 5-13.
QB stats are often vaguely similar among many players, but there is no question Cassell from 2008 played better than Bledsoe from 2000-2001

I'd switch out Woodhead for Vereen; Green-Ellis for Smith; Connolly for Woody; Revis for Talib; Wilson for Tebucky. Punter is probably Allen.

Green-Ellis for Smith? No way. Smith has 2 rings and was a MAJOR part of the first. 2001 was the best season a BB RB has ever had here. And I was a huge Smith critic, but he did what he did. In th eyears BJGE played for the Pats they were 2-4 in the postseason.
Vereen is in in my book because of his play in the SB.
Revis was out of the argument in the OP because he excluded 1 year players.

Well someone else makes your own list and some changes/additions : P

I am not sold on my list 100% either. Also I am trying to get 53 players so plenty of room for more particularly on D.

Edit: Also to make a point to AndyJohnson. Just cause I personally exclude 1 year players doesn't mean anyone else has to. That is just a personel preferences cause I like players that where a bit more solidly ingrain in the Pats culture.

Updated list... Thanks for more insight (also order does not automatically mean anything)

Offense

QB - 2 - Brady Bledsoe
TE - 3 - Gronk Watson Graham
RB - 5 - Dillon Faulk Vereen Smith Woodhead
WR - 5 - Moss Welker Branch Edelman Brown
OT - 3 - Light Vollmer Solder
OG - 4 - Mankins Neal Andruzzi Compton

LB - 7 - Mayo Hightower Bruschi Johnson Collins Vrabel Phifer
CB - 5 - Law Samuel Talib Poole Smith
S - 5 - Harrison McCourty Milloy Wilson Jones

ST - 4

K - Adam V.
P - Allen
LS - Paxton
STs - Slater

Okay offense seems set but I am looking to add 1-2 DL and maybe 1 LB.
