I hate this type of stuff.

Russel Wilson is a very likeable guy at first, but once you start hearing the excessive references to religion/God and his overly philosophical quotes, it comes off as trying way too hard. What's worse is that most people eat it up.

I guess he's still likeable, but that **** gets annoying after a while.

I agree 100%. (SEE: Warner, Kurt)

Don't want to offend, but wouldn't God say "you should give your millions to the poor" or something like that? Perhaps I've misunderstood the messages that are in the bible as I wasn't raised Christian but...

No, God is very busy giving Global Warming messages to the Pope

I think what actually happened was that God spoke to Wilson coming out of the huddle and said "Lockette will be open. Throw the ball to him."

I'm ok with Wilson's comments.....really. And I'm not super religious either.

I find it strange thinking had Wilson said his deceased father spoke to him, everyone would be ok with that....but since he said "God", everyone gets uncomfortable and mocks him.

I am more spiritual than religious but give Wilson credit where it is due.

Wonder how this Thread would have gone had Tebow not signed with the Eagles :)

Looking at the state of the world, if whatever reigning deity in charge is concerned about the outcome of a football game, s/he or it has some seriously misplaced priorities.

True. But in the midst of the deflate gate crap, it felt as much about justice as it was winning a football game. :)

If God is a Pats fan, then where the feck was he for the previous decade?

I don't believe in god, but this strikes me as less egocentric than most proclamations of athletic faith. Rather than thinking his deity picks sides, Russell is viewing this as a test and an opportunity to be a good role model. Football is little more than an avenue for a larger message.
While I agree the thing is he claims he heard voices.
It is lik Joan of Arc. You either believe God really did talk to her and hates the British * or she is psychotic but better tactically than the usual French nobles.
Either Russell Wilson is a prophet we should all follow and God is a Patriots fan *, or he is psychotic who happens to be a pretty good QB.

(*I'm an Irish American - God should hate the fricken' limeys. I'm also OK with God as a Patriots fan.:) )
