Anyone who thought the Japanese team laid down or choked wasn't watching that game, the US team simply played a great game and put away their scoring chances and then some. That 54 yard goal was a thing of beauty. Great performance by the US team they are the best team in the world and it's going to take going to the next level for anyone to beat them.

.........or, just maybe, the US Women's Soccer team (which delivered a complete and dominant beat down of a favored German team last week) is really just that good?

It doesn't always have to be a negative.
But then I wouldn't have an excuse to post that gif now would I? :p

You NEVER need an excuse to post that gif!
Speaking of which, why hasn't somebody photoshopped the Lombardi being thrown into "the interception?"

I watched the last two games and thought they were very entertaining. The competitiveness and national pride of the players makes the World Cup a special event. Truth be told, this was the first sporting event in which I had a rooting interest since February 1st that raised my heart rate at all.

I do think it's disrespectful to the Japanese women to compare them to the Broncos who absolutely turtled and quit at the first sign of adversity against the Seahawks.

You're exactly right about the Japanese women's team being way more courageous than the Broncos. They got blasted by tremendous pressure by the US right off the bat and got clobbered in the first 16 minutes. Then they actually hung tough for the remaining 78 minutes or so (with stoppage time) and outscored the US the rest of the way 2-1.

Peyton Manning and his frontrunners melted in a puddle in SB 48.

The Japanese women's team was far more resilient than the Broncos. It's not even close.

Fair enough point good sir, they did nearly get back in it. Starting make this thread at 4-0 and kinda just went with it anyways. Always a good time to bring up that SB.

There's only two sports where I find the womens teams more entertaining to watch than the mens - Soccer and Boxing.

In Soccer it seems the men are just flopping all over the place every 30 seconds to try and get a free penalty kick, whereas the womens teams rarely seem to flop and actually seem to use tactics to get in the best position to score a goal. They're much more enjoyable to watch in my opinion.

In Boxing, the women just seem more energetic and more willing to take the punches and the pain than their male counterparts. While the male boxers will spend half the match circling around each other looking for the right opportunity to throw a punch, the women just seem to throw aside all caution and basically just wail on each other until one of them is an unmoving bloody pulp. Its very thrilling watching women box.
