Did God tell him to suck in the NFCCG?

So is he accusing God of talking smack?

I want to have video proof that Russell Wilson said this. I can't like a guy who says stuff like that.

Something about him stinks to me. I can't put my finger on it, but i think most of him is an act for the media.

I hate this type of stuff.

Russel Wilson is a very likeable guy at first, but once you start hearing the excessive references to religion/God and his overly philosophical quotes, it comes off as trying way too hard. What's worse is that most people eat it up.

I guess he's still likeable, but that **** gets annoying after a while.

He's always on twitter with that stuff

No offense intended to anybody but, I never quite understood that line of thinking that God wanted to help one team over another. Also is God's help really in the "spirit of the rules?" I smell an investigation...

Bingo! You've got it. God........cold weather......footballs......Tom Brady (the chosen one)......He didn't turn over his cell phone.....?? I think your on to something.

God speaks to Wilson but he text messages Tom Brady. That's why Brady didn't turn over his phone.

I don't believe in god, but this strikes me as less egocentric than most proclamations of athletic faith. Rather than thinking his deity picks sides, Russell is viewing this as a test and an opportunity to be a good role model. Football is little more than an avenue for a larger message.

Wilson's reference reminds me of the following in the movie Real Genius:

Or the following classic on religion and football:

"Peyton, you have had a wonderful life, and your football play has brought joy to many people, so we are going to reward you by giving you a house to live in here in heaven."

And then St. Peter points to his left, and there is a magnificant house, emblazoned with the Colts logo and Peyton's number 18. And Peyton is very joyful and grateful, until he notices that on the other side of his house, is an even bigger and more resplendent house, and that it is covered with Patriots logos and is enclosed by an ornate wall made of rare and beautiful marble, with intricate carvings of Pat Patriot and the Flying Elvis, and a huge gate over which is an archway inscribed with a giant number 12.

And so Peyton turns to St. Peter and says,

"I don't mean to sound ungrateful, and the house you have given me is certainly very beautiful, but why is Tom Brady's house so much bigger and finer than mine?"

To which St. Peter replies,

"That's not Tom Brady's house. That's God's house!"

I disagree - I never thought of Wilson as likeable, just a person who was in the right place at the right time. To me he seems like a mini-peyton where its never his fault but everyone else's when something goes wrong. Then there's also the story of him divorcing his wife the day right after winning the SB while he was on his rookie contract presumably so that if he divorced her later he wouldn't have to give her anything. Don't know the whole reasoning behind it, but he did divorce her the day after winning the SB. To me thats not a very likeable person.

To me a likeable person is someone like Aaron Rodgers or Joe Montana, and (pats bias here since fans of every other team hates him) Brady. I even find Andrew Luck very likable, I know you guys will kill me for that, but Luck is a really nice guy. These are guys that epitomize how to show humility and give respect to their fans, teammates and opponent. Anyways, just my opinion.

" I TOLD YOU TO RUN BEAST MODE."

I think some people might be taking his words a little too literally. I highly doubt he actually heard a voice, that would be teetering on the edge of crazy. I think when people say "God spoke to me," 99 times out of a 100 they mean they got a feeling inside them that this is what they're supposed to do. It probably comes from years of ingrained religious teachings, but to them it's easier to explain as simply the voice of God.

Those cheating Patriots using divine intervention to win football games!!!!!
Does this mean Ted Wells is going to demand that the Patriots produce God for an interview and, if he doesn't show up, Goodell is going to take away more draft picks?

Don't want to offend, but wouldn't God say "you should give your millions to the poor" or something like that? Perhaps I've misunderstood the messages that are in the bible as I wasn't raised Christian but...

Yeah, guy wants to get divorced, so he puts it off 2 yrs waiting for a bigger contract.

Ok

This thread would have been so much better if Goodell, Kensil, Wells, and Vincent had synchronized strokes

Swimming or aneurysms?

I think it bears mentioning that Tom Brady is a church-going Catholic, and he was quoted in an Esquire or GQ interview saying he "didn't think God gave a s**t" about the outcome of a football game... I tend to side with Brady on that.
