Yet another reason why Tom Brady is so great

Ok, so what was the excuse with bird?

Bird was better than you, and he didn't mind telling you that he knew he was better than you. A lot of people get upset at that sort of approach.

I think you look at the other team's guy and you complain about this or that character trait. You forget that if you, as a guy on the street, were ever to meet any of your "heroes" - say in a bar somewhere - you'd be one of a zillion crazed fanboys trying to meet the hero. You always hear these stories about running into this or that superstar at the Kentucky Derby or an obscure 7-11 or watching another sport. Truth is, even if they came off as nice, their world is not your world.

Any of them can affect a certain noblesse oblige, like Eminem saying "I'm happy for every fan that I get" before launching into how he can't take a sh*t without someone taking a picture of it.

But do any of them really want to get together at the local bar with you and your buddies? Come on. They want to tap often very hot wives/girlfriends, go golfing at the best clubs, with only their peers (either from sports or from the upper class of American society,) etc.

We're necessary nebbishes to these guys. If I thought about this "who seems like they're humble" thing too long I'd stop watching completely, because person-for-person, they more than likely consider all of us borderline pathetic but necessary.

Another reason why Tom is great? Let me count the ways.

Because of circumstances, I've been around lots of players from the 'big 4' major sports. Like 'regular' people, they run the the whole spectrum, from great guys to complete asshats.

Eh different circumstances, different perspectives. I suppose we're born alone and we die alone, and in between there are various relationships ranging from very fulfilling to "behave appropriately," especially in our work worlds.

To clarify I don't think these guys are bad because they most likely wouldn't associate with most of us. I just think the experience of meeting them, even the ones I like through my TV set, would be less than phenomenal.

There are so many contributing factors to the makeup of Tom Brady. First off, his parents did a remarkable job. He's an incredible combination of smarts, talent and humility. He's a great leader and also respects authority. To say we were lucky he ended up here is an understatement. Thank you **** Rehbein and may you rest in peace.

Looking back on it all now, I truly feel as a sports fan that I've been blessed (as have some of you others) to have lived at a time when I could root for athletes from Ted Williams to Tom Brady and everyone in between. Like Russell, Bird, Pedro and Orr, to name just a few. I can't imagine how it could possibly get better for any other fans.

there are a plethora of reasons to like Tom

the first thing that drew me to him many years ago was how attractive he is

and he has aged very well over the years

violence is never the answer

we just need to learn to communicate better

cant be afraid to talk about our feelings

im hurting a little bit right now

do people here really hate me?....or do i just annoy them?.....or is it something else?

Well we follow Brady year around and got to know him really well. Most others just see him when he defeats their team once again. Manning beat our team a few times and we go absolutely bonkers when Mannings name is mentioned. When you avg 12 wins a season over 15 years, that builds up alot of hate in other teams fans and media.

Well, to follow up on your above point, you could communicate better. For example, when you use a singular noun such as "plethora", you could correctly pair it with a singular verb, such as "is", rather than the incorrect plural verb "are" which you employed. Arguably a minor point, but, sadly, it was a minor point which you cited.:)

Honestly, at the risk of seeming immodest, it isn't a particulary daunting task.

I'd bet the trifecta if I were you....

More of this please.

I dislike the troll james$+#!4 pretty much the way TB is hated. I keep repeating it so now I believe it.

I don't even need a stack of plethora to prove it either.

You tell me chrome dome.

People hate Brady because he's a supreme winner, with a gorgeous super model wife, and is very attractive himself, yet doesn't ever do anything wrong. So therefore he's some kind of pretty boy jackass.

I would bet that if Brady got a DUI or something similar at some point in his career, people would hate him less overall. The fact that he's seemingly a winner at everything, doesn't make big mistakes, and has a charmed life generates extreme jealously, i.e. hate.

Maybe earlier in his career but if Brady got a DUI nowadays there would literally be wall to wall coverage of the court proceedings.

Humility! It amazes me when I hear people claim that Brady is ****y and full of himself. Couldn't be farther from the truth. I've never seen a player who praises other teams more and puts fault on himself more then Brady.

I just watched the 2nd half of the superbowl for probably the 50th time. Tom Brady get handed the Lombardi trophy and gets asked a question by Dan Patrick about being down 10 in the 4th qtr. And his first response is to take fault in his own play. "Its not how we drew it up and throwing a couple of picks didn't help"

Good Post. Brady needs our support even more than before and what you posted is right on point. Man just QB'd his 4th SB Win and what irked him was his 2 INTS he threw. Others would totally avoid it unless brought up by Mediots.
I too play SB Win over again and I luv starting it 4th Qtr at 12:40 mark when I need a quickie fix. Just check out how cool, precise Brady is with comeback from 10 pt deficit. Surgical!

The whole team was locked in, Offense, Defense wasn't giving up much either (well except for the potential heart-breaker play) until that last drive. The refs could have been a bigger factor too, but they let them play.
