Vincent Blasts NFLPA For Spending Money On Legal Defense

Steve Balestrieri

In an unbelievable statement by the NFL VP Troy Vincent blasted the NFLPA for spending money on player's legal defense saying it was better spent elsewhere.

Merge, plz

Waaaa! Why won't Brady just accept his punishment without fighting back?

While the topic was raised elsewhere yesterday, I think this article merits its own thread.

The absurdity of Vincent's comments deserves the dissection that Balestrieri gives to it.

Many interpreted Vincent's remarks as a signal that the League was going to leave Brady's suspension in place. I read them as a sign of desperation and an attempt to drive a wedge between Brady and the NFLPA. Brady's agenda is his exoneration of charges related to the imaginary deflation of footballs in the AFCCG. The NFLPA has a broader agenda, which is not necessarily the same as Brady's.

This man is truly too stupid to waste the world's oxygen supply. With every public interview and statement, the onion peels another pungent layer, revealing the NFL office to be a bunch of half-wit cronies wearing suits. I can't wait for the next commissioner to clean house.

Vincent sounds like he Might have two functioning brain cells after making an absurd statement like that

I've posted it before but it merits being said again. For a multi billion dollar organization, the NFL is run like a mom and pop corner store but that demeans the small businesses. It really is run like a Mickey Mouse business. Seriously, the leaks, the PR missteps and schizo punishments based on biases and hatred and not facts don't reflect well on the clowns on Park Avenue....
Vincent talking about integrity??? That's rich based on his history of leaking confidential info and the business his wife was running .........Look in the mirror pal.....

Meanwhile, back on Park Ave....

Hey Vincent,

If you give out stupid punishments for minor issues, the NFLPA would not have to expend money..

Not a difficult concept.. otoh if the NFL did not spend 5 million+ on the Wells Report they could have contributed to the players pension fund or other worthwhile cause..

Two? You give him far too much credit

IMO, the fact that Vincent is attacking Brady with these interviews/leaks is good news. I have a feeling the NFL* knows they have nothing on Brady and is trying to sway public opinion. Brady and his team have been silent and my feeling is that when they have something to say it is going to be big (Hopefully in court). Roger and his henchman are starting to feel a little hot under the collar.

If they thought "why is the union spending money fighting us?" was going to sway public opinion against Brady, that's a hilarious miscalculation. If anything, I could easily see it going the other way. The NFL is probably 2 more ridiculous, tone-deaf statements away from getting a Daily Show segment devoted to general league incompetence.

Troy Vincent, paraphrased and responded to:

"Why is the Union spending money to fight a $5 million dollar report that's not worth the $5 it cost to print?"

- Troy Vincent

"Your question provides the answer, dumbass."

- Rest of the world.

It has nothing to do w/the public.
It's about creating dissension in the union ranks and trying to turn some of them against 'the golden boy'
