“Look at the amount of money being spent on legal fees for a handful of people,” said Vincent. “It’s millions and millions of dollars, and we’ve got players that are hurting. We’ve got young men who don’t know how to identify a good financial adviser. Men are in transition who aren’t doing well, and yet $8-10 million a year is spent in court fees about who should make a decision on someone, who in some cases has committed a crime.

he is not referring to the 5M spent on the Well's report...........

On the integrity-of-the-game issue, let's start with Brady. Why did you decide to suspend him for four games?

As with all cases regarding on-field discipline, we conduct due diligence, make a determination and write up the recommendation on the discipline for the violation. There were a lot of factors considered inside of that recommendation.

Like what?

The commissioner has all of the information, and, as he has previously stated, he's going to evaluate it and make a decision.

Why were you responsible for recommending the punishment for Brady?

Let's be very clear: Football operations makes recommendations to the commissioner on football-related violations, dealing with those occurring on the field, anything that comes inside the stadium and game-day violations. Our process for recommendation has remained the same for decades. It has not changed from me, Ray Anderson, Art Shell, John Beake or George Young. Somebody has to protect the integrity of the game. That's my responsibility, to protect and preserve the competitive fairness of professional football. That's why our game is so great, because we protect the integrity of the game.

Do you think there are other deflators?

No. Not to my knowledge.

On the Brady topic, and others, DeMaurice Smith has been very critical of the commissioner. What's your opinion of Roger Goodell?

There is a great deal of attention placed on a very small few who commit acts that are not representative of the values of football and, in some cases, are outside the laws or morals of our society. I have come to appreciate the strength of Roger's character that causes him to rise higher than the ethics of the current environment that all too often seeks to justify and defend indefensible acts. His leadership and determination has improved the game and the league in so many ways over the past nine years.

That last bit is high comedy.

Thanks, I needed a good laugh today!

It is ridiculously shady how he went from top guy at the NFLPA to such a high ranking position in the league office

Yup. total turn-coat. This article is really funny now, “They will come to fully know that I am here to serve them,” Vincent said of the skeptics.' Yeah, looks like you are serving the players alright. The league office is packed full of lying opportunists. More political than your local town hall.

I have read that he did some stuff to alienate the nflpa in the past . Plus , of course ESPN will interview this guy and of course he will say this now before the brady appeal ruling.

Plenty of people have criticized the NFL Players Association for the amount of money it spends on outside legal fees. The last group that should be criticizing the NFLPA for the money it spends on outside legal fees is the group that has compelled those expenditures by repeatedly overstepping its bounds. And the last guy from the last group that should be criticizing the NFLPA for those expenditures is a former NFLPA president who once was in line to be the executive director.

NFL criticizes NFLPA for spending so much money to fight NFL's abuses of power under Collective Bargaining Agreement

Lool how do you guys not like florio??

Of all the shady, corrupt people working in the NFL office, Troy Vincent has to be the worst. Read the article below.. this is the person lecturing about integrity! This is the absolute height of hypocrisy. If there was any justice, Vincent should be sharing a cell next to Hernandez. Troy Vincent needs to be exposed. If someone could forward this to a media member like Jerry Thorton or Barstool sports, it would be great.

Members of the National Football League’s Players Association fret that a leading candidate to replace Gene Upshaw as executive director has a history of failed businesses and questionable personal ties with a felon who stole $150,000 from a former player, The Post has learned.

“I think the league sees Vincent as somebody who’s friendly to their cause,” said one former player who asked to remain anonymous. “He’s shown he’s willing to act in a way that benefits himself but not the players.”

Indeed, in 2007 Vincent partnered with Scott Helfand in a venture called Pro Athlete Media. Helfand spent time in jail after being convicted of stealing $150,000 from former NFL defensive lineman Oliver Gibson.

Sources also are concerned that Vincent could be exposed in the future to civil lawsuits stemming from his failed insurance, financial advisory and hedge-fund businesses.

Another company, Eltekon Securities, was reinstated in November 2005 after a tax forfeiture in July of that year.

Filings from the North Carolina Secretary of State indicate Vincent’s Eltekon Insurance Agency had its status revoked in May 2005.

Vincent, whose won sev- eral “Man of the Year” and “Good Guy” awards, also had his Elketon Hedge I LP fund involuntarily canceled in June 2006.

Even Vincent’s nonprofits have come under attention.

According to IRS 990 filings, Vincent’s Love Thy Neighbor charity has spent more than 50 percent of its expenses on wages and salaries for officers. The median administrative expense ratio across all charities is just 9.6 percent.

What a freaking hypocrite! How dare he talk about morals, integrity, and ethics. The worst part is some people are going to believe these lies! The way they can just lie like that makes me sick.

Florio is like Brad Marchand. When he's on your side, he's a delightful agitator. When he's against you, he's a cheap-shooting idiot.
He's been calling out the NFL's BS for months now. Thank goodness for Florio. I'd be throwing objects at the wall if it weren't for a rational voice to consistently post on the matter.
