Volin's Sunday Football Column

I'm sick of the homer card being played. The reason we are not on board with Brady's guilt is there is a huge information gap between us and most others. Our interest in the Brady and the Patriots has compelled us to spend much more time going over the evidence piece by piece. I'd admit the "cheating" as soon as reasonable evidence is presented. I'm not signing on to what appears to be more probable than not a witch hunt.

We all know that Volin got mud on his face with bad reporting on the "Kraft Foundation"

It appears that instead of taking his mistake like a man, he's now gone out of his way to find someone who will take a swipe at the AEI Report

Even here Volin has been forced to twist his "expert's" findings to make it sound like the AEI conclusions are in doubt when even his own "debunker" won't support the findings of Wells/Exponent and in fact affirms that AEI's conclusions - if not their methodology - are correct.

But if Volin was trying to save face and credibility with this report, it's a FAIL of epic proportions

I'd have given him a pass if he simply accepted his mistake and pledged to learn from it - but Volin appears to be taking an approach in which he now thinks he needs to find the Patriots culpable if he's to maintain his credibility

In showing himself as a biased, self-serving reporter he's done exactly the opposite
Minihane and Shaugnessy picked it up tonight and billed it that a 'scientist' had 'debunked the AEI report', giving full credit to Volin for his 'scoop'.

A scientist, forsooth.

Guy workin' the cash register is a scientist if you have a degree in journalism

Send it all in to Thornton. He'll probably have a field day rubbing their noses in it.

Also, I'm getting more convinced by the day that, when Volin was a child, his mom fed him a hearty breakfast of lead paint chips 'cereal' every morning.

Sounds like he might be interviewing for a job at N*FL headquarters.

I hope I didn't give him any ideas.

Are those the words they used? Did they preface it with "allegedly" or "one source says" or something like that? Or did they literally say that the AEI report was debunked like it was an objective fact?

Has anyone gotten Michael J DeSarno, Email Address(es)[email protected]
to respond if he has heard back from AEI and to further explain his Email? Is it the debunking of AEI that is being claimed by the haters. I don't read it that way at all but he has lost the direction of the message of his email he foolishly sent to Volin. He was just asking a question, not supporting Exponent.

No qualificatons. In fact, the chyron said 'scientist debunks aei report'.

This is exactly why belichick never gives the press anything, and then they cry about it

These guys are something else, the guy didn't debunk the report, all he said is that he could replicate what the wells report did and agreed that the wells was report was flawed. It was a matter of using a different approach. In fact Disarno said "I still dont place any faith in [Wellss] conclusions"

"Kraft Foods" is the only thing that needs to be known about Volin IMHO. The 'error' was so egregious that either it wasn't just an honest mistake or his competence level is so meager that he must be employed in his current position for reasons other than being a qualified candidate.

Since it is far more likely than not that the Internet makes these kind of mistakes virtually impossible, Volin obviously hyper-eagerly jumped at any chance whatsoever to impugn the Patriots/Brady.
Which, far more likely than not, means he is nothing but another hack. His core job responsibility is find a way to push a story angle by any means possible. And while it's likely the rag (another one I avoid as much as possible) he works for assigned him this specific responsibility, maintaining a minimal standard of accuracy/fact checking is still required.
Other than links provided here at patsfan, I don't read Volin 'stories' and I don't know why anyone would. If you are that much in need of a hack job story, Borges and a few others are much more experienced and competent at it. Volin is redundant for an area that is nauseatingly redundant already.

Volin's ongoing simplicity is intriguing if only for the entertainment value. I sit here chuckling at the stupid things he's able to come up with. Nobody with an ounce of professional credence would continue ranking their own importance if they put forward his body of work.

Shows up on a decent sized desktop screen, won't show up on laptop or mobile
It may also be that your Java is messed up.

Just me, but the dead giveaway about how unprofessional Trolin is lies in how sensitive and thin-skinned he is. Pissing him off is about as difficult as getting wet when you fall out of a rowboat.

Loooool

Volin:
#Bills trade for Cassel carried much less risk than signing a Hoyer or McCown. If Cassel has a bad camp, Bills can cut him with $0 cap hit

Twitter guy: @BenVolin I thought he had $500k guaranteed?

Volin: @chet1028 ah you are correct, he did receive a $500k roster bonus in March.

You know what would be fantastic (and what this thread is turning into anyway)? An "Official Volin Sucks, 2015 Edition" thread.

Why limit it to a particular year. He'll suck forever as far as I'm concerned.
