Interesting bit this morning in Mike Reiss' Sunday Notes:

http://espn.go.com/blog/new-england...ith-darrelle-revis-again-before-training-camp

1. Darrelle Revis might be on the other side of the Patriots-Jets “Border War” this year, but that hasn’t altered plans for him and a handful of his former Patriots teammates to meet up in Arizona and train together for about two weeks leading up to training camp. Last year, Revis, Devin McCourty,Logan Ryan and Tavon Wilsonprepped for camp by working out in the dry desert heat with trainer/coach Will Sullivan, and McCourty told me they’ll do the same this year, starting July 12. Coincidentally, Revis’ free-agent departure has made Ryan, a 2013 third-round draft pick out of Rutgers, a leading candidate for a starting role this year.

I think we saw an improvement overall in the play of the defensive backs last season, so it's definitely great to see them back out there working again heading into this year. Hopefully the quality of play is close to or even better than where they were last year.

He's still a hell of a cornerback. Definitely nothing wrong with our guys spending some more time training with him.

Pretty odd considering the rivalry. I'm sure Jets fans don't like this but if it bothers them then I'm on board.

If you're a JEST fan you're thinking he's working on getting the best of the Pats DBs over to NY the moment their contracts are up... and learning more secret BB tricks. Just another season the JEST win the SB this year.

This is Logan Ryan’s 3rd offseason working out in AZ. I would have liked to see Butler out there with them.

Yeah, you're right. It's sure turned Logan into an All Pro...

Is he spying on us?

I think Dennard was part of that group last year in AZ.

Logan Ryan during his first 2 seasons -

Targeted – 105
Receptions allowed – 55
Completion % against -52.3%
Yards allowed – 784
TDs allowed – 5
Interceptions – 7
Pass defends – 16
QB rating against – 62.94

Revis had a 67.9 QB rating against last season. I am not saying Ryan is better, or even potentially as good, all I am saying is the kid works hard, trains hard, and when he has the opportunity he is a pretty good player. Ryan as a rookie allowed a 49.8 QB rating against, he struggled some as the #4 or #5 CB in a man press scheme but I think he will surprise you and a lot of other people this seasons.

I hope you're right and he surprises me, because right now the thought of him being a starter and leader in this secondary gives me the willies.

I have no problem with Revis the footballer. He's one of the finest CBs we're likely to see. This doesn't change my opinion on Revis the businessman but for the meantime, anything that helps the team is fine by me.

Pretty odd considering the rivalry.
Only a few crazy Brady type players give a damn about things like rivalries. Most players want the biggest paycheck they can get. If Revis cared about the rivalry he would never have come here in the first place.

I wanted him back but once Woody tampered it was a done deal. I can understand why any player would want to go back to play in NYC , but it's hard to understand why a competitor would want to play for an organization like the jets. I have no problem with Patriot DB's training with him, as he is a really hard worker and it will really push them and help them understand what it takes to be great.

I do think it's comical that the only Championship ring he will be wearing when he retires is from his one year in NE.

I actually wonder if he deliberately choose the Patriots because he wanted to be back in NYC and knew that was the one team the Jets couldn't live with him being on, and the Lombardi amplified that and made the pill much more bitter. Either way, really smart businessman, great corner, but still kind of a douchebag.
